RANGEHOOD INSTALLATION

Please consider the following important items before commencing to install the rangehood:

1. The rangehood should be sized to larger than the cooking surface of the BBQ (including any side burners) to ensure adequate extraction of smoke and fumes.

2. When fitted above a BBQ with hood, consideration should be taken to create a bulkhead behind the rangehood to bring it forward from where the open hood is. This will ensure the best extraction of smoke and fumes and minimise impact of hood deflecting smoke away from the rangehood.

3. The rangehood must be ducted to an external exit point to ensure it operates and complies with local and national regulations. Vertical exit through the roof is highly recommended to provide the best performance.

4. Each fan motor must be ducted separately (do not combine to a single outlet).

• GR1200 = 2 x Ø150mm Ducts

5. Do not reduce the duct size smaller than Ø150mm.

6. Total length to exits is recommended to be less than 4m.

7. Avoid sharp bends in the duct – ideal bend radius should be 2 x duct diameter (R300mm minimum)

Excelsior Interlock System

The Excelsior Interlock System comes complete with a 24V gas solenoid valve and air switch and allows the Excelsior Rangehood, or other approved rangehoods, to be powered via the interlock controller.

Our Excelsior Interlock System, when used in conjunction with an Excelsior Rangehood, is designed to ensure the supply of gas to a gas appliance, is only possible when the connected rangehood is in operating mode.

Once installed, the unit detects when the rangehood fan is switched on and running. It then activates the air switch, which in turn energises the gas solenoid valve, allowing gas to flow to the appliance.

In the event of the rangehood fan stopping or failing to generate sufficient air flow/pressure, the air switch will trigger the gas solenoid valve to be de-energized, cutting off the gas supply to the appliance. Typically, this interlock system would be fitted to an approved gas barbecue with flame failure device that is installed in a residential alfresco area under a suitable Excelsior Rangehood.
