FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Members,

Wow, what a quick month! From our annual meeting to the full calendar of events, February has been packed with activity It was fantastic to see so many events reach capacity, this seems to be a growing trend, so be sure to secure your reservations early!

Looking ahead to spring, some of our most popular events are on the horizon, including The Classic, The Lions Pride, and The Tennis Member Guest. Additionally, this year, we've moved The Catalina Wine Mixer to Saturday, March 22nd for optimal weather. Our dedicated staff works hard to make each of these events something we can all be proud to host and enjoy, so don't forget to register. On a regular basis, I also encourage you to try Chef's new menu or enjoy the daily Happy Hour specials.

Our Board remains focused on several key initiatives to shape the future direction of the club. A comprehensive review of the ByLaws is currently underway, and members will soon have the opportunity to review and vote on proposed updates. There will be plenty of chances to learn about the changes before casting your vote Additionally, the Board is evaluating our long-range funding strategy to address the needs identified in our Strategic Plan We continue to accelerate our debt paydown, which provides us with greater flexibility for this planning As a reminder, a link to our Strategic Plan is available on the website, and we will also be hosting an upcoming Coffee Talk with our General Manager, if you would like to learn more

Our Board is also committed to investing in all areas of the club to ensure its continued success Over $1 million is invested annually to keep the club current and thriving Capital investment is key to our success, driving membership growth and retention We are becoming more proactive with our capital spending, refreshing our assets across the club, on the golf course, and within the clubhouse You will continue to see the results of this investment as we move forward

As always, your feedback is valued and essential for the ongoing improvement of the member experience

Looking forward to seeing you at the club soon!

Warm regards,

Will Morgan San Jose Country Club President

CELEBRATING 100 YEARS AT SAN JOSE

This year marks a monumental milestone for San Jose Country Club as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of our historic golf course. In 1925, renowned golf course architect Donald Ross crafted a layout that has withstood the test of time, offering both challenge and inspiration to golfers of all levels. His design, emphasizing strategy over length, continues to provide an unforgettable experience for our members.

Donald Ross, famous for designing over 400 courses across the U.S., is celebrated for his emphasis on playability and natural beauty. His designs, known for their strategic placement of hazards, bunkers, and greens, require precision and thoughtful shot-making. Ross’s philosophy ensures that his courses remain enjoyable for both professionals and amateurs alike.

At San Jose, Ross’s influence is felt on every hole. His design principles have created a

course that remains relevant and challenging, while still welcoming newcomers to the game. Over the years, our course has served as the backdrop for countless rounds of golf, from friendly matches to competitive tournaments, becoming a staple in the local golfing community.

As we mark 100 years of tradition, we honor Donald Ross’s lasting impact on the game of golf. His emphasis on strategy, shot-making, and course maintenance revolutionized how the game was played. Today, we recognize not only the lasting influence he has had on our course but on the entire sport.

Looking ahead, we remain committed to preserving our rich history while evolving the golfing experience for all our members. The next 100 years promise even more remarkable moments and accomplishments, and we are excited to embrace the future with the same optimism and anticipation that guided Ross in designing this timeless course.

Thank you to our members for being an integral part of this journey. Here’s to 100 more years of golfing excellence at San Jose Country Club!
