FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Members,

Summer has been bustling at San Jose Our swim team took home 2nd place at the River City Championships, showcasing our clubs strong traditions Our club activities, including hosting swim meets, attract visitors who want to experience all that San Jose has to offer With pool season still going strong until Labor Day, be sure to take advantage and cool off with us

The fitness center renovation is progressing well, and we are looking forward to reopening in September. Stay tuned for our next video update on the progress Despite recent challenges such as a pool motor problem, I want to express my gratitude to the staff for their hard work in addressing these issues promptly We understand that with the age of our facilities, problems may arise, but we are committed to resolving them and providing a positive member experience

As our facilities age, it is important that we continue to invest in our campus to ensure we can deliver the best possible experience for our members Thank you for your continued support as we work through these challenges and make improvements to our beloved San Jose.

On the golf front, please note that we will be closed from August 5th through the 9th for our late summer transition to fall Our superintendent and his team have done a fantastic job preparing the course for the new season, and it is in excellent condition for play Congratulations to Adam Waller for his victory in the Jacksonville Amateur - a proud moment for his mom, Marie

As we gear up for the fall season, I would like to remind all members to take care of our club by repairing ball marks, raking traps, filling divots, and driving carts only where permitted. By doing so, we can enhance the experience for everyone. Additionally, I kindly ask parents to supervise their young children while at the club, especially on the golf course, where safety is our top priority

Looking ahead to fall, we have a calendar full of exciting club activities planned for our members to enjoy Make sure to take advantage of these opportunities and embrace the San Jose family experience

We look forward to seeing you at the club!

Sincerely,

MEMBERSHIP MATTERS AUGUST EDITION

As we near the end of the summer season, it has been a joy to witness numerous junior golfers on the course and attending tennis camp! We extend our best wishes to each of our families for a fantastic start to the upcoming school year.

We are thrilled to announce an exciting new addition to our membership experience at San Jose Country Club. Recently, the Board approved a Member Referral Program designed to show our appreciation for introducing new members to our wonderful club.

Here's how it operates: for every new member you refer who becomes a part of the club, you will receive a referral reward equivalent to one month of dues. We want to acknowledge and thank you for your role in the growth of our club.

The referral program is intended to cultivate a strong sense of community among our members and encourages you to share the advantages of being a part of San Jose with your friends, family, and associates. Whether they are passionate golfers, tennis lovers, or simply looking for a place to relax and connect, we invite you to extend an invitation for them to explore all that the club has to offer. If you have any potential membership prospects in mind, please feel free to contact me at Amanda.Anderson@sjccjax.com or (904)-472-5001.

I am excited to welcome your friends and families to San Jose.

Best Regards,

SNAG JUNIOR GOLF

Please be mindful when using the practice facilities by using proper divot patterns to preserve and promote excellent turf health We ask that you please use linear divot patterns which use the smallest amount of turf when practicing A scattered divot pattern removes the most amount of turf because a full divot is removed with every swing Scattering divots results in the most turf loss and uses up the largest area of a tee stall This forces the golf facility to rotate tee stalls most frequently and often results in an inefficient use of the tee

A concentrated divot pattern removes all turf in a given area While this approach does not necessarily result in a full-sized divot removed with every swing, by creating a large void in the turf canopy there is little opportunity for timely turf recovery

The linear divot pattern involves placing each shot directly behind the previous divot In so doing, a linear pattern is created and only a small amount of turf is removed with each swing This can usually be done for 15 to 20 shots before moving sideways to create a new line of divots So long as a minimum of 4 inches of live turf is preserved between strips of divots, the turf will recover quickly Because this divot pattern removes the least amount of turf and promotes quick recovery, it is the preferred method

Dear San Jose Members,

Our Poa Annua treatment plan for the golf course will begin in September. Please note that the products used may result in phytotoxicity and stunting of the turf, which is a normal occurrence. While this herbicide plan will not completely eradicate Poa, it will help reduce the severity of our Poa infestation from fall through spring.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Golf and Grounds. Thank you!

Cordially,

Congratulations... Congratulations to our MGA Shootout Champions! Matt Saxton (left) took home the Gross Shootout title and Bob Crouch (right) came out on top in the Net Shootout!
