CITYWIDE

SCHOLARSHIPS CITYWIDE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ENSURES THAT QUALIFYING SAN JOSÉ RESIDENTS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO PARTICIPATION IN DEPARTMENT PROGRAMS, CLASSES, AND ACTIVITIES. Scholarships are available for families and individuals who meet the qualifications. Families must apply in person at a community center during regular operating hours. Scholarships can be used at any program location and at all three of the City of San José Municipal Golf Courses (Los Lagos, Rancho del Pueblo, and San José Municipal).

Ballet/Tap - Dance Arts Academy

Hip Hop/ Jazz - Dance Arts Academy

Come join the fun! Students will have fun learning Ballet positions, warms-ups and tap steps. Correct technique and terms will be taught. Students will learn a dance routine to perform for family and friends. Parents are allowed to stay for the first 10 minutes on the first day of class for announcements. Parents are encouraged to attend the last class for a presentation. Suggested attire: Comfortable clothes or leotards, tights and tutus. Students are encouraged to bring Tap and Ballet shoes, but may also wear closed-toe shoes for Tap and bare feet for Ballet.

Badmiton - Skyhawks

Soccertots - Skyhawks

Whether your child is a beginner or intermediate player, this program will improve their game and help them get more enjoyment from badminton. Our badminton program focuses on skill refinement as well as practice and match play to develop consistent, well-rounded badminton players. Equipment is limited, please bring your own racket if you have one.

Playable on almost any surface, these soccer-themed motor skill classes are very easy for youngsters to get into. Classes focus on developing motor skills and self-confidence. Core soccer skills are taught as well as an introduction to light competition. Instructor-to-student ratio is kept small to maximize individual development, and above all else we promote fun, fun, fun! *Parent participation required children under the age of 3.5 years.

Monthly Social: Bunny Pancakes Learn how to make a bunny out of pancakes! Join us for this night to learn and decorate your own bunny pancakes. Participants will make pancakes as a group, then decorate them into a shape of a bunny. There will be frosting, sprinkles, and other various food items to use. Mayfair Group Arts Come join us at Mayfair Community Center for some arts and crafts fun! Camp Dance - Dance Arts Academy A little bit of everything! Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Gymnastics, Cheer, Singing and Hawaiian are all taught in the great half-day camp. Participants are placed in age-appropriate classes. Please bring a snack and water bottle. Great recital for parents on Friday!

Join us this summer at San José Family Camp at Yosemite Family Camp at Yosemite is an all-inclusive camp where you can fish, hike, swim, take part in organized programs, and relax. STAFF SPOTLIGHT! RUTH PEREZ Recreation Supervisor Ruth Perez has been a staff member of the Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services Department for over 10 years! Ruth’s journey with the city has come full circle; she originally started as a Front Desk staff member for Mayfair, and she now leads the team as the Mayfair Supervisor!

RUBY HIDALGO Recreation Program Specialist Ruby has been a valued staff member for Mayfair Community Center for over 7 years! Ruby loves her community, which is reflected in the quality of her work that she accomplishes at Mayfair. Ruby also loves watching movies and taking care of her plants.

ALEXIS MIRANDA Therapeutics Specialist Alexis is passionate about providing all-access programming for her therapeutic participants here at Mayfair. Her eclectic personality is reflected in the fun and varied programs she offers. She is our most stylish staff member in the back office, and enjoys thrifting in her free time.

Cece’s compassionate and accommodating personality certainly shines when she interacts with our beloved Older Adults here at Mayfair. A true California girl, Cece enjoys road tripping around the state when she has free time.

LUIS RODRIGUEZ Youth Specialist Luis has been a huge asset in growing our Teen Center since he first joined the Mayfair team three years ago. Luis has a genuine passion for working with teens, offering them programs such as competitive sports leagues and girls’ clubs, which let our teens’ talents shine. Luis also enjoys supporting our local sports teams.

ALEXANDRE GALLARDO Rental Coordinator Alexandre has been a staff member of the Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services team for over 5 years! Alexandre has prior experience working with R.O.C.K. and Senior Programs at Evergreen and is currently the Rental Coordinator here at Mayfair. In his free time, Alexandre enjoys coaching lacrosse at SJSU and Mitty High School.
