We are heading into a special time of year, as we prepare the end of 2022, let us not forget to reflect on the social camaraderie we have shared during our 75th Anniversary. By focusing on entertainment and fun, our staff and Committee, built some magical moments: from homage to our history in the 1947 dinner, Lion’s Pride Havana Nights Gala, Catalina Wine Mixer, culminating this Summer with our Anniversary Bash and Fireworks.
The upcoming holiday season will continue to bring a sense of joy and excitement at the Club. It began with our Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, and leads into the excitement around Santa, holiday dance parties, and the Member Holiday Party December 10. We are thrilled to let the festivities begin!
In addition, the Board and Finance Committee, in conjunction with our professional staff, have been reviewing our 2023 financial model Last month, we outlined several key factors for long term sustainable success: the operating and capital ledger The dues fund our operating experience, and initiation fees our capital ledger respectively The initiation fee funds a given Club's membership engine and experience through our market's objective assessment of strength Clubs with higher initiation fees have more members and a more compelling member experience; our board of Governors, and professional staff have outlined the 2023 Initiation fees on the next page
More than ever before, our members have different needs and interests. We understand and will adhere to practices that create raving fans, are financially responsible, and are predicated on market conditions. In summary, the key to sustainable financial success is a comprehensive, accurate, forward looking capital plan. Every club that creates one will be assured of meeting the future with a strong balance sheet supported by members who think like owners and who are committed to proactively contributing the necessary capital to meet the future.
Setting dues appropriately, strengthening purchase practices, managing working capital, and properly funding capital reserves are time tested practices of successful clubs.
Finally, our board finalized the Officer positions at our November meeting This ever important part of our culture is necessary to keep the club relevant in the long term Please welcome: Mrs Mandy Gast, Treasurer; Mrs Christine McGill, Secretary, and Mr Josh Kennedy, President Elect to our SJCC Board of Governors Our 2023 President, Mr Stephen Frick has begun the process of Committee development, if you have a desire to serve your club in a greater capacity, please inquire with me, a fellow board member, or our executive leadership team
As “winter” approaches, and weather cools, please visit the Club calendar, website, and social media pages to see the exciting events planned With my term as President coming to a close, I would like to thank you for your continued support of your Club. Stephanie and I have made San Jose our home for nearly 20 years, and I look forward to serving in my role alongside so many as Past President. We look forward to fostering the Club for years to come.

Thank you to all our members who participated in the 2022 Senior Club Championship Saturday was certain to be a test of golf with the cooler temperatures and light rain in the forecast. Congratulations to Mid Amateur winners Gross Tim Haug, Net Jason Poole, Senior Division winners Gross Stephen Joost, Net Nate Rexroth, Super Senior Division winners Gross David McCormick, Net Jeff Henderson and Super Sonic Senior Division winners Gross Fred Tygart, Net Pat Andreu
Even though the temperatures are cooler and day light hours are less, we are seeing very good results from our projects completed in late October and early November. As we move into December, we are looking forward to visits from USGA agronomist, Jordan Booth, in addition to a civil engineer which will assist in updating our drainage plan on the course. These experts will assist our team in developing a comprehensive drainage enhancement plan to ensure our course is prepared for peak season 2023. We have several repairs that are needed, 2 of which are collapsed drain lines into the lakes on holes #3 and #12. The outfall ditch that parallels hole #14 left of the cart path has, over the last 25 year, gathered organic debris and soil creating a delta which is holding the water from exiting San Jose property and slowing other portions of our internal drainage systems Other additional drainage is to include over 1600 feet of 2 inch micro slit drain tile, just as we added on #2 approach, and holes 14, and 16 fairway

The warm and joyful holiday season is always a fun time of year and I’m sure that many of you have a ski trip, golf outing, or other adventure on the horizon Each year I hear about different trips or occasions that had all the makings of a best vacation ever, but then you or someone with you gets hurt It might be from bravely venturing beyond the bunny slopes, being a little too ambitious about reaching the green in two on that long par five, or just the fact that you may be far more deconditioned than you ever realized! If you are looking to make the most of a planned vacation and you don’t want to end up telling your story about the trip that could have been really fun, I suggest spending a little time here in the gym, building up those muscles that you ’ ve forgotten about in the year since your last ski/hiking/golf trip! For those who really want to go the extra mile in their preparation, come see one of our amazing personal trainers! They know exactly which muscles to target to make the most of any activity you anticipate partaking in!
For many people, the best part about the holidays is getting to spend time with family and loved ones All of us here in the Fitness Center feel very fortunate to be a part of such an amazing organization where so many of you the members, truly make us feel like a part of your families From myself and all the Fitness Staff, thank you for another great year! We wish you and yours very happy holidays and an amazing new year!
As our Club continues in the pursuit of offering the best facilities, programming, and professional staff for the benefit of our members, we are steadily evaluating current offerings and making operational adjustments to remain competitive in our market To that end, starting November 1 the Club will increase the daily, monthly, and Kid’s Club Dinner childcare rates. The daily drop in rate will be $10/hr per child, the monthly unlimited rate will be $150 for the first child and $75 for each additional child, and the Kid’s Club Dinner rate will be $30 per child We appreciate your understanding and we look forward to providing an even more fun, enriching, and safe Club experience for all of our youngest members!
