Mike Seeger opens the first week with American mountain music alongside the Ying Quartet, while baritone Timothy Jones performs classics by Berlin, Kern, and Gershwin. The New Lost City Ramblers present old-time porch music at Brook Farm. Composer-in-residence Kevin Puts features five works throughout the week, including Einstein on Mercer Street and his Concerto for Oboe and Strings. A prelude concert showcases Robinson Award winner Nina Elhassan, followed by Roger Tapping and Gilbert Kalish performing Brahms. The Jupiter Quartet plays Haydn and Mendelssohn, while twelve-year-old pianist Conrad Tao performs Mozart’s Concerto No. 21. A food-themed week includes Satie’s Three Pieces in the Shape of a Pear and Schoenfield’s Café Music. The program also features Schubert’s Trout Quintet. For the season finale, Peter Bay conducts soloists Steven Doane in Boccherini’s Cello Concerto and Jon Manasse in Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto.
