The Festival presents its first opera, Britten’s Noye’s Fludde, conducted by Grant Cooper. The Magellan String Quartet performs Ravel, Schoenberg’s Transfigured Night, and Strauss. Awadagin Pratt joins the Miro String Quartet for Dvořák’s Quintet; the Miro also plays Haydn and Bartók. Pratt solos in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 and conducts Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3. Hilary Hahn performs Beethoven’s Piano Trio, Brahms’ String Sextet, and Brahms’ Violin Sonata No. 2. In the final concert, with the composer present, Jeffrey Kahane conducts Hahn in the second-ever performance of Edgar Meyer’s Violin Concerto, shortly before she records the work.
