SWPS School Uniform
School uniform and, for the Sixth Form, a professional dress code, makes an important contribution to the ethos of the School. It gives pupils a sense of identity and puts them in the right frame of mind to learn. Our uniform is designed to promote a sense of pride, belonging and professionalism.
Students are expected to present themselves neatly at all times and to follow the school’ s uniform and appearance standards both on site and when representing the school in the wider community.
This booklet gives guidance about what is and isn’t permitted, and parents’ support is ensuring that pupils are correctly and smartly dressed is much appreciated. Although intended to be as clear as possible, an element of interpretation is inevitably required in it’s application. In this matter, the decision of the School’s staff must be final.
The School aims to ensure that its uniform expectations are fair, inclusive and reflective of our commitment to supporting every student. In line with our responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010, we will consider reasonable requests for variations to the uniform on the grounds of religious belief, disability, or gender identity, and will evaluate each request carefully and sensitively. Requests should be directed to the Deputy Head, Pastoral.
Our uniform is offered in two styles, currently described as “Male Fit” and “Female Fit,” which simply refer to differences in garment cut. Any student may choose either fit, and the School will support them in doing so, ensuring that all pupils feel comfortable and appropriately presented. Items marked as compulsory must be purchased from AlleyCatz where noted rather than any other supplier or through the Friends of SWPS Second Hand Uniform Shop.
Years 7 to 11—Male Fit
General appearance
Students in Years 7–11 are required to wear the full Sir William Perkins’s School (SWPS) uniform each day. The navy blazer with gold buttons is a compulsory element of the uniform and must be worn whenever students are outside their lessons.
Students are expected to maintain a neat and professional appearance. Hair should be well groomed, stop short of the collar line or be tied back neatly and should be kept to a natural colour and should not fall over the face, eyes or eyebrows. Hair accessories must be navy or black. Jewellery is restricted to a wristwatch and plain ear studs. The use of make-up, nail varnish, acrylic nails, additional piercings, tattoos, or hooded garments is not permitted.

Sixth Form
General appearance
Sixth Form students follow a smart-casual dress code, with business dress required for key school events.
Sixth Formers are expected to be smart and neat at all times without prompting, dress appropriately for the school environment, and take pride in their appearance.
Items such as crop tops, ripped jeans, very short skirts or shorts, and transparent clothing are not considered appropriate. Hair must remain in a natural colour, and visible tattoos or body piercings aside from plain earlobe studs are not allowed. Make up should be minimal and business-like; fake tan, false eyelashes and extensions are not allowed. False nails and extensions are prohibited.
For school events, business dress is required. Jackets/dresses/skirts/trousers should be smart, tailored and well-fitting. Skirts and dresses should be of a smart and professional length and fit.
Should a student’s clothing fall outside the expectations of the dress code, they may be asked to return home to make suitable adjustments.
PE and Games—Male Fit
Sports Kit is compulsory for all students in Years 7 to 11, and for Sixth Formers representing the School
