(A)GOLFCOMMITTEE:ItshallbethedutyoftheChairmenoftheGolf Committeetoscheduleallplaydayevents,andwiththeassistanceofthe TournamentChairmantosetalltournamentdates.AGolfProfessionalwillassist inschedulingplaydaysandtournaments,aswellastodeterminethewinnersof eachevent.Twocopiesoftheresultsheetofthewinnersofeachplaydayevent shallbekeptbytheGolfChairperson,withonecopykeptinthepermanent notebookintheAssociationlocker,andonecopyplacedonthebulletinboard. TheGolfChairmanwilltransferbirdiesfromthebirdiesheettothebirdietree alsooverseetheringercards.Ringerscoreswillberecordedforscheduledplay daysonly.

(E)INTERCLUBCOMMITTEE:ItshallbethedutyoftheChairman, assistedbythecommitteemembers,toplanandconducttheInterclub TournamentandLuncheonandcoordinateparticipationwiththeother areainterclubgroups.Ifnecessary,playspotswillbedeterminedbya lotterydrawingsystem.
B)TOURNAMENTCOMMITTEE:ItshallbethedutyoftheTournament CommitteeChairman,assistedbycommitteemembers,toconductall scheduledtournamentsandmakeawards.Theywillberesponsiblefor selectionofMostImprovedPlayerwithsaidgolferplayingaminimumof 60%ofregularplaydays,andawardthisprizeattheendofeachseason.

3.NoestablishedhandicapisneededtojointheSJLNHGA,however,eachmember musthaveanestablished9-or18-holehandicaptobeeligibletoparticipateinplay dayprizesortocompeteinatournament.
1.Signuptoplayeachweekbyreplyingtotheweeklyemailnotification.Beatyour teeboxatleastfiveminutesbeforeteetime.Ifyouhavetocancel,contactthePro Shoppriortoscheduledplay,ifpossible.
9.Matchplay:Player’sscoreoneachhole,lesshandicap.
2.LadieswithmembershipinboththeNineHoleAssociationandtheEighteenHole AssociationwillhavedualmembershipandbeallowedtofullyparticipateinallNine Holeevents.Tournamentsareincluded,providedthememberhasanestablished NineHolehandicap.
5.AtanypointonanyholethatyoureachyourNetBogeyScoreascalculatedbythe WorldHandicapSystem,youwillpickupyourballwithexceptiontoaspecialty prizehole.Fortournamentplay,theplayermustholeouteveryhole.

15.ForalleventsoftheAssociationonthefrontnineholesofSanJoseCountryClub, theteeboxforhole#6willbelocatedonthenorthsideofthewater.

11.Anygroup,regardlessofnumberthatallowsafullholetoopenaheadmust permitthegroupbehindtoplaythrough.
19.Ifaplayer’sswingpathisimpededbyatreerootthatisaboveground,theplayer isentitledtoreliefwithoutpenalty(particularlyrelevantonholes7,16and17).Relief istobetakennomorethanoneclublengthfromthenearestpointofrelief,nocloser tothepin.
10.AnyNineHolegolferwhoputstwoballsinthewatermaythendropabollonthe othersideofthehazard,takethreepenaltystokesandcontinueplay.(Example:1 in,2out,3in,4out,5carriesoverthehazardandhitting6),oryoumaycontinue hittingballsoverthewater,countingallpenaltystrokes.OnHole#3,afterputting yourfirstballinthewater,youmayelecttohityoursecondballfromthegreentee boxagainortheNineHoler’sdroparea,leftofthebridge,withoutteeingupyour ball.
14.AllplayersmustplayfromforwardteesduringTournaments.
Failuretofollowtheaboveguidelinescouldresultindisqualificationfromthecompetition.
13.AllplayersmustrideinacartontheofficialThursdayTournamentplayday whenplayinginthetournament.

3.FairlyTakingAStance:Theuseof“fairly”isintendedtolimittheplayertowhat isreasonablynecessarytotakeastancefortheselectedstrokewithoutunduly improvingthepositionoftheball,hislie,areaofintendedstanceorswingorline ofplay.Ifanyvegetation(grass,leaves,branches,etc.)isaroundyourballafter findingit,don’tmove,bend,breakorpressdownanythinggrowingorfixedout oftheEarthoryou’llincurapenaltyoftwoshotsinstrokeplayorlossofholeina matchplayformat.Youmayslightlymovevegetationwhilefairly assumingyourstanceorplacingtheclubbehindyourball,butthat’sit. 4.Examplesofactionswhichdoconstitutefairlytakingastanceare: 5.Examplesofactionswhichdonotconstitutefairlytakingastanceare:

Exception:Aplayermustnotdeliberatelyremovealooseimpedimentthat, ifmovedwhentheballwasatrest,wouldhavebeenlikelytohavecausedthe balltomove.Iftheplayerdoesso,addonepenaltystroke.Theremoved looseimpedimentdoesnotneedtobereplaced.
7.RemovalofLooseImpediment:Withoutpenalty,aplayermayremovealoose impedimentanywhereonoroffthecourseandmaydosoinanyway(suchasby usingahandorfootoracluborotherequipment).
8.DefinitionofLooseImpediment:Anyunattachednaturalobjectsuchas stones,loosegrass,leaves,branchesandsticks.Deadanimalsandanimal waste.Worms,insectsandsimilaranimalsthatcanberemovedeasily,andthe moundsorwebstheybuild(suchaswormcastsandanthills).Clumpsof compactedsoil(includingaerationplugs).Suchnaturalobjectsarenotlooseif theyare:Attachedorgrowing,solidlyembeddedintheground(thatis,cannot bepickedouteasily),orstickingtotheball.Specialcases:SandandLooseSoil arenotlooseimpediments.Dew,FrostandWaterarenotlooseimpediments. SnowandNaturalIce(otherthanfrost)areeitherlooseimpedimentsor,when ontheground,temporarywater,attheplayer’soption.SpiderWebsare looseimpedimentseventhoughtheyareattachedtoanotherobject.
6.RepairontheGreen:Theserepairsareallowed.Ballmarks,shoedamage (suchasspikemarks)andscrapesorindentationscausedbyequipmentora flagstick.Oldholeplugs,turfplugs,seamsofcutturfandscrapesor indentationsfrommaintenancetoolsorvehicles.Animaltracksorhoof indentations.Embeddedobjects(suchasastone,acornortee).RepairsNot Allowed:Normalpracticesformaintainingtheoverallconditionoftheputting green(suchasaerationholesandgroovesfromverticalmowing),irrigationor rainorothernaturalforces,naturalsurfaceimperfections(suchasweedsor areasofbare,diseasedorunevengrowth),andnaturalwearofthehole.

9.RestrictionsonTouchingSandinBunker;WhenTouchingSandResultsinPenalty Stroke:Beforemakingastrokeataballinabunker,aplayermustnot:deliberately touchsandinthebunkerwithahand,club,rakeorotherobjecttotestthecondition ofthesandtolearninformationforthenextstroke,or
NoPenaltyforLeaningonaclubtorestforbalanceorstrikingthesandin frustrationorangerafterastroke.
2.EmbeddedBall:Aballis“embedded”whenitisinitsownpitchmark(fromprevious shotmade)andpartoftheballisbelowtheleveloftheground.Aballdoesnot necessarilyhavetotouchthesoiltobeembedded(e.g.,grass,looseimpedimentsand thelikemayintervenebetweentheballandthesoil).Aplayermaytakereliefforaball embeddedanywhereinthe“generalarea”,exceptwhenembeddedinsand.Intaking reliefinsand,theplayerwilldroptheoriginalballorasubstitutedballwithinone club-lengthof(butnotnearertheholethan)thespotrightbehindwheretheballwas embedded.
Touchsandinthebunkerwithaclub: Inthearearightinfrontoforrightbehindtheball(exceptasallowedunderRule 12.2ainremovingalooseimpedimentormovableobstruction), Inmakingapracticeswing,or Inmakingthebackswingforastroke.
4.Relief;ImmovableObjects:(ex:CartPaths),youmaytakereliefbydroppingaway fromthemwithinoneclublengthofthenearestpointofrelief,nonearerthehole, exceptinaPenaltyAreaoriftheobjectdefinesasoutofbounds.Inabunker,you mustdropinthebunker.Nopenalty.*Sprinklerheadsfallundertheimmovable objectumbrella.Reliefisgrantedfromsprinklerheadsonlyifyourball,intended stance,orswingisinterferedwith.Lineofplayisn’tcovered,meaningifyou’reput tingfromthefringethroughasprinklertowardsthegreen,youmightwanttobreak outawedge.

3.Relief;MovableObstruction:Withoutpenalty,aplayermayremoveamovable obstructionanywhereonoroffthecourse.Note:Ifaplayer’sballmoveswhileheor sheisremovingamovableobstructionthereisnopenaltyandtheballmustbe replacedonitsoriginalspot(which,ifnotknown,mustbeestimated).Exception:Tee Markersmustnotbemovedwhenballisplayedfromteebox.

Ifbeforetouchingtheground,adroppedballstrikestheplayer,partner,caddie, orequipment,itisre-dropped,withoutpenalty.
15.TakingRelief;Lifting,Dropping,&Placing:Ifaballtobeliftedandistobe replaced,itspositionmustbemarked.Whentakingrelief,theplayermayusea substituteaballorusetheoriginalball,whentakingpenaltyrelief,aswellaswhen takingfreerelief.
Iftheoriginallieofaballtobereplacedhasbeenaltered,placeitinthenearest similarliewithin1clublength,notnearerthehole,exceptinabunkerrecreatethe originallieandplaceitinthelie.exceptinabunkerrecreatetheoriginallieand placeitinthelie.

14.ProvisionalBall:Ifyouthinkyouroriginalballislostoroutofboundsyoucan declareyouwillhitaprovisionalball.Ifyouroriginalballisnotlostoroutofbounds, orinapenaltyarea,youmustabandonyourprovisionalballanduseyouroriginalball. Iftheballisfoundbeforeyouhit/playtheprovisional,thefirstballistheoneyoumust play.Ifyouhit/playitbeforetheoriginalballisfoundtheprovisionalballistheone thatcounts.
13.BallLostorOutofBounds:Youmaysearchfor3minutes.Ifyoucan’tfindit,adda penaltystroke,anddropaballattheplacewhereyouplayedthelastshot.Onthetee, youmayreteetheball.Ifyouthinkyouhavehityourballoutofboundsorlostit outsideaPenaltyArea,declareandplayaProvisionalBallbeforesearchingforthefirst one.Aballisoutofboundsiftheentireballisoutofbounds.Youmaystandoutof boundstoplayaballthatisinbounds.*Hole#6:Greenprivacyfenceisnotoutof bounds.Norelief,nopenalty.
DroppingtheBall-Lettheballgofromkneeheightsothatitfallsthroughtheair anddoesnottouchanypartoftheplayer’sbodyorequipmentbeforeithitsthe ground.AballtobedroppedinaPenaltyAreamustbedroppedandstayinthe PenaltyArea(aplayermaystandoutsideofapenaltyareatohitaballinsidethe penaltyarea).
