Leaving a Gift in Your Will

At St John’s, we pride ourselves in providing a magical education tailored to the individual child, so that they may find their niche to flourish. We achieve this with an award-winning ethos, unique wholechild curriculum, dedicated staff and beautiful facilities. We believe that the exceptional education and nurturing community we offer should be available to every deserving child, regardless of their financial circumstances. We established the Bursaries Endowment Fund to help make this possible. Our long-term goal is to build a lasting endowment that will secure and expand bursary support for generations to come, a vision that can only be achieved with the generosity and foresight of our community.
Thanks to the kindness of this School, I have been privileged with a world-class, well-rounded education.
I am extremely grateful to have been given the chance to be educated in this wonderful School; it has been an amazing journey. I am proud to be a Johnian.

A Gift in Your Will
Including a gift in your will is a deeply meaningful way to leave a lasting legacy and support the future of St John’s. It is an opportunity to help secure the exceptional education, values and spirit that make our community so special and ensuring that future generations of children can continue to flourish here, regardless of their financial circumstances.
By including St John’s in your estate planning, you will be contributing to a foundation that strengthens and enriches the lives of pupils for years to come. Your legacy will open doors to opportunity, nurture curiosity and confidence and help every child reach their fullest potential. More than a financial gift, it is a powerful expression of your belief in the transformative impact of a St John’s education.

Ways of Leaving a Gift in Your Will
Residuary Legacy: once family and friends have been provided for, the remainder of a percentage of your estate is donated
Pecuniary Legacy: a fixed sum of money
Specific Legacy: a specific or in-kind bequest (for example, property, stocks and shares, works of art)
Reversionary Legacy: a legacy gift which allows named individuals to benefit from your estate during their life time, after which the designated assets will be given to St John’s
Conditional Legacy: requires a particular event to occur in order for St John’s to receive your bequest and is most common when you outlive all of the beneficiaries in your will
If you find yourself beneficiary of a will, you may be interested to know that it is possible to transfer the whole or part of an inheritance to St John’s using a deed of variation. Bequests that are transferred in this way become free of Inheritance Tax and can be an effective way to support the School during your lifetime. However you decide to remember St John’s, we will endeavour to honour your wishes and intentions wherever possible.

St John’s is offering a free will-writing service in partnership with Farewill. If you have not written your will yet, you are not alone as around 65% of UK adults have yet to make one. Writing your will is one of the most important steps you can take to ensure that your loved ones are cared for and your wishes are honoured.
To make this process as simple as possible, we have partnered with Farewill, the UK’s leading will-writing service, to offer you the opportunity to write or update a simple will completely free of charge, either online or over the phone at your convenience. You are under no obligation to include St John’s in your will to take advantage of this service.
However, once you have provided for your loved ones, we hope you might consider leaving a gift to the School thereby helping future generations of pupils benefit from the outstanding education and values that make St John’s so special.
