THE STORM
Simpson breezed past Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday, 88-37, to extend its win streak to six games and move above .500 for the first time this season. Sixteen players scored for the Storm in the win as Simpson took a massive 25-2 lead after the first 10 minutes and coasted to the victory from there. Today’s contest closes out a 3-game home slate for Simpson as they will hit the road again on Wednesday to face Central.
THE SPARTANS
Dubuque won seven consecutive games to end 2022 but has come up empty in each of its January contests thus far, falling 77-64 to Coe and 63-39 to Loras. The Spartans’ aforementioned win streak included three A-R-C victories; an 8263 win over Buena Vista, a 63-48 victory at Central and a 73-52 defeat of Nebraska Wesleyan. Dubuque, which is 1-4 in away games this year, has the second-best field goal percentage in the conference behind Simpson.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Simpson boasts a commanding 75-9 lead in the head-to-head series with Dubuque. The Storm have won the last eight matchups and has four win streaks of at least 12 games throughout the series including a 19-game winning stretch from 2004-13.
