Professional Installation

A Considered Detail

Installed with care. Every Cabinex outdoor kitchen is professionally assembled and installed, ensuring every outdoor kitchen is fitted accurately and to the highest standard.

Don’t overlook the finishing touches. Include a rangehood in your outdoor kitchen to help create a cleaner, more comfortable cooking environment. It’s best considered early in the design process. 21

Before you design Before designing your outdoor kitchen, it’s important to consider where it will be installed and ensure the location is suitable. A little planning now will help ensure a smooth installation later. It is recommended that your Cabinex Outdoor Kitchen is assembled, installed and positioned wholly or partially under cover. This will protect the unit from the elements and generally keep it cleaner. When positioning the outdoor kitchen, it must conform to both State and Australian Standards. i.e. open ventilation and also distance to combustible surfaces. Refer to your BBQ instruction manual for more details. LPG Installations – Where an LPG BBQ is selected, the installation will incorporate the required gas cylinder ventilation to ensure safe operation and compliance with relevant Australian Standards.

Planning and location of water, waste, power and gas services. Ideally the floor surface should be level, clean and suitable for the cabinet installation along with water, waste, power and gas services, being able to be roughed in and compliant with all required Australian standards.

Your design and layout of your outdoor kitchen will dictate where you will need to install all relevant water, waste, power and gas services. *Note: All plumbing and electrical work must be done by a registered trades person

The services being roughed in should be left long enough to enable them to be fitted off inside the relevant cabinets after they have been installed.

Most BBQ’s have lights and may require 240V power. This is best located on the back left hand side as high as possible.

If the power point is mounted in the fridge module, the plug on the fridge may need to be changed to a side entry plug to allow the fridge to be pushed back into the cabinet.

The preferred method is to have the power point in the cabinet module next to the fridge. Cut a hole 50mm diameter in the fridge module to allow for plug access. You may require power for a Rotisserie or other electrical appliance above your benchtop working surface.

Natural ventilation requirements Currently for residential premises, barbecues are certified under a domestic appliance standard and classified as outdoor appliances. An outdoor area is considered to be open to natural ventilation.

• I f the alfresco meets the below minimum requirements, it is considered that natural ventilation is provided and an outdoor domestic BBQ may be used.

When is an alfresco considered ‘outdoors’?

• I f the alfresco does not meet the below minimum requirements, it is considered an enclosed alfresco and additional requirements must be satisfied.

•A covered alfresco area is considered outdoors when it is an open-air situation with natural ventilation.

Note: the above applies to a fully detached alfresco and or an alfresco sharing a house wall. If your BBQ area does not look like the above ‘green ticked’ area, your area will be considered “Enclosed”
