FROM THE

PRESIDENT Dear Members, As we embrace what we hope to be a cooler month in November, I am pleased to bring you some important updates and share the latest club news. First and foremost, I am delighted to announce the results of our recent Board of Governors election. We had a highly engaged and dedicated group of candidates vying for 4 spots, and it's with great pleasure that I introduce our newly elected Board members, Ken Akel, Pate Foshee, Nancy Hennessy, and Connie Turner. We are confident that their commitment to our Club's continued excellence will serve us well, and we look forward to working together to uphold the standards of our beloved San Jose Country Club. What a fun month on the clay courts where we hosted the Tennis member/member. This one-day event featured a competition between two teams, Red vs Navy. The matches were highly competitive and came down to the wire with the Navy team emerging victorious with a final tally of 34-31. Great playing by both sides. I’m also excited to report that construction of the pickleball deck has been completed. This amenity provides a wonderful social spot for you to congregate with friends and family while playing pickleball and enjoying the wonderful fall weather. I hope to see you out there soon. Down at the links we hosted our annual Member/Member golf tournament. The competition was fierce, and the sportsmanship was exemplary. It is inspiring to witness the skill and dedication that our members bring to these events, and we congratulate all our Flight Winners. A special congratulations to our champions Mike McAvoy and Carle Felton who outlasted John Pomroy and Ryan Hiebsch on the final hole of the shootout to capture the title! Well played! Our Florida/Georgia Oyster Roast was another huge success. Thank you to the staff who worked hard to continue to deliver on an incredible experience year after year. This event really kicks off the fall and holiday schedule with some fun events to follow. If your family is in town for Thanksgiving weekend, come join us at 6 pm on November 25 for one of our newer traditions, the Christmas Tree Lighting Extravaganza. These events are not only about celebration but also a way to build cherished memories with family and friends in the spirit of togetherness. Don’t forget to head over to the Club’s event calendar on the mobile app for a full list of all the holiday events that are scheduled throughout November and December. Thank you for your continued support and participation in the San Jose Country Club. Our Club is thriving because of the dedication and enthusiasm of our members, and we look forward to sharing more memorable moments together.

Stephen Frick, Jr. Stephen Frick, Jr.

GOLF NEWS AND EVENTS Happy November! The temperatures are decreasing and another year is coming to a close. Here are a couple events to keep an eye out for this month:

NICK’S CUP December 2

GOLF SHOP HOLIDAY SALE December 5

All 2023 Guest Passes will expire on 12/31/2023, so please be sure to utilize your existing passes before the year ends. Nick’s Cup | Dec 2 | - Our annual Nick’s cup will take place on Saturday, December 2nd. Sign ups began October 19th at 7am so grab a partner and partake in our annual club four-ball event. To sign up head to the club calendar and locate the Nick’s Cup on December 2nd. Golf Shop Holiday Sale | Dec 5 | An annual favorite for all involved at San Jose. Join us at 7:00am on Tuesday, December 5 for our Golf Shop Holiday Sale. There are wonderful deals and gifts for all this holiday season. Cart Path Only As we head into the fall season, this (hopefully) means a lot less rain, which will mean fewer days we are cart path only. Each week we will have a rotation of cart path only holes. When approaching the first or tenth tee a message will pop up on the cart screen to let you know which holes are cart path only. For the foreseeable future hole #4 will be added permanently as we try to reduce the stress on the turf. Please ask a golf staff member if you have any questions as we are always here to assist you.

GOLF SHOP CREDIT

All unused Golf Shop credit will now expire at the end of each year. Please use your current Golf Shop credit by 12/31/23

Golf Guest Passes A friendly reminder that all Golf Guest Packages expire on 12/31/2023 for the year. If you need to know how many passes you still have remaining, please reach out to the Golf Shop directly. Reminder the Golf Course and Golf Shop will be closing early on Thu

FEELING NERVOUS? Feeling nervous in a competitive match? These are four tips that will help you deal with your nerves. 1. Slow down between points. 2. Maintain your technical fundamentals. 3. Commit to your shot selection. 4. Keep your energy high and positive.

The first Tennis & Pickleball Member-Member was a lot of fun with Team Navy winning a close battle 34-31.
