Dear Members,
The first quarter of the year has gone by fast. As we head into spring and summer, we are moving forward with our tennis and fitness renovations after a brief pause to solve our water intrusion problem. We will be sending further updates with photos as we progress.
Summer will be busy around the club. Many of these events are opportunities to showcase San Jose. Our club is dependent on members referring friends, relatives and business associates for membership. Financially, we would all benefit from increasing our membership by bringing in new members to share our great club family. Please reach out to Jessica Payne if you know someone that would enjoy being a part of our club.
The strategic planning committee is busy formulating our long-term plan as directed by our members. Updates will be out to the members in the next couple of months. Thank you to the members who participated in the surveys as your valuable input will help shape San Jose for years to come.
Our staff continues to make San Jose member experiences special. Check out our theme night dinners but make reservations because the reviews have been great and they will fill up fast. We appreciate member input, both positive and not so positive, so feel free to contact Stephen Whitson or your board of governors with any suggestions. We expect San Jose to reflect the members expectations as we strive to continue to grow and improve.
See you around the club,
Thank you and see you at the Club!
Sincerely,
Ladson Montgomery San Jose Club PresidentGraduation season is here – it's time to celebrate your success! Ensure your special day is marked with elegance and joy Limited availability – book now to avoid disappointment.

Dear San Jose Members,
April is here and two of our favorite events come along with it, The Masters and The 2024 Club Championship! Andrew Morgan will look to defend his title at the end of the month against a field full of great players If you haven’t yet, be sure to sign up for the Club Championship which will be held April 26th, 27th and 28th
Congratulations to our Senior Member Guests Champions, Mark Taylor and Robert Davis who carded rounds of 66 –63 to take the overall championship! What a great weekend for golf and fellowship it was as we had 52 teams battle for the title through rain and windy conditions
Also, another BIG congratulations to SJCC Golf Professionals, Stephanie Connelly Eiswerth & Hayes Farley as they will be competing in the PGA Professionals National Championship on April 28th-May 1st!
Have you downloaded the new AccuRange app? If not, you can search in your app store or head down to the range, on the bag stands you will find the QR code to download Once you have installed the app you will have access to a range map that will provide you with a distance to each marker If you need assistance, please stop by the golf shop as we ’ re happy to assist!
As always, if you ’ re practicing on the range, please be sure to use proper divot patterns! This not only helps speed up our turf recovery, but also creates more space for the next member during their practice sessions Take pride in your club!
Dear San Jose Members,
Warmer temperatures and increased sunlight have started to wake the course up
This year's winter months have been problematic for superintendents throughout the Southeast Our recent course update referenced Daily Light Integral (DLI), a measurement of light available to plants over an area
Bermudagrass needs 40 mol/m2/day for robust growth, while Poa Annua needs only 20 mol/m2/day for robust growth Image 1 shows varying DLI levels on TifEagle bermudagrass which is the type of grass we have on the greens
Image 1
The only limiting factors above are quantities of light, no traffic, disease, constant rain, or poor soil We had one day of DLI at 2 9 mol in the recent winter, which does not include shade from trees Starting in December, our weekly DLI average was at or below 20 mol (Figure 1). It was great for Poa, not for bermudagrass, i.e., hole 14.

Denise has been training one on one with Ellen for almost 4 years now Even amidst the renovation process, she is still dedicated to her workouts! The workouts have gotten more creative as we utilize the space that we have during this transition time Denise always gives 100% effort in her training sessions, and never complains!
Ellen says she is such a great workout buddy that she often works out with her during her training sessions! She is up for anything and adapts as necessary Denise is also is a longtime participant of our group exercise classes! She regularly attends the evening classes on Mondays and Wednesdays We are so proud of Denises dedication, and we appreciate her support of our fitness staff so much!!
