FROM THE PRESIDENT

Fellow members, Summer is here and the club is alive and thriving!

Congratulations to all our flight winners, overall Champions Damon Olinto Jr and Darren O’Day - and the entire San Jose Team on creating one of the most memorable Lion’s Pride Tournaments to-date The course was playing well, and the team topped off the event by creating a Miami Vice themed gala- one of the most festive nights on record I am excited to see what they create next year! After an extremely successful event, our Golf Course Maintenance team has continued to remain busy We received our Spring visit from our USGA Agronomist and will provide his recommendations and findings on the Club website Reminder- the golf course will be closed, May 30th through June 9th for aerification as we enter growing season

Summer means it’s pool season and our Pool Cats Swim Team will begin their season in June. I invite you to come out and enjoy the pool this summer as we continue to plan an active social calendar for all. Our temporary Pool Bar will continue to serve as a benchmark, and we will monitor operations, usage, and member feedback to determine our course of action with our next phase in renovations.

As you may have seen over the last few weeks, we have begun several construction projects in and around the various Club areas. During these projects, we will make every effort to minimize disruptions and inconveniences to our members. We understand the importance of uninterrupted enjoyment of the club, and we will communicate project timelines and any necessary adjustments to ensure a seamless experience for all Our General Manager, Brett Curley, will be sending an update in the coming weeks, to further outline and update our On-Course restroom, Employee breakroom, and the Fitness/Tennis building projects

We’ve had a great Spring here at San Jose filled with a spectacular tournament calendar, player development programs and PGA Jr League! We will be hosting our summer junior golf camps during the months of June and July, please see the flyer below for additional details. Be sure to sign up as Stephanie and Evan have a great itinerary that is sure to fulfill your junior golfer’s needs. As a reminder the golf course will be closed for aerification from Tuesday, May 30th through Friday, June 9th. Hours of Golf Shop Operation will be 8:00 am-2:00 pm each day as we will be here to assist with reciprocals, golf bags, shopping, or any assistance you may need here at the club If you ’ re looking to plan ahead, here is a list of courses that will be available for tee times on a limited basis: Deerwood, Jax Golf & CC, Ponte Vedra Inn and Club - Ocean, St. John’s Golf Club, Eagle Harbor, Eagle Landing, Oak Marsh, Amelia National, King & Bear and Slammer & Squire.

Congratulations to our 2023 Lions Pride Member Guest Champions Damon Olinto Jr and Darren O’Day! It was a great shootout as always and at the end, the team of Olinto Jr and O’Day prevailed! On hole 17 Olinto Jr hit a stinger drive that covered the water, leaving his partner with a mid-iron into the green. O’Day hit his shot to the right side of the green leaving Olinto Jr with a 63-foot putt for eagle. Olinto Jr sunk the putt and created an absolute electric environment! They went on to par the last hole with a stroke beating the team of Lance Stoner and Ryan Cole Thanks to all 120 participants for competing in such a great event, what a way to cap off our spring season.

The Pickleball courts are officially open!

We are happy to announce that the fastest growing sport in America has arrived to SJCC and our Pickleball courts are open for play. Reservations are available both by calling the Tennis Shop and online. The playing surface is Har-Tru clay hydro court and plays softer with less impact than a traditional hard court. Our Pickleball courts are still in their infancy, but we are “rolling/packing” them every day and tweaking the water to make them more compact and a harder surface Also, we have the approved har-tru pickleballs in the tennis shop – stop in prior to ensure you are playing with the court balls adapted to our playing surface.

PLEASE WEAR APPROPRIATE SHOES WHEN PLAYING NO RUNNING SHOES OR SHOES WITH A LOT OF TREAD.

FITNESS & AQUATICS NEWS AND EVENTS

I hope everyone is having an amazing start to their summer Pool season is officially here! If you haven’t already started taking advantage of our pool here, this is the time to do it. Between private parties, aqua aerobics, swim team, or just enjoying a casual day out at the pool, there is always something happening. Our phenomenal summer staff are 100% focused on making sure that everyone has an incredible, fun, and safe experience at the pool. Keep an eye out for any of the special pool events in emails or the flyers around the clubhouse so you don’t miss any of the fun this summer!
