FEEL AT HOME AT SIUE On-campus living provides all the comfort, independence, and convenience you need to live your best life at SIUE. University Housing provides a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for over 3,000 students living on campus, including you!

Residence halls are staffed 24 hours a day and have controlled access. University Police regularly patrol campus and residence halls, sometimes with our favorite furry officers, Max and Chase, SIUE’s K-9 therapy dogs. The E-Lert text message system offers real-time updates during emergencies. l

Choosing a Roommate

Choose a general room assignment or join a Living Learning Community. Request a roommate or find a roommate with similar study and living habits. l

Our friendly, safe, modern residence halls are just the place to begin your college experience. First-year students live in Bluff, Prairie, or Woodland Hall. Housing is suite style — two bedrooms with one bathroom shared by up to four people. Residency Requirement All first-year, first-time students who graduated high school within the last 12 months must live on campus. Submit an exemption request at siue.edu/residency-requirement if you meet one of the approved exemption reasons, like commuting from a parent/guardian’s home address within 60 miles of campus.

Living Learning Communities (LLCs)

Dining for Every Student

LLCs allow you to live in a community with other students who share a common academic major or interest. It’s a great way to connect with like-minded students, receive educational support, and connect with faculty and staff outside the classroom. There is no additional cost to live in an LLC.

SIUE Dining Services supports student well-being, builds community and creates spaces where students can connect and thrive. Whether you’re grabbing coffee before class, meeting friends for lunch, or discovering something new, dining at SIUE is designed with you in mind.

UPPERCLASS LIVING OPTIONS Sophomores and above can choose to live in Evergreen Hall or Cougar Village Apartments.

Evergreen Hall features apartment- and suite-style rooms in a more independent residence hall environment. Cougar Village Apartments offer traditional, independent apartment-style living with the community and academic advantages of living on campus. Two-four students share two- and three-bedroom apartments. Cougar Village is also home to family and graduate housing.

Housing Application Process You can apply for University Housing as soon as you've been admitted to SIUE. Review housing options, including Living Learning Communities. The application fee and housing deposit are required to complete the housing application. The preferred fall-spring application deadline is May 1, 2027. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. l
