SCHOLARSHIPS SCHOLARSHIPS CITYWIDE CITYWIDE

CITYWIDE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ENSURES THAT QUALIFYING SAN JOSÉ RESIDENTS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO PARTICIPATION IN DEPARTMENT PROGRAMS, CLASSES, AND ACTIVITIES.

Scholarships are available for families and individuals who meet the qualifications.

Families must apply in person at a community center during regular operating hours.

Scholarships can be used at any program location and at all three of the City of San José Municipal Golf Courses (Los Lagos, Rancho del Pueblo, and San José Municipal).

DANCE SUMMER CLASSES

BALLET/TAP - DANCE ARTS ACADEMY

Come join the fun! Students will have fun learning Ballet positions, warms-ups and tap steps Correct technique and terms will be taught Students will learn a dance routine to perform for family and friends Parents may stay for the first 10 minutes of class on the first day for announcements. Parents are encouraged to attend the last class for a presentation Suggested attire: Comfortable clothes or leotards, tights, and tutus Students are encouraged to bring Tap and Ballet shoes, but may also wear closed-toe shoes for Tap and bare feet for Ballet

Grab your favorite cartoonist and bring them to Young Rembrandts to get creative for the summer! June is going to get wild as we draw some jungle-themed fun Don’t worry, July will get even more topsy-turvy, as we draw up some lizards, penguins, Prairie dogs, and picnic ants We end the summer month with some more Summer Fun on the playground, and with some sports balls. TODDLER TIME: ALL ABOUT ART @ MAYFAIR

Designed for little artists who are ready to explore but not yet toilet-trained, this hands-on class introduces children to the world of creativity through arts & crafts, story time, music, and sensory play Guided by experienced staff, children will build social skills and express themselves in a fun, supportive environment A parent or caregiver is highly encouraged to participate.

MONTHLY SOCIAL: END OF SUMMER BBQ

Join us to say goodbye to summer! We bid summer goodbye with our annual BBQ. We will be serving hot dogs with chips and ice cream. Participants will have a helping hand in prepping the food and making a side dish. Outdoor games will be provided. Participants must be able to participate in a 1:8 staff-to-participant ratio and attend to their own personal care needs, or have an attendant present.

Come join us for a night of pizza, movies, and good company. We will be meeting and dining at Mountain Mike's Pizza off of Almaden Rd., then walk over to CineLux theater to watch a film of your choice. Participants can purchase additional snacks. All tickets will be purchased in advance by June 23rd. Please register in advance in person or online.

Strike! Come join our H.I.R.L.N. ( Head Injury Recreation and Leisure Network) group as we roll out to Eastridge Mall Round 1 for a night of bowling. Beginner to advance we welcome all skill levels. Get outdoors and have some fun. F.I.T. Camp offers fitness activities, enrichment, fun interactive games, and a healthy cooking club.

Join us at F I T Camp, a weeklong camp where your kids will develop a balanced approach of knowledge, skills, and confidence to be physically active for a lifetime! Campers will learn healthy habits from our leaders who use an evidence-based curriculum This summer, your kids will build friendships, grow their confidence, and benefit from outdoor activities Price includes a low leader-to-child ratio of 1:10, a F I T Camp shirt, skill building, new friendships, disguised learning, and much more!

San José Family Camp at Yosemite

Family Camp at Yosemite is an all-inclusive camp where you can fish, hike, swim, take part in organized programs, and relax. Camp is open to anyone who loves camping. Camp is along the Tuolumne River, near Yosemite National Park, east of Groveland, California. Camp has 65 wood-framed canvas tents, some with electricity and ADA access. Each tent cabin can sleep up to six people and has cots with mattresses.

Ruth Perez has been a staff member of the Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services Department for over 10 years! Ruth’s journey with the city has come full circle; she originally started as a Front Desk staff member for Mayfair, and she now leads the team as the Mayfair Supervisor!

Ruby has been a valued staff member for Mayfair Community Center for over 7 years! Ruby loves her community, which is reflected in the quality of her work that she accomplishes at Mayfair. Ruby also loves watching movies and taking care of her plants

Therapeutics Specialist

Alexis is passionate about providing all-access programming for her therapeutic participants here at Mayfair Her eclectic personality is reflected in the fun and varied programs she offers. She is our most stylish staff member in the back office, and enjoys thrifting in her free time.

A true California girl, Cece enjoys road tripping around the state when she has free time

Youth Specialist

Luis has been a huge asset in growing our Teen Center since he first joined the Mayfair team three years ago Luis has a genuine passion for working with teens, offering them programs such as competitive sports leagues and girls’ clubs, which let our teens’ talents shine. Luis also enjoys supporting our local sports teams.

ALEXANDRE GALLARDO

Rental Coordinator

Alexandre has been a staff member of the Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services team for over 5 years! Alexandre has prior experience working with R.O.C.K. and Senior Programs at Evergreen and is currently the Rental Coordinator here at Mayfair. In his free time, Alexandre enjoys coaching lacrosse at SJSU and Mitty High School.
