The Festival Educational Outreach Program presents Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf to 900 schoolchildren at Allyn Arena in June. Thomas Benjamin’s Nocturne/Aubade/Danse has its world premiere, with Andrea Bonsignore-Berry, oboe; Alan Ross, violin; Michelle LaCourse, viola; and Lindsay Groves, cello. Robert Weirich gives his first lecture-recital, on Elliott Carter’s Piano Sonata. Cellist Yuli Turovsky plays in Schubert’s Quintet for Strings, D. 956 and Tchaikovsky’s sextet Souvenir of Florence, solos in Boccherini’s Concerto for Cello and Strings, and conducts Mozart’s Symphony No. 40. Robert Weirich plays Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 22 in the final concert, David Zinman conducting.
