INCLUSION POLICY
The City of San José Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) Department encourages and supports the participation of individuals with all ability levels in programs and services. To facilitate opportunities for people with and without disabilities and to engage in leisure pursuits together, PRNS provides inclusion support services. These services include, but are not limited to, interpreters for the deaf or hearing impaired, improved signage, activity modification, additional staff training, accessible equipment and facility features, and support staff. To ensure the requested accommodation is considered, please notify the specific facility where the program is provided at least two weeks in advance

SCHOLARSHIPS SCHOLARSHIPS CITYWIDE CITYWIDE
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ENSURES THAT QUALIFYING SAN JOSÉ RESIDENTS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO PARTICIPATION IN DEPARTMENT PROGRAMS, CLASSES, AND ACTIVITIES.
Scholarships are available for families and individuals who meet the qualifications.
Families must apply in person at a community center during regular operating hours.
Scholarships can be used at any program location and at all three of the City of San José Municipal Golf Courses (Los Lagos, Rancho del Pueblo, and San José Municipal).
ARTS & CRAFTS SEVEN TREES
FUN WITH ARTS
Come and enjoy different art forms such as coloring, drawing, painting and more! This art class is directed towards teen and young adults with disabilities. Each week we will try different art forms. We'll get to socialize with others by showing our art with each other once completed. Participants must be able to participate in a 1:6 staff to participant ratio and independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant.
SENSORY SCIENCE FUN
This course is specifically designed to empower individuals with disabilities to engage in hands-on sensory-based projects. This unique class combines the excitement of scientific inquiry and fun art projects into one! Participants must be able to function in a 1:10 staff ratio, or have a guardian or caregiver present.

BASCOM GROUP ARTS
Room: Teen Center
This program is geared towards groups of people with disabilities. Join us for seasonal arts and crafts. This program is designed to improve fine motor skills, boost creativity and social skills. Participants will be guided through seasonal art projects and specialty crafts. Organization's staff must accompany clients in a 4 to 1 ratio. This class is not designed for individuals without staff/attendant. Location: Bascom Community
ARTS & CRAFTS
MAYFAIR GROUP ARTS
Come join us at Mayfair Community Center for some arts and crafts fun! Throughout the program, participants will improve fine motor skills, enhance social skills, and expand their creativity. Each class will be guided by City Staff. Solo participants are welcome.
The organization's staff must accompany clients at a 1:4 ratio.

SPORTS & FITNESS BASCOM
POWER SOCCER
Do you use a power wheelchair? Join this advanced class with the San José Flash in the electrifying and growing sport of power soccer! Whether you just want to learn the sport or aspire to compete in future tournaments, this is the program for you. Participants will learn power soccer techniques, develop skills, practice drills, and prepare for competition. Participants must be able to function in a 1:8 staff-toparticipant ratio, independent of personal care needs, or provide an attendant for personal care.
*This class is designed for power wheelchair users.

ADAPTIVE OPEN GYM
Come together in an inclusive, friendly environment and play TOGETHER. Bring your group to benefit from movement and activity, supporting sensory integration, motor skills, and everyday functioning. This program is loosely guided and does not have a set instructor. Join us for a night on the town! This social club utilizes community activities which are selected by the group to improve socialization, leisure awareness and independent living skills. Try new things and explore you community with the support and encouragement of friendly, knowledgeable staff.
Members must be able to participate within a 1:6 staff to participant ratio and be independent with their personal care needs. Please note: registration fee covers staffing cost only. Additional fees may be required based on chosen activities. Masks will be strongly recommended when at the community center.

Boo! Join us for a fun eerie craft night at Mayfair Community center where participants will have the chance to create and decorate their own personal Faux (fake) Taxidermy wall piece. There will be snacks offered and Halloween costumes are encouraged. This program is geared towards adults with disabilities, but anyone can join. SIMPLY COOKING
This introductory course for individuals with disabilities. Class includes lecture, observation, and hands on preparation. Participants will receive instructional materials to take home. Menus will include breakfast, lunch, dinners, and desserts. Class is conducted in a teaching kitchen which utilizes gas burners.
Participants must be able to function in a 1:4 staff to participant ratio independently or must provide an attendant for personal care.

As of early 2026, he serves as a Specialist at Bascom Community Center With a background in Adaptive Exercise, Avash is dedicated to developing and delivering inclusive fitness and social opportunities for individuals of all abilities.
Nessa Diamante has proudly been a part of the Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services team for nearly five years. For the past year, she has been based at Camden, where she focuses on Therapeutic Service programs and fostering meaningful connections within the community Nessa is passionate about creating welcoming, safe spaces where everyone can come together and enjoy some fun!
