Introduction S.J.S. Engineering was set up in 2000. Since then, a team of experts in the design of maritime works and infrastructures has offered a wide range of integrated engineering services.

The Company’s main offices are in Rome; however, there are two additional branch offices. The Company was entitled a UNI EN 90012008 Quality Management Certificate.

SJS Engineering Team is composed of 11 engineers and architects, 5 technical experts plus administrative and clerical staff.

A group of external Experts supports the Company in the most challenging projects. All our external experts have cooperated with us for a long time, enriching the project with their technical and scientific expertise and contributing to the creation of our well-known quality procedures.

The experts composing our highly-specialized Team pool their skills and the resources made available by the Group: thanks to this integrated approach, SJS Engineering s.r.l. has achieved important goals both on the national and international level. SJS Engineering works in close contact with major logistics and ground and sea transport companies and with one of the major Italian oil companies.

The Company also has two Branch Offices based in Moscow and Cheboksary with a mixed Italian-Russian team. They hold the necessary partnerships to operate in the Russian Federation, both for construction and design activities and for preliminary investigations.

Oil Platform in the Port of Civitavecchia

According to the project “Conversion of the Oil Platform into an LNG terminal and connection to the SNAM gas network” re-gasification is due to take place on board of a LNGRV. Each vessel carries approximately 88 million cubic meters of standard natural gas.

Regasification and unloading capacity of each vessel amounts to fourteen million cubic meters of gas a day.

The analysis was carried out in order to ensure perfect tracking of various types of disposed sediments; Monitoring of disposed sediments through periodical detailed topographic surveys. The amount of residual sediments to be disposed in the depositing site is calculated with the help of state-of-the art computing software (Autodesk Civil 3D).

THE PROJECT: Operational sea bottom dredging is being carried out, in order to allow the correct maneuvring of vessels both during access and berthing stages; The quay (length 865 m) and operational yard (total area 370.000 m2) were constructed using dredged material. A container terminal will be constructed on the reclaimed land; Construction of new Multi-Purpose Dock (365 m); Construction of main breakwater (845m) equipped with liquid bulk handling facilities. The general D.E.G.M. project was divided into lots. The first lot regards dredgins and depositing site. The works included in the first lot can be summarized as follows : ROCK FILLS: temporary and permanent rockfills protecting the depositing site and the embankment area built in natural stone and Antifer blocks. The first rockfill supports the embankment area between the rockfill itself and the coast. This rockfill is to be removed when the permanent embankment is complete. The second rockfill will remain behind the multi-functional wharf. It will support the wharf itself and protect it from floodings.

DREDGINGS: Dredgings are to be carried out by mechanical and hydraulic dredgers.

DEPOSITING SITE: the depositing site borders with the coast on two sides. On the third side (length: approximately 450 m) and fourth side (length: approximately 870 m) the depositing site borders with the two rockfills described above. Two mounds of approximate height amounting to +13m a.s.l. (total volume: appr.1.712.000m3) will be deposited on the site. All the soil deposited in the temporary site will later be re-used for the construction of the permanent embankment and for filling the caissons under the wharves.

The Cape Panagija layout consists of a U-Type dock with a North-oriented entrance. Thanks to this particular layout the main dock is located on the Southern area of the basin, thus reducing the amount of excavation works. Also, shallow waters contribute to minimize the height of waves breaking against the port structures.

Cape Panagija terminal layout: the terminal for dry bulk to be stored in silos will be constructed on the embankment; The Container Terminal is located on the Western wharf; The Ro-RoTerminal is located on the back wharf.

The yard stretches over a 75 176 square meter area and on the Deepwater Quay . The bordering area was also the subject of a separate project.

THE PROJECT: The hospital building and technical equipment were completed and upgraded in order to comply with safety and security standards; The “San G.Moscati” hospital is now a highly specialized hospital including an Intensive Care Unit and a new Surgery Unit; The old project of the Infectious Disease Unit was improved and implemented; The Infectious Disease Unit is connected via a suspended walkway to the hospital main building.

The structure of the walkway is constituted of steel and metal tiles, while the grout curtains and piles are in reinforced concrete.

The hospital is constituted of two main buildings: – Three-floor building (area: 7.700 m2): General Medical Care Unit, Acute Day Ward, Diagnostic Unit, Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit and labs; – Five-floor building for hospital wards; Advanced medical care technology; Metal façade cladding. The pyramidal structure is made of steel and glass; The existing hospital facilities underwent massive rehabilitation: the hospital ward and medical care units were re-furnished, the surgery unit was newly equipped, and the hospital food service facilities were rearranged.

Moreover, the Rehabilitation, Orthopaedic Surgery and Paediatric Resuscitation Units were re-furnished and reequipped.
