FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Members,

Summer has arrived at San Jose Country Club, and with it comes a full calendar of activities and events for summer camp to our expanding lineup of fitness classes, there are plenty of ways to get involved and stay a

Over at the pool, we ’ re excited to introduce new menu items, extended hours, and fun weekly events like Taco Tuesdays and daily poolside treats We’re also pleased to share that our pool furniture will soon be refreshed thanks to a warranty replacement, new fabric is expected to arrive in July

As we enjoy more time at the Club with family and friends, it’s important to be mindful of the rules and standards that help make San Jose such a special place These include expectations around club attire, cell phone usage, general decorum inside the clubhouse, and the supervision of children under 12 while on property Staff members have been asked to offer reminders when needed, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Of particular concern is the safety of non-golfing family members on the course during play please help us ensure a safe environment by keeping all guests off the course when golf is in progress. Our staff is here to support, but not to parent.

With all of this activity, it’s worth remembering how much use our Club’s assets receive from the golf course and tennis courts to pool furniture, kitchen equipment, and HVAC systems Ongoing wear and tear is a natural part of club life, which is why thoughtful capital planning is so critical to maintaining the high-quality experience our members expect

The Board of Governors continues to prioritize capital planning with the help of a comprehensive Capital Reserve Study completed by Club Benchmarking This study tracks every asset on property, assigning each one a projected replacement cost and timeline It serves as a valuable tool to guide our decision-making, ensuring we stay ahead of expected needs while also preparing for the unexpected This disciplined approach allows us to replenish and reinvest in the Club responsibly and sustainably.

And finally, don’t forget to make your reservations for our July 3rd Party a signature event at San Jose featuring food, festivities, and an exciting fireworks display It’s sure to be a night to remember

See you around the club!

Warm regards,

CELEBRATING 100 YEARS AT SAN JOSE

Dear San Jose Country Club Members,

This year marks a truly remarkable milestone at San Jose Country Club — the 100th anniversary of our iconic Donald Ross-designed golf course. For a full century, our 18hole course has stood as a testament to timeless design, cherished traditions, and unforgettable moments on the fairway.

In recognition of this historic occasion, we are honored to receive a commemorative plaque from the Donald Ross Society — a prestigious acknowledgment of our course’s place among the most treasured works of one of golf’s greatest architects.

Join Us for a Very Special Happy, Happy Hour!

 Thursday, June 5th

 Plaque unveiling & centennial toast

We invite all members to raise a glass with us as we officially unveil our new plaque and kick off a year-long celebration of golf, camaraderie, and heritage. The fun doesn’t stop there — each month during our Happy, Happy Hour events, we’ll be stepping back in time with decadethemed celebrations, from the roaring ’20s to the vibrant 2000s. Expect themed cocktails, music, and memories from every era that shaped our club and the game we love. Here’s to 100 years of excellence — and the many more still to come!

With heartfelt appreciation, The San Jose Country Club Team

Dear San Jose Members,

As part of our continued commitment to the long-term health and playability of the golf course, we want to inform you about the essential agronomic work taking place during the scheduled course closure from May 27 through June 9

One practice we are conducting during closure is drilling down to an 8-to-9-inch depth and backfilling with sand. While it might not be the most glamorous part of course maintenance, it plays a crucial role in preserving and enhancing the quality of our greens, and hopefully, extending the life of our greens. What this does is provide greater oxygen in our root zone, increase water percolation, and most importantly promote deeper root growth That deeper root zone strengthens the turf, helping it withstand biotic and abiotic stress

In addition to aerifying all playing surfaces, our team is verticutting and topdressing tees and approaches. While much of this work goes unseen once the course reopens, it makes a significant difference in the way the course plays and presents itself throughout the year.

We appreciate your patience while this work is underway Thank you for your continued support
