SCHOLARSHIPS SCHOLARSHIPS CITYWIDE CITYWIDE

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ENSURES THAT QUALIFYING SAN JOSÉ RESIDENTS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO PARTICIPATION IN DEPARTMENT PROGRAMS, CLASSES, AND ACTIVITIES.

Scholarships are available for families and individuals who meet the qualifications.

Families must apply in person at a community center during regular operating hours.

Scholarships can be used at any program location and at all three of the City of San José Municipal Golf Courses (Los Lagos, Rancho del Pueblo, and San José Municipal).

ARTS & CRAFTS

ADVANCED CARTOON DRAWING ( NEW)YOUNG REMBRANDTS

Does your child have a great sense of humor to complement their artistic skills? If so, they'll LOVE a Young Rembrandts Cartoon class! Cartoon classes move at quick pace and they're often more challenging as students complete multiple drawings in a single session! From the bold lettering of Big Words to action-packed Soccer in Action, to imaginative Candy Characters, students will stretch their creativity while strengthening drawing technique, exaggerating and storytelling skills. Give your child the gift of learning, laughter, and artistry.

ARTISTIC EXPLORERS (NEW) - YOUNG REMBRANDTS

Back-to-school season is bursting with creativity at YR! During this session students will explore a fascinating world of characters, patterns, texture and vibrant color. Appetites don't stand a chance against the realistic Pizza drawing our students will create as they focus on proportion, detail, and shading techniques. Our adorable Baby Sloth will help students practice expression and character design, while our art history portrait of Hiawatha introduces cultural appreciation and portrait composition just in time to celebrate the fall season. Each lesson blends imagination with strong art fundamentals. All this and more await your child in a Young Rembrandts classroom

CREATIVE KIDS PRESCHOOL DRAWING (NEW) - YOUNG REMBRANDTS

Encourage your early learner's love of art! This fall, YR introduces drawing lessons designed to build fine motor skills and a love for creativity Our friendly Llama drawing will introduce students to the wonderful world of drawing as they learn basic shapes, line control, and simple composition. Seasonal favorites like Apple Trees and Acorns help reinforce pattern, color recognition and foundational art vocabulary in a way that is exciting Each lesson is carefully crafted to nurture creativity while strengthening important developmental skills. There's no better time than NOW to enroll your child in a Young Rembrants class and watch their confidence bloom!

BABY BALLET (CHILD ONLY) - CLAP ARTS

Baby Ballet encourages self-expression and fun! Children learn to respond to music, improve balance and agility, and express their feelings through dance. A variety of music and props such as scarves and teddy bears keep your little one entertained. Parents may stay for first 10 minutes of first class and are invited back at the end of program for a class demonstration Suggested Attire: Comfortable clothes or leotards, tights and tutus Students may dance barefoot or wear ballet shoes.

- DANCE ARTS ACADEMY

Come join the fun! Students will have fun learning Ballet positions, warm-ups, and tap steps. Correct technique and terms will be taught Students will learn a dance routine to perform for family and friends Parents are allowed to stay for the first 10 minutes on the first day of class for announcements. Parents are encouraged to attend the last class for a presentation.

PRE-BALLET - CLAP ARTS

A first introduction to ballet - children learn basic ballet positions, steps and routines. They dance to a variety of ballet and age- appropriate music, use props and have lots of fun! Parents may stay for first 10 minutes of first class and are invited back at the end of program for a class demonstration. Suggested Attire: Comfortable clothes or leotards, tights and tutus. Students may dance barefoot or wear ballet shoes.

TAP/BALLET - CLAP ARTS

Tap/Ballet I introduces children to the basics of ballet and tap, combining creative movement, grace and balance. Students learn basic tap steps such as shuffles, rhythm exercises, springs, and elementary ballet including plies, tendus, passes, and the basic ballet positions. Instruction advances with age and ability of participants.Parents may stay for first 10 minutes of first class and are invited back at the end of program for a class demonstration Suggested Attire: Comfortable clothes or leotards, tights and tutus. Students are encourage to bring Tap and Ballet shoes, but may wear closed-toe shoes and bare feet for Ballet.

TODDLER TIME: ALL ABOUT ART

Designed for little artists who are ready to explore but not yet toilet trained, this hands-on class introduces children to the world of creativity through arts & crafts, story time, music, and sensory play. Guided by experience staff, children will build social skills and express themselves in a fun supportive environment a parent or caregiver is highly encouraged to participate. Please dress children in comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes - art can get messy! Only registered children may attend. Let's get creative.

Join the Almaden Staff at our Annual Breakfast with Santa event. The morning will begin with a tasty breakfast and seasonal arts and crafts. Then, we will have a special visit from Santa There will be opportunities to take pictures with Santa, so make sure to bring your own camera. Please note: Everyone must be registered to enter this private event, including all adults and youth attending. ADVANCED FUTSAL - FUTSAL KINGZ

Gives the opportunity to receive high-level Futsal instruction in a group setting. Emphasis of the program will be on the player development, focusing on the ball skills and ball manipulation High-quality coaches will take the players through a number of different attacking/defensive scenarios, helping players make more informed decisions. The players will focus on learning how to play as a cohesive unit and will learn the tactics of the game.

This multi-sport program was developed to give 4 to 7 year-olds a positive first step into athletics. LEISURE CLASS POLICIES

Our method of registration is designed to offer equal access to all San José residents.

Customers can register for any class at the PRNS facility or online. The City does not guarantee participation from one session to the next. All online, walk-in, mailed, faxed registration will be treated in the same manner. San Jose residents will be given first priority to register. Registration forms will be processed in the order they were received. If a class instructor is absent or a class is canceled due to inclement weather, a make-up class will be added to the end of the session.

INCLUSION POLICY

The City of San José, Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) encourages and supports the participation of individuals with all ability levels in programs and services. To facilitate opportunities for people with and without disabilities and to engage in leisure pursuits together, PRNS provides inclusion support services. These services include, but are not limited to interpreters for the deaf or hearing consideration of the requested accommodation, is provided at least two weeks in advance.
