Dance Tap/Ballet I (CLAP ARTS)

HIP HOP (CLAP ARTS)

High-energy dance classes provide hours of fun while improving coordination, stamina and overall fitness. Dance steps are introduced in easy to understand language. Instruction is broken down to simplify the learning process, thereby helping to instill confidence in all dancers. Program culminates with an exciting presentation!

Hip Hop/Jazz Dance (DANCE ARTS ACADEMY)

Learn both Hip-Hop and Jazz dance moves in this high energy class. Tap/Ballet I introduces children to the basics of ballet and tap, combining creative movement, grace and balance. Students learn basic tap steps such as shuffles, rhythm exercises, and springs, and elementary ballet including plies, tendus, passes, and the basic ballet positions. Instruction advances with age and ability of participants. Parents may stay for first 10 min of first class and are invited back at the end of program for a class demonstration.

Music & Theater SJG Guitar Lessons: Level 1

This fun and educational class is for the absolute beginner guitarist. Students will be introduced to the basics of guitar playing and music fundamentals by learning fun, contemporary songs. Topics include tuning, chord strumming, "power" chording, blues and the fundamentals of note and rhythm reading. ** Students will need to have their own acoustic guitar or electric guitar. A $10 material fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.

Beginning Piano and Keyboards

Students will be taught the basics of playing music on the piano/ keyboard. Topics include: basic notes, rhythm and theory as well as finger exercises, chords and scales, all with the goal of being able to play basic keyboard accompaniment parts and fun songs.

Keyboards will be provided for students in class. However, students will need a keyboard at home for practice. Recommended resources for purchasing or renting a keyboard will be provided at the first class. **There is an additional $10 fee for materials payable to the instructor in class.

Mini Gym Stars (DANCE ARTS ACADEMY)

A great beginner gymnastic class teaching basic gymnastic skills, including movement exploration, balance, and coordination, and at the same time teaching agility and improving motor skills. Parents are allowed to stay for the first 10 minutes on the first day of class and are encouraged to attend the last class for a great recital.

San Jose Recreation Preschool Please consider the following policies and requirements before registering for a San Jose Recreation Preschool class:         

Requirements for a parent participation, volunteer, snack, etc varies by center.

Teacher to child ration is 1:10 or better.

Participants must be toilet trained by the first day of program.

Non-registered children are not allowed in the class at any time. Please make arrangements for siblings on your participation day.

A birth certificate may be requested for age confirmations.

The City of San Jose, Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services provide recreational programs ONLY and not licensed childcare.

After reaching the class capacity your child can be put on a waitlist. If a spot becomes available at any SJ Recreation Preschool center, you will receive a call and be given the option to enroll at that center or to stay on the waiting list.

Monthly payment plan is available, with auto-pay on the 20th of each month. A valid credit card must be on file for auto-pay option. (Kinder Prep & Little Learners only)

Children will be introduced to socialization, positive self-esteem, following directions and simple learning concepts. Children will work on hand eye coordination, motor skills, while gaining independence through the use of circle time, music, songs, stories, play, arts and crafts. This class prepares your child for kindergarten with age-appropriate activities, learning concepts, socialization skills and fun. All Access-Therapeutics Adapted Aerobics

Get your groove on! Designed for adults with developmental disabilities, this fun exercise class leads participants through gentle warm-up, rhythmic aerobic movement, strength training, stretching, and cool-down to promote cardio-vascular health. Participants must be able to function in a 1 to 10 staff to participant ratio and independent with personal care needs, or provide an attendant. Ages 18+.

Brief overview All Access Sports and Recreation (AASR) provides a wide range of programs for individuals of all ages with all ability levels, including those with ambulatory and cognitive disabilities Inclusion services are available for people with disabilities wishing to participate in recreation, preschool and after-school programs in the City of San JosĂŠ.. All Access-Therapeutics (cont’d) Therapeutic Artist

Tap into your inner artist, enjoy relaxing music with friends, stimulate your senses, and express yourself with creative activities such as jewelry making, collage, and seasonal arts and crafts. This inclusive program enhances fine motor coordination, social interaction, and selfexpression. Participants must be able to function in a 1 to 8 staff to participant ratio or provide for an attendant. Ages 18+.

Simply Cooking

This introductory course for adults with developmental disabilities covers basic kitchen safety, basic menu planning, and preparing simple dishes. Menus will include breakfast, lunch, dinners, and desserts. Class includes lecture, observation, and hands on preparation. Students will receive instructional materials to take home. Seven Trees class utilizes electric burners. Participants must be able to function in a 1:4 staff to participant ratio, independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant for personal care.

50+ ACTIVE ADULTS CHINESE BRUSH PAINTING Learn the art of brush painting. The instructor will teach the “Impressionistic style,” which is easier to master. She will start with basic strokes to draw orchids, and then gradually introduce other components, such as flower pot, insects, bamboo, minnow, etc. Learn at your own pace.
