Stewarding Our Legacy Dear Members, September marks the beginning of one of the best times of the year at San Jose Country Club. With football season underway, cooler weather on the horizon, and a full calendar of golf, tennis, dining, family, and social events, there is tremendous energy around the Club. Whether you're attending the Labor Day Luau, cheering on the Jaguars with fellow members, enjoying one of our outstanding wine dinners, or participating in our many fall activities, I hope you'll take every opportunity to enjoy everything San Jose has to offer.

Our San Jose Family This month, I would like to begin by recognizing our incredible staff and reflecting on a tragedy that has deeply affected our entire Club. Many of you are aware of the devastating fire that impacted Genti Manati, a valued member of our kitchen team, and his family. Words cannot adequately express the heartbreak we all feel for Genti, his wife, and their family following the unimaginable loss of their three young children. As a Club, we grieve alongside them and remain committed to supporting them during this incredibly difficult time. I want to sincerely thank the many members who have reached out with prayers, messages of encouragement, and financial

support through both the GoFundMe campaign and the Lion's Den Foundation. Your generosity and compassion demonstrate what makes San Jose Country Club so much more than a place to play golf or enjoy dinner; it is a community that comes together when one of our own is in need. Please continue to keep Genti, his wife, their children, and their extended family in your thoughts and prayers.

2027 Board of Nominations One of the Club's most important governance responsibilities each year is identifying future leaders for our Board. I am pleased to congratulate Chris Folds, Jaime Getz, Marshall Hall, and Brent Latour on their nominations as candidates for the Board of Governors. I would also like to thank Aaron Curtis, Chairman of the Nominating Committee, and the entire committee for the time, thoughtfulness, and professionalism they brought to this important process. As outlined in Section 4.4(C) of our Bylaws, the Nominating Committee is structured independently of the Board and Club officers. The committee consists of a Chair and six Club members, solicits recommendations from the membership, and no member of the committee may be nominated by the committee itself. This structure helps ensure a

fair, transparent, and independent process for identifying future Board candidates. In accordance with the Bylaws, voting members will recieve an electronic ballot later this month, with voting taking place from late September through the second Wednesday in October. Additional communications will be provided outlining the election process and voting procedures. If you have an interest in serving the Club through committee involvement next year, I encourage you to reach out to either me or Stephen Whitson. We will send a separate formal communication regarding committee service later this year, but it is never too early to express your interest in becoming more involved and serving the Club.

Bylaws Modernization Later this month, members will receive information regarding three proposed amendments to our Bylaws designed to modernize certain aspects of the Club's governance. The communication and electronic ballot will provide detailed explanations of each proposed amendment, along with the rationale behind each recommendation. Members who prefer to vote electronically will be able to do so from the convenience of their home, while those who wish to vote in person will also have that opportunity at the Club. I encourage every voting member to review the proposed changes carefully. Once the information has been distributed, I am more than happy to speak with any member who has questions about the proposed amendments.

Thank You To Our Staff Finally, I want to once again recognize our outstanding staff for everything they do to make San Jose such a special place. Our golf course continues to recover beautifully following the recent Curfew treatment, thanks to the tremendous work of Josh Urbanec and our Golf Course Maintenance team. The condition of the golf course continues to be one of the Club's greatest strengths and is a direct reflection of their dedication and expertise. Our Tennis team, led by Marie Waller, continues to provide exceptional programming, instruction, and events for players of all ages and skill levels. Our Fitness team, led by Jeff Hewitt, has kept the Fitness Center extremely active through group classes, personal training, and individual workouts. Our Food & Beverage team, led by Clubhouse Manager Adrian Knight and Executive Chef Terra Parker, continues to elevate the dining experience at San Jose. Together with their talented front-of-house and culinary teams, they remain focused on delivering exceptional hospitality, quality cuisine, and consistent service for our members and guests. We appreciate their commitment to continuously improving every dining experience at the Club. I would also like to recognize our Golf Operations team, led by Todd Bork. From the professionals in the Golf Shop to our outside operations and cart staff, along with the continued improvements in merchandising and product selection, your commitment to delivering an exceptional golf experience is

greatly appreciated. The Board and membership sincerely thank you for taking such great care of us. Football season is here, fall weather is hopefully not far behind, and another outstanding season of programming awaits us. I encourage everyone to continue taking advantage of the exceptional golf, tennis, fitness, dining, and social events that make San Jose Country Club such a special place. Thank you for your continued support and for everything you do to make San Jose Country Club a truly special community. See you at the Club!

Welcome To Our New Members We are both Jacksonville natives, graduating from Sandalwood High School and Stanton College Prep, with deep roots in the San Jose and Beaches communities. After college and marriage, we moved to San Diego to build our careers but always planned to return home to raise our family surrounded by loved ones. We returned to Jacksonville in 2015 and have since welcomed four children: Fiona (11), Eloise (9), Robert "Bo" (7), and Daphne (4). Fiona will attend San Jose Catholic this fall, while Eloise, Bo, and Daphne will attend Hendricks Avenue Elementary. As a family, we stay active through sports and the arts, from martial arts, theater, soccer, and dance to family pickleball matches on our home court.

Sarah has worked in pharmaceutical development for 14 years, and Bob has nearly 20 years of experience in IT engineering. We both work from home in the original San Jose Estates neighborhood, directly across from SJCC, making the club's rich history and connection to our community especially meaningful. With many of our neighbors and friends already members, we believe SJCC would be an excellent fit for our family and look forward to building lasting friendships & becoming active participants in the club.

Hello! My name is Joe Simourian, and I am currently a Naval Intelligence Officer at NAS Jacksonville. I grew up in northern Massachusetts (I’m still adjusting to the Jacksonville heat), and attended college at the United States Naval Academy, where I played baseball for 4 years. Since graduating in 2022, I have lived in Annapolis, San Diego, Pensacola, Virginia Beach, Omaha, and as of a month ago, Jacksonville! I am so excited to join the great community at San Jose and am looking forward to meeting this clubs amazing members!

Welcome To Our New Members Charlie and Megan recently relocated to Jacksonville from Florida's Space Coast and are happy to be putting down roots, settling into their new home, and exploring the area. Charlie works in the transportation and logistics industry, and Meg works in pharmaceuticals. They are thrilled to welcome their first child this fall. Charlie is an avid golfer and Meg is learning to play. They enjoy fitness, travel, cooking together, and playing with their beloved dog Patton.

As a Jacksonville native, I am proud to apply for membership at San Jose Country Club. I grew up in the Bartram area, just off Racetrack Rd. After high school at Stanton, I attended the University of Florida and graduated in 2019 with a bachelor’s in biology. Although a lifelong Gator, I moved to New York to attend medical school at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine.

In 2023, I returned home to complete my residency training at UF Health. Membership at San Jose is my residency graduation gift to myself for all those long nights, weekend shifts, and 24 hour call in the ICU. I am continuing my medical education at UF and subspecializing in nephrology. Outside of medicine, I enjoy golfing and fitness. I am looking to expand my hobbies with my new found free time. I look forward to meeting everyone.

Welcome To Our New Members Both Florida natives, Nick grew up in Sarasota, while Missy was raised in Ormond Beach. They met while attending the University of North Florida (SWOOP!), where Missy later earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership. She now works as a specialist with the St. Johns County School District. Nick, who holds an MBA from the University of South Florida, serves as a Senior Vice President in Business Banking at Bank of America.

They have two children, Emilia, 8, and Baylor, 5 and a very spoiled dog, Roscoe. In their free time, they enjoy playing golf, spending time outdoors with their family, and cheering on the Jaguars, Buccaneers, and Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Schooler family, Zach, Ferrin, Olivia, Vivian, and Hannah, is a fun, energetic bunch with long‑standing Jacksonville roots. Both Zach and Ferrin have each lived here for more than 20 years and each earned degrees from UNF and JU. Zach oversees Sales and Marketing for a Medical Device company, while Ferrin is an Oncology Nurse turned Stay‑At‐Home Mom, now expertly juggling schedules, snacks, and the busy lives of three young daughters.

They love spending time outdoors: traveling, golfing, fishing, beaching, pooling, and exercising. Indoors, they enjoy cooking, reading, and showing off serious talent in hair, makeup, and fashion, skills that come in handy for making sure everyone looks presentable walking into church on Sundays. The girls stay active in Dance and Gymnastics, and when football season arrives, the Schoolers proudly cheer on their Jaguars, decades long loyal fans through every high, low, and “maybe next year.” type years.

Welcome To Our New Members Hello! My name is Ben Burton. I am originally from Charleston, South Carolina and have been a Jacksonville resident since July of 2025. I graduated from the US Naval Academy in 2022 where I was a member of the varsity golf team for 4 years. After USNA, I moved to Pensacola, Florida to complete flight school and am currently serving as a helicopter pilot at NAS Jacksonville. I look forward to spending time at San Jose and getting to meet some incredible people along the way!

Ben Burton We are New England natives happily embracing the Florida lifestyle! After several wonderful years with Nemours in Pensacola, we've recently relocated to Jacksonville to continue our work as physicians with the organization. Our youngest, Sean, will be starting 6th grade at Bolles this fall, while his four older siblings (ages 20– 29) are keeping busy up north in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Between them, we have one rising college junior, two graduate students, and one proud Boston consultant who's officially launched into the working world.

Welcome To Our New Members My name is Raj Ghosh, and my longtime girlfriend is Madelyn Brenner. We are previous residents of Jacksonville, Florida. We’ve resided in Gainesville, Ocala, and Charleston the past 5 years after Jacksonville. I have been playing professional golf the past 6 years, with status on PGA Tour Latinoamerica, PGA Tour Americas, Asian Development Tour, and have competed in various Korn Ferry Tour events. My girlfriend, Madelyn, is a new attorney at a law firm in downtown Jacksonville.

My name is Hayley Crosby. I’m a Jacksonville native and an insurance defense attorney. I attended the University of South Carolina for both my undergraduate studies and law school. Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my son. We love visiting theme parks, swimming, and finding new things to do together. I also enjoy trying new restaurants, spending time with friends and family, and relaxing at home with our two dachshunds, who are very much part of the family.

Since reopening after aerification, the course has been busy, and it has been great to see so many members out enjoying it. Thank you for continuing to support the Golf Shop for your merchandise needs. Your support makes a difference, and we appreciate the opportunity to serve you.

Course Reminders As we move into another busy month, please remember that pace of play is important. We encourage everyone to strive for a four-hour round or less and allow faster groups to play through when appropriate. Proper golf attire is also required for all members and guests.

Racquet Sports Fall Into a New Season of Tennis at San Jose September is here, and the San Jose courts are buzzing again! After a busy summer, it is great to see league matches, clinics, junior tennis, pickleball, lessons, and plenty of friendly competition filling the courts. Fall is always one of our favorite times of year, and we love seeing familiar faces return while welcoming new players into the San Jose Racquets community.

Ladies League Season Our Ladies League teams are officially getting their seasons underway, and we wish all of our San Jose players a fun and successful season. Winning is always exciting, but great teammates, good sportsmanship, and enjoying the competition are what truly make league tennis special.

Junior Tennis Is Back The Fall Junior Program is off to a fantastic start! From Tots and Red Ball through Green, Yellow, and Performance, there is great energy on the junior courts.

A huge thank you to Erika and our entire professional staff for continuing to create a program where juniors can learn, compete, make friends, and most importantly, have fun!

Fall Tennis Events Our Tennis & Pickleball Staff is excited for another great season. Be sure to sign up for Labor Day Tennis on September 7th from 9:00–11:00 AM and Ladies Night on September 15th from 6:00– 8:00 PM. Take a clinic, play a match, try something new, or bring the kids out to the courts. Thank you for making the San Jose Racquets Program such a special place to play!

Fitness & Aquatics September Wellness at San Jose

September is here, football season is right around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to get back into your fitness routine!

The pool will remain open for members to enjoy until the temperatures get a little too chilly, unless you’re one of our resident polar bears!

Fall Into Fitness

When visiting the pool, please remember to check in at the Fitness Center front desk before heading out. This helps our team stay aware of who is using the pool area and allows us to continue prioritizing the safety of our members and guests.

Come see us at the Fitness Center and check out everything we have going on this fall. We have a few exciting updates to our group fitness schedule, including Christine’s Friday Mat Pilates class moving to an 8:30 AM start time and a brand-new Cardio Barre class with Debbi on Wednesdays at 6:00 PM. We also continue to offer personal training, Pilates Reformer sessions, group fitness classes, and plenty of opportunities to stay active while enjoying the great community we have here at San Jose.

RECIPE OF THE MOMENT Peach BBQ Chicken Tera Parker Interim Executive Chef This savory Peach BBQ Chicken is packed with bold flavor, featuring a perfectly seasoned marinade and a sweet, smoky peach bourbon barbecue sauce. It’s the perfect balance of tangy, savory, and just a touch of sweetness.

DIRECTIONS Chicken 1.Put garlic cloves, shallots, chili powder, brown sugar, mustard, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and olive oil in a blender & blend until smooth and set aside

INGREDIENTS

2.Rinse and dry chicken & place chicken in a mixing bowl 3.Pour marinade over chicken and allow to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour/breasts & 2 hours/thighs

Chicken 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs ( I prefer thighs; they have more flavor)

4.Remove chicken from marinade and remove any excess (you want some to stay on, so you don’t want to pat it dry) 5.Grill until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 140
