CITYWIDE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ENSURES THAT QUALIFYING SAN JOSÉ RESIDENTS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO PARTICIPATION IN DEPARTMENT PROGRAMS, CLASSES, AND ACTIVITIES.

Scholarships are available for families and individuals who meet the qualifications.

Families must apply in person at a community center during regular operating hours.

Scholarships can be used at any program location and at all three of the City of San José Municipal Golf Courses (Los Lagos, Rancho del Pueblo, and San José Municipal).

DANCE SUMMER CLASSES

DANCE DIVAS

A fun beginning dance class where students will learn Ballet warm-ups, Jazz/ Hip Hop dance, and Tap steps! Parents are allowed to stay for the first 10 minutes on the first day of class and are encouraged to attend the last class for a great recital.

Grab your pickleball racket and get ready to play! Whether your child is a beginning or intermediate player, this program will improve their game and help them get more enjoyment from pickleball Our pickleball programs focus on skill refinement as well as practice and match play to develop consistent, wellrounded athletes. Equipment is limited; please bring your own paddle if you have one

Playable on almost any surface, these soccer-themed motor skill classes are very easy for youngsters to get into Classes focus on developing motor skills and self-confidence Core soccer skills are taught as well as an introduction to light competition Instructor-to-student ratio is kept small to maximize individual development, and above all else we promote fun, fun, fun! Parent participation required children under the age of 3 5 years

This parent-child class develops gross motor skills and coordination pertinent to the game of basketball Repetition permits children to build their confidence and esteem Activities include organized games that help children to develop skills and learn to follow directions

TAI CHI

Tai Chi is an internal Chinese martial art known for its slow, graceful movements and breathing techniques It has become a popular form of exercise worldwide Like most exercises, practicing Tai Chi can help one improve one's strength, flexibility, circulation, and relaxation

YUAN CHI

Enjoy this unique form of exercise Traditional Chinese dance brings energy, enjoyment, and well-being to the body while the mind enjoys the harmony of the music, bringing peace and balance.

YOGA GENTLE

This gentle and slower pace yoga class allows you to practice strength, flexibility, and balance while allowing enough time in each pose to experience the mind-body connection. This class can help improve breathing, balance, and self-awareness. Even though gentle yoga isn't "beginner yoga," the pace allows us to cover several variations, and everyone is welcome to join!

AEROBIC FITNESS

Quilting is done on bedspreads, quilt-art wall hangings, clothing, and a variety of textile products This group loves to design beautiful, unique quilts The class is for beginners and experienced quilters Lots of helpful advice is available Please bring your own supplies

PING PONG

Bring your paddle its time to play! This self-led ping pong program is a great chance to work on your skills and play with friends This program will be on a drop-in basis for the summer season, based on room availability. It is never too late to learn Chinese Folk Dance An experienced volunteer Chinese Folk dance instructor leads this group You will learn various Chinese Folk Dances and have the opportunity to perform in community center events Anyone can join if they need any experience A fun dance experience while learning a bit of Chinese culture and making friends

Come join others for some various dancing and fun socialization Dress is casual and singles are welcomed Come try out the exciting world of ballroom dancing; including the slow gliding foxtrot to sensuous rumba, to a vivacious cha cha there is something for everyone.This program is led by a volunteer, who will provide 30 minutes of instruction, followed by 90 minutes of social dance.

Camp San José 2026 at Millbrook is introducing an exciting new structure!

This year, we will be offering age-based camp groups to better tailor activities and experiences for our campers. The new age groups will be: Ages 5–7 & Ages 8–12

This change will help us provide more age-appropriate programming and an even better camp experience for everyone

R.O.C.K. Afterschool is available MondayFriday on school campuses from the time school is dismissed until 6 p.m., except school holidays, breaks, and in-service days.

San José Family Camp at Yosemite

Family Camp at Yosemite is an all-inclusive camp where you can fish, hike, swim, take part in organized programs, and relax. Camp is open to anyone who loves camping. Camp is along the Tuolumne River, near Yosemite National Park, east of Groveland, California. Camp has 65 wood-framed canvas tents, some with electricity and ADA access. Each tent cabin can sleep up to six people and has cots with mattresses.
