In memory of Brian Israel, Barbara Rabin and Patricia DeAngelis perform his Trois Grotesques. Eliot Fisk performs Boccherini’s Guitar Quintet, and Joseph Genualdi solos in Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4. Howard Boatwright joins Larry Combs, Gail Williams, and Lindsay Groves for his own Serenade for Two Winds and Two Strings. Andres Cardenes plays Paganini’s Caprice No. 1 and Beethoven’s Septet, plus Prokofiev and Shostakovich with pianist Barbara Lister-Sink. Substituting for Paul Hersh, Robert Weirich makes his Festival debut in Saint-Saëns’ Caprice with Eleanor Robinson, Larry Combs, and Laura Ahlbeck. David Zinman conducts the finale with soprano Julie Newell in Berlioz’ Les Nuits d’été. Finally, the Festival Educational Outreach Program launches, and WCNY-FM begins fall concert broadcasts.
