ARTS & CRAFTS 3D CARTOON DRAWING

Video games, cartoons and comic books all use 3-D design to create depth and texture. In this class students will learn how to create backgrounds and characters that will want to jump off the page. Students will also explore pix-elated design and create characters like those in "Mine Craft" and "Pixels." All materials will be provided by the instructor.

FUNDAMENTALS OF DRAWING

Experience the colorful magic of fall in the Young Rembrandts classroom. Kick off the fall season with a cute Bear dressed and ready for school, a video game favorite Pixel Block Character and the geometrical world of architecture as we draw the Notre Dame Cathedral. Later, students will immerse themselves in the seasonal spirit as they learn still life technique of pumpkins, draw a detailed Scarecrow and draw a silly but challenging Patterned Bat. Finally, get ready for winter as we turn out a "sweet" drawing of a ginger bread house (almost good enough to eat!). INTRO TO PASTELS

Fun-filled days await our students as they learn to draw and color with pastels. We will create detailed, pastel compositions on each week, focusing on a different subject. We will recreate master artist paintings like Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Nights" or learn about Paul Cezanne's mastery of light and color. Students will also draw eye catching sea stars along the shoreline and will illustrate a sea turtle with bold patterns. Our instruction will bring remarkable results, and you will want to head to the frame shop with your child's finished pastel pieces. These pastel drawings will reward student with a great sense of pride and accomplishment.

MY FIRST ART CLASS

Spend quality time with your child creating art and having fun together! Explore five art stations with a different theme each week. PRESCHOOL ARTIST

This Fall, your preschooler will "fall" in love with our lessons. Just like the rainbow, our youngest artists will create in the month of September, we will cover a colorful and pattern-rich spectrum of subjects. We'll soak in the warm colors of the sun as we draw a radiating sun face and we'll be careful not to get tangled up in our patterned spider web we draw in October! Learn about Native American culture through a detailed tepee we'll draw in November, and celebrate the coming of the winter months with a nutcracker that takes his job seriously. We'll draw these (and many more exciting lessons!) while we enhance our fine-motor skills, learn to stay on task, follow directions, and learn skills so critical in the classroom.

Baby Ballet encourages self-expression and fun! Children learn to respond to music, improve balance and agility, and express their feelings through dance. A variety of music and props such as scarves and teddy bears keep your little ones entertained.

EDUCATION & ENRICHMENT LITTLE MEDICAL SCHOOL

This tap/ballet class introduces children to the basics of both ballet and tap, combining creative movement, grace and balance. Students learn basic tap steps such as shuffles, rhythm exercises, and springs. Elementary ballet including plies, tendus, passes, and the basic ballet positions. Parents may stay for the first 10 minutes of class and are invited back at the end of program for a class demonstration. Suggested attire: Comfortable clothes or leotards, tights and tutus. Students are encouraged to bring Tap and Ballet shoes but may also wear closed toe shoes for Tap and bare feet for Ballet ( students may not dance in socks or tights alone).

Little Medical School is an academic enrichment program that helps students from K-5th grade explore the world of medicine, science, and importance of health in an engaging and fun way. The children will enjoy dressing up as doctors while learning about medical equipment and functions of the human body. Using demonstrations, crafts, and games, students will learn to tie sutures like a real surgeon and the connections between our hear, lungs, and digestive systems.

LITTLE NURSING SCHOOL

Our program encourages elementary school children to dress up and play as they explore the exciting world of nursing. Using interactive demonstrations, crafts and games, kids learn how the body works and how to use instruments that real nurses use. Small classes are led by trained Little Nursing School instructor to ensure individual attention. Each child receives a diploma as a graduate of Little Nursing School upon completion of the course.

LITTLE PHARMACY SCHOOL

Little Pharmacy School, uses the power of role-play, hands-on demonstrations, crafts, games, and songs to stimulate the mini pharmacy school and mini-medical school experience. This interactive and engaging format is based on an established mini-medical school called Little Medical School which allows grade school students to explore medical concepts by role playing a physician. Expanding on this concept, the Little Pharmacy School will teach the principles of medication safety by encouraging students to assume the role of a pharmacist.

VIDEO GAME DESIGN

EDUCATION & ENRICHMENT DIGITAL COMPUTER ANIMATION

Students are introduced to fundamental digital computer animation. In this class, participants will learn skills that help computer drawing, character movement, frame layering and dialogue matching. Students will work in small groups on animation technique and will complete a short animated film. Students may bring Flash Drives to the last class and will be able to take a copy of their animation home to share with friends and family.

JUNIOR PIANO PLAYERS

This beginning course helps students learn healthy vocal techniques and how to use their voice to its fullest potential. Learn breath control and voice placement, tone, phrasing and pitch as well as basic music theory, building confidence, and picking audition materials, all while having fun! Students exercise their vocal muscles through group and individual work for personal enjoyment, auditioning and performing. There is a $10 materials fee is payable to the instructor on the first class.

This fun and educational piano keyboard class is for budding pianists ages 4-5 years.

FITNESS CENTER HOURS

ADULT BASKETBALL (COMPETITIVE AND RECREATION)

Adult Basketball features (2) different leagues based on skill level. Competitive is our intermediate level, and Recreation is for recreational players. Leagues are offered year round at all levels of play. Team registration fees include league games, referees, scorekeepers, basic stats, playoffs, and awards for the top (2) teams.

LATE PICKUP POLICY The San Jose Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services wants to ensure the safety and well-being of every participant. Participants must be picked up at the scheduled class end time. If, after five minutes, a participant is not picked up, we may charge $1.00 per participant for every minute thereafter. All fees must be paid prior to the participant returning to class/program. We understand that emergencies may happen. If you have an emergency and are unable to pick up on time, please contact the community center.

All Access Sports & Recreation Specialized Programs All Access Sports and Recreation (AASR) provides a wide range of programs for individuals of all ages with all ability levels, including those with ambulatory and cognitive disabilities.

Examples of programs, camps and special events offered by AASR include: adapted golf, power soccer, advanced wheelchair basketball, diabetes camp, cooperative dances, fiesta educative conference, group arts, healthy teens, cooking class, play camps, Junior Sports Camp and sports for all.
