The 30th anniversary season features the world premiere of Carter Pann’s Summer Songs, a commissioned chamber work based on local poetry, performed by Nelson Lee, Jose Franch-Ballester, David Ying, Elinor Freer, and narrator Thom Filicia. Several early-season alumni return, including Steven Doane and Mark Kaplan, who performs Bach’s Concerto for Oboe and Violin. The Parker Quartet debuts with Haydn, Mendelssohn, and Gade, while pianist Conrad Tao joins conductor Robert Moody for Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No. 1. The Jupiter String Quartet performs Michael Torke and Dvořák, later joining pianist John Novacek for rags and Rachmaninoff. Guitarist Eliot Fisk headlines the final week with a solo recital and quintets by Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Paganini. For the Grand Finale, Andres Cardenes conducts and performs as violin soloist in Piazzolla’s Four Seasons in Buenos Aires, featuring Fisk in Rodrigo’s Fantasia for a Gentleman.
