Meridian Scholarships Cover • Tuition at the in-state rate • Mandatory fees • SIUE housing costs up to the rate of a shared room in the freshman residence hall • Meals at meal plan A rate Scholarships do not pay for Housing or Springboard to Success deposits. Pharmacy, dental and out-of-state students may pay additional tuition costs.


Recipient Notification • Scholarship offers will be mailed by the end of February. • Official scholarship terms and conditions will be shared at that time. • Recipients are asked to accept or decline offers as soon as possible, but no later than May 1.

Student Employment • Regular Student Employment (RSE) • Federal Work Study (FWS) • Work maximum 28 hours per week • Earn minimum wage ($8.25) Visit siue.edu/studentemployment to learn more about student employment and see current openings.

Guaranteed Tuition • SIUE 2019-2020 tuition, fees and housing rates are yet to be determined • Scheduled to be approved by the Board of Trustees in the near future • Under Illinois law, tuition rates are fixed for four years • SIUE students entering fall 2019 pay the same tuition rate through spring 2022

How to Apply for Federal and State Aid • Obtain an FSA ID for student (and parent, if applicable) • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.ed.gov • The FAFSA is available October 1 prior to the academic year. For example, the 2019-2020 FAFSA was available October 1, 2018. • Use tax information indicated on the FAFSA. For 20192020, use 2017 tax information. Visit siue.edu/financial-aid for more information.


After We Receive the FAFSA • The FAFSA may be selected for verification, a federal process required for some applications. • Tax documents and institutional forms are requested to verify the information on the aid application. • If the FAFSA is not selected for verification, or after the file has been verified, an award letter is posted on CougarNet for the student to view.


CougarNet Web access to student’s personal records! • Check the status of the application for admission • Check on the availability of classes • View the student’s bill and find out how much is owed • View financial aid documents requested/received • View and print Award Statement • Check on financial aid awards • Update the student’s local, billing and email addresses • Student gives third-party access to parents/guardians, etc. Access CougarNet at siue.edu/cougarnet
