PRESIDENT Dear Members, As we bid farewell to 2023, I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for contributing to yet another successful year at the San Jose Country Club. The enthusiasm and engagement from our members have truly made this a remarkable and thriving community. Throughout the year, we witnessed incredible member participation in various events, tournaments, and social gatherings. Your dedication to making the club a vibrant and welcoming place has not gone unnoticed. It's your passion for the San Jose Country Club that has allowed us to create memorable moments and build lasting connections within our community. Looking forward to 2024, we have exciting developments on the horizon. The board will be working with Club Benchmarking to develop a long term Strategic Plan for the club. As part of this process, we will host focus groups, interviews, and a survey of the members. Your feedback is important to us through this process. Our goal is to ensure that San Jose continues to improve and deliver an experience that our members can be proud of. Look for more communication at the start of the new year. I know everyone is anxiously awaiting word on the start of the renovation of the Fitness and Tennis building. Right now, the hold up is with the city permitting process. There have been several rounds of comments between our contractor and the city. Anyone who has gone through a construction project at home or in business has likely experienced the same. We expect to begin later this month and will communicate with the membership as soon as we get the green light. As an important part of the preparations for the coming year, the board has finalized the Officer positions at our November meeting. Please join me in welcoming: Mrs. Melinda Stivers, Secretary; Dr. Steve Simmons, Treasurer; Will Morgan, PresidentElect to our SJCC Board of Governors. As my time as the President of the club ends, I want to extend my sincere appreciation to our Board of Governors for their tireless efforts in steering our club towards success. Their commitment to maintaining the highest standards and enhancing member experiences has been instrumental and I have full confidence that next year’s board, led by incoming President Ladson Montgomery, will be equally up to the challenge. Thank you to our staff, department heads, and management. I have grown close to all of you and the one thing I will truly miss is working closely with you. I have made many friendships over this last year that I know will last a lifetime. I’d be remiss if I didn’t say thank you to my children and especially my wife, Olivia. When I was approached about serving in this role, she was very supportive because she knows how much this place means to me. We knew it would require quite a bit of my time. Boy did it! Her patience and understanding throughout the year mean more than I can express. I am a blessed man. Thank you once again for making 2023 a fantastic year at the San Jose Country Club. I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and look forward to seeing all of you in 2024. Wishing you a joyous holiday season and a Happy New Year!

S. Thompson Tygart, Jr. Tom is survived by his wife, Judy of 55 years, children, Tyler, Travis and Lindsey as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tom and Judy are long time members of San Jose and Tom will truly be miss within the San Jose Family and Jacksonville Community.

Golf Shop Holiday Sale Dec 5th - Our annual Christmas sale is sure to be filled with an outstanding variety of the best golf apparel with great values. The Doors will open at 7am so be sure to get here early for the best selection. Sunday December 24th – Golf Course open, electric carts required until 2pm. Golf course and golf shop will close at 4PM. Sunday December 31st – Carts Required until 2pm Monday January 1st – Course open, carts required until 12pm Tuesday January 2nd – Course closed Saturday January 6th – 12th annual Short Game Championship, online registration is now open. FITNESS & AQUATICS NEWS AND EVENTS By now most of you probably have heard that December will be my last month here at San Jose. It was a bittersweet decision that I made but I am truly grateful for my time here at San Jose. First, I would like to thank all the members that are my clients. You all are the reason that I love what I do, and that work does not feel like work when I am here. Even though I was the Personal Trainer, there have been numerous times that you all were the ones teaching me something. All the hours that I have spent guiding you all will always be my favorite memories here at San Jose. I would also like to thank the staff for giving me the opportunity to be apart of the San Jose family. Especially to Ellen, who is the one that first reached out to me and gave me the chance to be a Group Instructor here three years ago! Also, to Chase, Stephen, and Brett who allowed me the opportunity to step up as the Interim Director of Fitness and Aquatics. There were many challenging situations as the Interim Director, but I am thankful for all of them as they have taught me many lessons that I will be able to continue to apply in both a professional and personal matter. My last day will be Friday December 29th, please feel free to continue to come by if there is anything you need! I will still be in Jacksonville so even after I leave if there is anything I can do to help, please feel free to reach out!
