The City of San José Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) Department encourages and supports the participation of individuals with all ability levels in programs and services. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ENSURES THAT QUALIFYING SAN JOSÉ RESIDENTS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO PARTICIPATION IN DEPARTMENT PROGRAMS, CLASSES, AND ACTIVITIES.

Scholarships are available for families and individuals who meet the qualifications.

Families must apply in person at a community center during regular operating hours.

Scholarships can be used at any program location and at all three of the City of San José Municipal Golf Courses (Los Lagos, Rancho del Pueblo, and San José Municipal).

THERAPEUTICS FALL CLASSES

GROUP ARTS

This program is geared towards groups of people with disabilities. Join us for seasonal arts and crafts. This program is designed to improve fine motor skills, boost creativity and social skills. Participants will be guided through seasonal art projects and specialty crafts. Organization's staff must accompany clients in a 4 to 1 ratio This class is not designed for individuals without staff/attendant

POWER SOCCER

Do you use a power wheelchair? Join this advanced class with the San Jose Flash in the electrifying and growing sport of power soccer! Whether you just want to learn the sport or aspire to compete in future tournaments, this is the program for you. Participants will learn power soccer techniques, develop skills, practice drills, and prepare for competition. Participants must be able to function in a 1:8 staff to participant ratio, independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant for personal care *This class is designed for power wheelchair users.*

SIMPLY COOKING

This introductory course for individuals with disabilities. Class includes lecture, observation, and hands on preparation. Participants will receive instructional materials to take home Menus will include breakfast, entrees, and desserts Class is conducted in a teaching kitchen which utilizes gas burners. Participants must be able to function in a 1:4 staff to participant ratio independently or must provide an attendant for personal care.

ADAPTIVE OPEN GYM

Come together in an inclusive, friendly environment and play TOGETHER bring your group to benefit from movement and activity helping with sensory integration, motor skills, or everyday functioning This program is loosely guided and does not have a set instructor. Participants must be able to participate in a 1:6 staff to participant ratio and independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant.

GROUP FITNESS

Bring your group for an inclusive, friendly fitness class! Participants will be guided through exercises focused on balance, coordination, core, stretching and cardio There will also be a variety of sports specific games and activities on a weekly basis

This fun, skill-intensive program is designed for beginning to intermediate players. Using our progression curriculum, we focus on the whole player-teaching sportsmanship and teamwork. Boys and girls will learn the fundamentals of passing, shooting, ball handling, rebounding and defense Participants should bring a water bottle and wear appropriate clothing and shoes.

Volleyball takes the energy and excitement of this great team sport and puts it all together into one fun-filled program All aspects of the game are taught through drills and exercises that focus on bumping, setting, spiking, hitting and serving. This class is designed for the beginning to intermediate player. Players should wear appropriate clothing and gym shoes

A great beginner gymnastic class teaching basic gymnastic skills, including movement exploration, balance, and coordination, at the same time teaching agility and improving motor skills Parents are allowed to stay for the first 10 minutes on the first day of class and are encouraged to attend the last class for a great recital.

LINE DANCE

If you’re a beginner with two left feet, an Intermediate dancer with basic knowledge, or an advanced dancer who knows complex stepsthere is a level for you!

LINE DANCE SOCIAL 2ND AND 4TH WEDNESDAYS (MONTHLY)

Instructor-led but limited instruction provided. This social is an opportunity to showcase your line dance skills, mingle, and socialize!

Be a Santa Clara County Resident and Age 60 and over.

Bring a photo ID on your first visit.

$5 contribution is recommended per meal.

Submit a hard copy of the County 1367 form.

A gold card with a barcode will be issued to you.

Reservations are entered monthly.

Meals are limited to 82 participants per day (Per County Budget).

If arriving after 11:30 a.m., reserved participants forfeit their meal to a walk-in participant.

Walk-ins accepted at 11:30 a.m.

Walk-ins must wait at the door and not at the table.

Saving seats is not permitted.

No To-Go supplies are provided.

Meals cannot be saved if arriving near closing time.

A Reservation is not a guarantee of meal if arriving close to 12 p.m.
