Dear Members,
As summer concludes and school restarts, San Jose is ready for another exciting fall Football is here (Roll Tide) and the weather should be cooperating for our great fall activities Make sure you check the calendar of events to participate
I would like to address our snapshot chart we publish each month below my letter Like all clubs, summer months are usually budget losses This is due primarily to increased staff for summer activities, less club usage due to vacations and club maintenance for a couple of weeks leading to loss revenue and greater course maintenance expenses This is accounted for in our budget and is expected to be part of our annual operating costs We are on budget for 2024
The Board is excited to announce the new membership incentive passed by the Board this month As appreciation for members referring new members per our process, we will grant 6 months dues abatement for the (category of the new member) referring member You must contact Amanda Anderson, our Director of Membership and submit your referral. San Jose has always been a member referral club and now is time to put forward new members!
As we move to fall, the Board would like to remind the members that “members are responsible for the actions and conduct of each individual in his or her family and for guests of such member” Employees should be treated with dignity and respect Also, Employees do not make the rules but are required by the Board to see the rules are respected by members and their guests alike
Update on the fitness center: As with all renovations, delays are usually part of the process. Unfortunately, we have a few supply issues we are working to resolve and deliver as soon as possible but it now appears that our Grand Opening will be in October Budget wise, we allocated $1 5 million and with the moisture intrusion costs, some structural repairs uncovered during demolition, and delays, we will spend approximately $1 6 million Pate Foshee and Connie Turner have spearheaded this project for the club, and we owe them our gratitude for their outstanding oversight Look for our newest video on our progress in the next week Our staff under the leadership of our new Fitness Director, Randy Woodrum, has some great plans for classes and opportunities in our new facility
The Board is busy with our budget process, strategic plan rollout and implementation and a bylaws review. I would like to thank our Board for their volunteer service and their time commitment to make San Jose Country Club the best in Jacksonville We have a busy agenda for the rest of the year and look forward to sharing more in the coming months
Sincerely,
Ladson Montgomery San Jose Club President
I am thrilled to announce that the recent referral promotion of one month of dues credit has been approved to increase to six months of dues credit. This new initiative is designed to reward you for bringing your friends and family into our community while enhancing the Club’s vibrant atmosphere.
Referral Bonus: Receive a six-month dues credit for each new member you refer who joins San Jose Country Club. This dues credit will be equal to the new members category of membership. What is a referral: All referrals must be received via email before the potential member reaches out. You can email these referrals to Amanda.anderson@sjccjax.com
Promotion Dates: This offer is available for all referrals that join from now util December 31st, 2024. Value of Referrals: Member referrals have been a cornerstone of our Club’s growth for decades. This program highlights their importance and your role in the future of San Jose Country Club.
Backed by our Finance Committee and their predictive models, this referral initiative is a carefully considered strategy to attract and retain new members. This will benefit all members by continuing and growing a strong membership base to help manage costs and improve experiences across all membership categories. This is not just a handout but a recognition of your contribution to the Club’s success. By participating, you help shape a thriving community and enhance your overall Club experience.
Earn a six-month dues credit for each successful referral. This credit will equal the joining membership level.
Promotion ends on December 31st, 2024 – don’t miss out!
Referrals are vital to our Club’s growth and your rewards. Strong membership means a better experience and cost management. Thank you for your continued support and involvement. If I can answer any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email at Amanda.anderson@sjccjax.com or by calling 904-737-9064.
Cheers, Amanda Anderson Membership Director

San Jose has emerged victorious once again, claiming the prestigious 10th Annual Ross Cup! This remarkable achievement not only highlights the team's exceptional skill and determination but also solidifies their impressive 6-4 lead in the competition.
Dear San Jose Members,
Following our recent aerification efforts, we are now shifting our attention to the fall season. In September, we are excited to introduce our Poa Annua management program, developed in partnership with Dr. Jim Brosnan from the University of Tennessee.
While this program won't completely eliminate Poa Annua from our course, it is specifically designed to reduce its prevalence and minimize its impact on both playability and aesthetics. You may still notice some Poa in certain areas, but our goal is to make it less severe and more manageable.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to enhance the quality of our course.
Cordially,
Josh Urbanec
Michael Del Rocco (left) clinched the Men’s Gross Black team Matchplay Championship by defeating Matt Saxton, while Collin Stewart (right) emerged victorious over Cary Helton to claim the Men’s Net Matchplay Championship.
Congratulations to both winners for their impressive performances!

Communication, Good Doubles Partners Say “We” & “I” Instead of “You”
Coaching Your Partner Mid-Match – NOT RECOMMENDED Be careful about what you are demanding from your partner during a match The middle of a match is a bad time to change their forehand or serve technique!
Here are a few situations to avoid.
Telling your partner what to do, especially if it is not their strengths Saying things like “dont do that” or even “do this next time” Shaking your head when they double fault, or even being silent Have fun and Good Luck this season!
