Composer Paul Moravec begins his residency with Trio Solisti, performing his Pulitzer Prize-winning Tempest Fantasy with clarinetist Alan Kay and reader Malcolm Ingram, alongside an arrangement of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Time for Three (Tf3) performs for a large Brook Farm audience, while Lionheart presents vocal music by Morales and Guerrero at St. Mary’s. New York State Baroque performs Buxtehude, Vivaldi, and Bach on period instruments. The Ying Quartet returns with pianist Elinor Freer to perform Schnittke, Tchaikovsky, and Shostakovich. Conductor Joshua Weilerstein debuts with the Festival Chamber Orchestra in Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky. Violinist Hilary Hahn returns for her 14th season, joined by Valentina Lisitsa and Robert deMaine for works by Mendelssohn, Beethoven, and others. For the finale, Hahn performs Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5, conducted by Daniel Hege. The Festival also releases Live from the Skaneateles Festival Volume IV.
