Marhaba, Executive Chef Steven Wilson Executive Chef Steven Wilson rejoins Six Senses Resorts and Spas in his recent appointment as Executive Chef at Six Senses Zighy Bay. Steven stepped away from Six Senses Soneva Fushi, graduating to Executive Chef at GHM’s luxury Vietnam Resort The Nam Hai. He returns to SLOW LIFE stating, “I thoroughly enjoy working with sustainable food trends and the exciting challenges of SLOW food. This brought me back to Six Senses and the fresh culinary opportunities of Oman.” Executive Chef Steven Wilson oversees the Culinary Team of fifty-six chefs in our four dining outlets. “The Team and I are collaborating our creative spirits to create new menus and concepts in Zighy Bay’s first bistro and add à la carte to Sense on the Edge.”

The Souq and Six Senses Gallery More aesthetic changes have come to Zighy Bay. The Souq and Six Senses Gallery are now conveniently located together, adjacent to Sablah (reception) and the LIFE Centre, emulating traditional Arabic style. This is more than a souvenir shop; offering local artists, interactive and authentic Omani handicrafts with visiting artisans and ornaments from the Omani Heritage Gallery. The outdoor lounge is a leisurely seating area where guests can enjoy afternoon dates and coffee while visiting painters illustrate their portrait.

packages and promotions A Very Omani Festive Season Charles Dickens may not quite have envisaged a Christmas future in which a group of puppets led by a dancing frog would be re-enacting his most famous Christmas tale, A Christmas Carol, on a silver screen in an open-air cinema in a beautiful bay in the Musandam Peninsula of Oman complete with cocktails, 'mocktails' and popcorn. But he would have to be a real Scrooge to find fault with a little bit of festive fun to end the year. The Muppet Christmas Carol is just one of many treats in store for families choosing to spend the Christmas holidays at serene Six Senses Zighy Bay. Shown at Cinema Paradiso by the main pool on Christmas Eve it will be preceded by a cocktail reception in the organic garden and dinner at the Shua Shack with belly dancers, illusionists and an Omani Zee Bee band providing entertainment. The fun continues on Christmas Day with an extended holiday breakfast in anticipation of Santa's keenly awaited arrival, complete with a sackful of gifts reserved for children who have been particularly well behaved this year... If you're staying on for New Year, you're in for even more fun, the highlight of which will be a New Year's Eve Gala Dinner on the Main Beach and Pool Side with live music, performances and a DJ keeping guests on their feet until the traditional countdown to 2012.

Organic Garden

Did you know that we have a 2,500 square metre Chef’s garden located centrally at the heart of our resort? Our SLOW LIFE philosophy includes an organic garden in every Six Senses and Soneva property. In Zighy Bay we use goat manure, compost and our sandy terroir to plant over twenty varieties of herbs, fruits and vegetables. Drip irrigation uses recycled water from our reverse osmosis water filtration and fresh water is used topically. Tours of the Organic Garden are offered daily and cooking classes and destination dining experiences can be tailor-made under a sunshade.

Total Lunar Eclipse and SLOW LIFE Hour A lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth and Moon are respectively aligned during a full moon. The Earth blocks the rays of the sun, causing an interference in the sunlight reaching the moon; it must first pass Earth’s dense atmosphere, causing a deep-to-dark red colour. On Saturday, 10 December at moonrise it will be visible over Zighy Bay. Conjunct with each full moon, Six Senses Zighy Bay raises awareness on the global climate crisis and reduces our carbon footprint, and initiated by the WWF’s annual Earth Hour by turning off all energy using equipment between 20:30 and 21:30. During this time, we operate by candle and moon light, offering low carbon activities and dining alternatives. Enjoy a full moon kayak on the bay at 19:30, meditation on the beach at 20:30 and Flavours of Asia on the beach or progressive Dinner in the Dark fine dining experience at Sense on the Edge. A not-to-miss celestial SLOW LIFE experience! The skies hold many wonders! Dr. Parag Mahajani, Six Senses Astronomer will return 15 – 29 February and March, 2012 for solar and celestial observations at Six Senses Zighy Bay.
