Sanlorenzo Supports Italian Chamber of Commerce’ Charity Gala Dinner On 25 November 2016 Sanlorenzo supported the Hong Kong Italian Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Gala Dinner, with the event’s main objective being to support and empower the Women Helping Women charity. This stunning gala event was held in the Ritz Carlton Diamond Ballroom and saw over 400 guests gather, with members of the local government and business elites including major Italian brands with their APAC headquarters in Hong Kong. As a gold sponsor, Sanlorenzo displayed yacht scale models in the foyer and presented videos that demonstrated the appeal of yachting. Simpson Marine hosted several Sanlorenzo yacht owners at a dedicated Sanlorenzo table, while Mike Simpson enjoyed sharing his yachting vision with VVIP guests at the head table. Art and charity activities are always at the heart of Sanlorenzo’s social engagements and the brand will continue to support the cause in 2017 as well.

Serving as the backdrop for the event were three new yachts recently delivered to Hong Kong – the Oceanis 41.1, Oceanis 48 and Monte Carlo 6 – that were available for viewings. It was rewarding to see so many guests attending and enjoying spending their time in our special boating environment. Owners and friends enjoy our boat-filled and lively Service Centre in Aberdeen
Another slightly different owner’s activity was a Golf Tournament held on 25 March 2017, organised at the impressive premises of the Hong Kong Golf and Tennis Academy in Sai Kung in the New Territories. A group of 30 owners and families enjoyed an energising breakfast in this peaceful environment before participating in the 6-hole golf tournament with coaching offered by the Jack Nicklaus Academy Masters. After the golfing, lunch was served in the beautiful clubhouse where the winner of the tournament received the fantastic prize of a weekend stay at Hong Kong Golf and Tennis Academy (HKGTA) to enjoy sports, wellness and relaxation outside of the bustle of Hong Kong. The fun extended beyond golf, and families were welcome to enjoy the impressive Kids Academy with access to the butterfly garden, swimming pools and other sports facilities. Beneteau First 40.7 class with Richard Allen, Simpson Marine Sales Director as skipper. We enjoyed racing against 27 different teams in the First 40.7 class, and were delighted to have a boat from Beneteau America competing as well. During the Cup, Simpson Marine was proud to be presented with the Outstanding Supporting Company Award, received by Mike Simpson who during his speech congratulated CCIR for their continuous growth and dedicated support of sailing in China. Since the regatta’s first year Simpson Marine has assisted the CCIR with the initial delivery of 30 Beneteau boats for the one design class and by servicing the racing fleet during and after the regatta. For nine years we have also fielded our own crew to race in the regatta and next year we will be there too! On the penultimate evening of the regatta a Beneteau Owners’ Night saw owners and their teams gather together for a friendly drink and to exchange sailing experiences. This sailing camaraderie is exactly what we want to see in China, as a true passion for sailing grows and gains more attention. The 2016 event was fantastic for all participants and we are looking forward to supporting the CCIR for many more years to come.

The event began with the presentation of Simpson Marine by our Country Manager Tony Chen followed by the introduction of Ansett Aviation Asia. Since bringing a yacht to the centre of Taipei is not quite possible we presented MCY76 and OC48 yacht models and played various yacht videos to show the guests a wide range of models we can offer, from small sailing race boats to the best Italian superyachts. Nongsa Rendezvous 2016 Kicking off 2016, the Singapore team’s first event of the year was a trip up to Nongsa Point Marina, Batam, in February 2016. This year over 10 yachts joined us for this short but enjoyable weekend cruise Indonesia’s Nongsa island plays host to Singapore-based yacht owners for a weekend of fun with beach parties and water toys
and with over 40 guests taking part it was a fantastic event. The convoy included a Monte Carlo Yachts 65, a Beneteau Sense 55, a Beneteau Oceanis 50, a Lagoon 400S2 and more. The weather was perfect, with smooth waters heading up and a wonderful outdoor BBQ buffet waiting on arrival. Guests enjoyed spending the evening catching up with each other, with a live band performing into the night.
End of Year Party 2016 at Lazarus Island The end of a year is always an excuse to celebrate and getting into the festivities we were lucky enough to have day of sunshine as we set up for our BBQ cook out on the beach at Lazarus Island. The set up was perfect, with beach furniture and water toys, and the bay filled up with yachts ready to celebrate and make the most of the fine weather. All the guests lunched on a delicious BBQ with burgers and pot luck with participants bringing a signature dish each. It was a great afternoon well spent catching up on the happenings of 2016 and all things yachting.
Celebrating the final moments of the old year on the beach with fellow owners is what we call a brillant idea!

Supporting Disabled Sailing Thailand in Pattaya Together with Royal Phuket Marina, Simpson Marine is proud to support Disabled Sailing Thailand, an incredibly worthy cause that provides sailing access for disabled sailors. Initiatives will include the arrival to Thailand of the first two SV14 boats, a model that aims to be an accessible boat to all. Having the SV14’s in Thailand is a key part of the organisation’s goal to ensure Thailand’s presence on the international sailing scene and to empower sailors with disabilities. The very first SV14 was launched and sailed in Cape Town on 31 May 2017, which was a momentous occasion in the life of the SV14 projects. Mike Simpson has financed hull number 3 of the SV14’s to support this noble cause and help disabled sailors to access the joys of sailing. Here is a brief summary of our show calendar including major highlights.
A beautiful blue skied December weekend at Marina Cove, Hong Kong
Hong Kong International Boat Show On 2-4 December 2016 we exhibited at the Hong Kong International Boat Show in Marina Cove, Sai Kung. This lovely marina, in close proximity to Hong Kong’s most beautiful cruising grounds, was packed full with yachts over a beautiful and sunny weekend. Simpson Marine presented the best-selling Lagoon 450, a major point of interest for guests, a brand new Monte Carlo 6 and an Oceanis 55. The show finished on a positive note with the Lagoon 450 catamaran proving the biggest attention draw for visitors.

The Hainan Visun Rendezvous has built a reputation as China’s most important yachting and lifestyle show and Simpson Marine has been a longstanding exhibitor at this popular show. Held in December 2016 the 7th edition of the Hainan Rendezvous saw a large display from Beneteau and Simpson Marine with the MCY 70 and MCY 76 models and 10 other yachts from the Beneteau Group, including the Lagoon 620, Oceanis 55, MC6 and Barracuda 9, all on display. We were delighted that the yachting lifestyle is maintaining its growing appeal among Chinese buyers and to see that our clients are growing more adventurous and wanting to travel ever further afield with their boats. We were also very pleased that our Monte Carlo 4 stock boat found a new home after being sold at the show.

YACHTING PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMMES Own a yacht quickly and easily with Simpson Marine
One of Simpson Marine’s main goals is to help to make the process of yacht ownership simple and accessible, allowing owners to relax and begin enjoying their yacht as fast as possible. With this in mind, Simpson Marine has developed its brand new yachting partnership investment programmes to help potential owners achieve just that, whilst also enjoying a good return on their investment through charter income.
A long background in the charter market meant that it made perfect sense for Simpson Marine to establish a programme that would make investing in a charter yacht a financially appealing prospect for potential owners. The new Simpson Marine Charter Yacht Ownership Programme officially launched in 2017 at the Singapore Yacht Show. The Programme caters to those wanting to enjoy time on their yachts without any of the worries or time-consuming demands of daily yacht operations, while also allowing owners to capitalise on their purchase with charter bookings to ensure an attractive yearly Return On Investment (ROI). This exciting new initiative has benefitted from the recent appointment of Reanna Wang as Charter and Yacht Management Business Development Manager, with Wang based in Hong Kong where she is focussed on growing the size and reach of Simpson Marine’s already large and varied charter fleet.
“With Simpson Marine’s proven charter record and the growing popularity of Asia as a charter destination we are confident that yachts joining our programme will achieve over 20 weeks of charter a year in Phuket, ensuring a good return on investment for owners.” Reanna Wang

SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL Begin your boating adventure today with the perfect starter model For those considering purchasing a yacht a smaller yacht model can prove the perfect stepping stone into yacht ownership. As well as being an affordable starting point, with a lower purchase price and reduced running costs, a smaller model is ideal for allowing owners to get a feel for yachting and discover what suits them, while enjoying all the best parts of life at sea. A smaller yacht is also perfect for those looking for a more private yachting experience, without the need for large crews. A smaller size and draft will also usually mean that almost no destination is off limits, with much greater access to shallow coves and anchorages than is available to bigger yachts. Sportsfishing In Asia: The next big thing
When compared to many parts of the world such as the USA or Australia, sportsfishing in Hong Kong and most parts of Asia is still in its infancy, but there is little doubt that the sport has huge potential and its popularity in Asia is rapidly growing. The thrill of going into battle with a determined aquatic foe cannot be underestimated, with a huge sense of achievement on securing a hard-won catch. Sport fishing in Hong Kong has its roots in the early 1980’s when private boats, mostly owned by pilots, began fishing offshore with occasional but infrequent visits to Pratas reef. During this period the Mandarin Sport Fishing Club, which still exists to this day, was formed. The trend for sportsfishing continued through the 1990s, prior to the return of Hong Kong to the People’s Republic of China, after which there was little or no sport fishing activity from the mainland. The early 2000’s saw the beginning of trips from Hong Kong out to the closer oil rigs in the South China Sea. A decline in numbers of Western pilots in Hong Kong meant that most of these trips were made in converted fishing trawlers – a far throw from the custom-designed sportsfishers seen on the water today. With the popularity of sportsfishing as a pastime returning, this period saw the beginning of sportsfishing charter businesses in other areas of Asia, such as Phuket, but surprisingly, such operations did not develop in Hong Kong.
For enthusiastic fishermen, there is nothing better than a good catch!

Since day one, Viking has been a family owned and operated business. The shipyard only answers to itself, and to its yacht owners—there are no outside voices at the dinner table. The remarkable levels of care and craftsmanship shown in the boat building process are highly evident in the finished product, and this extends well beyond the shiny new boats I saw awaiting delivery. Vikings are built to last, which not only shows in the water but also carries over to their strong resale values. The shipyard in New Jersey is an easy drive from Philadelphia International Airport, and is also accessible from New York City by either car or helicopter. PART OF THE FAMILY Sailing holidays in Southeast Asia, and life onboard a Beneteau First 20 in Hong Kong
As long as I can remember I have dreamt of being able to explore Asia with my family. We wanted to let our children expand their senses with the experiences, colours and flavours of this exceptional continent. I believed that doing this by boat would be an even greater privilege. Our first destination on a boat as a family was Langkawi and the Butang Islands. Hopping from mangroves to white sandy beaches, our two young sons were able to experience life on board a yacht for the first time. We found that despite the limited space on board, the pace of sailing was very well suited to a young family. Simpson Marine, Sanlorenzo, Beneteau and Lagoon teams at Asia Boating Awards 2017, Singapore
AWARDS It has been a year of accolades with many brands represented by Simpson Marine being presented with several awards for key models as well as significant achievements in the nautical field. Here are some highlights. Widely considered to be the Oscars of the superyacht industry, the World Superyacht Awards (WSA) 2017 were hosted in Florence, Italy, where they honoured the best of the yachting world. At the WSA the Sanlorenzo 460EXP X received the prestigious award for Best Displacement Motoryacht Below 500GT (30m to 42.9m). Further success for Sanlorenzo’s Explorer line was seen at the Asia Boating Awards, held in April 2017 at the Singapore Yacht Show, when the 460EXP MOKA also received the award for Best Explorer Yacht. In addition to wins for these beautiful Sanlorenzo models, we are also proud to announce the success of Massimo Perotti, chairman of Sanlorenzo, who was recently appointed Knight of the Order of Merit for Labour by Sergio Mattarella, President of Italy. This high honour is awarded to those “who have been singularly meritorious” in various sectors including industry and commerce.

Sanlorenzo SL78 Just like her bigger sister – the SL86, introduced to market in 2015 – the new SL78 features huge windows on the main deck, bathing the main saloon in natural light and making the entire space seem even bigger than it already is. Two layout options are on offer: the first places the galley on the main deck, the other sees the galley on the lower deck adjacent to the crew quarters, which allows for an even larger entertaining and guest area on the main deck and also keeps the main deck entirely private for the Saloon

Sanlorenzo SD126 At 38 metres long, the Sanlorenzo SD126 is the flagship of the shipyard’s semi-displacement SD fleet. Constructed from composite, the fourdeck motor yacht shares many similarities with its sisters but stands out thanks to a few noteworthy updates. These include a new bow seating lounge, a larger flybridge, huge windows and a bigger swim platform. The SD126 accommodates 10 guests in a generous five-stateroom layout with a main-deck master, mirror VIP cabins and two twin staterooms. The interior can be customised to meet the owner’s exacting brief, making use of a wide range of beautiful materials including marbles, stainless steel, stitched leathers or any eye-catching details the owner might desire.

Sanlorenzo 460EXP
Sanlorenzo’s first ever explorer yacht, the 460EXP is a displacement-hull yacht with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. The 460EXP blends the comfort, luxury and sleek exterior styling that Sanlorenzo is renowned for and puts it in an expedition package, offering even more space, safety and self-reliance for long-range cruising. Superyacht amenities still abound, with pools, a gym, sauna and Turkish hammam all options chosen by the owner of the first 460EXP. The 460EXP has earned the Green Plus certification from RINA, meaning she is eco-friendly as well and was twice awarded by Boat International’s World Superyacht Awards for Best Explorer Yacht. OUR ALL TIME FAVOURITES
Monte Carlo Yachts 80 At 80 feet, the MCY 80 is the perfect size for owners looking to step into the superyacht sphere. She sports features that are signature to the MCY brand, such as an enormous lounge foredeck, Portuguese bridge and a flybridge designed for entertaining. Particularly notable for a yacht of her size, the flybridge can be outfitted with a Jacuzzi, large bar area and sunbathing area. The interior is well lit, with brushed and bleach oak floorings making the saloon feel large and light and giving a sense Saloon
of elegance.
Monte Carlo Yachts 105 The multi-awarded flagship of the Monte Carlo Yachts range, the MCY 105 debuted to rave reviews. The MCY 105 has a bar, living area and dining area on the main deck, with terraces opening off either side of the dining room in the saloon. This deck is the perfect place for parties, elegant dinners or simply relaxing with the family. Built with a resin-infusion modular construction process, the MCY 105 is lighter than similarly sized superyachts, helping her achieve top speeds of 27 knots while still providing a safe and comfortable ride. The unique manufacturing process used allows for a short build time of just five Cockpit with Jacuzzi below the sunpads
months, a feat almost unheard of for such a big vessel.
Monte Carlo 5
At 50 feet long, the Monte Carlo 5 is an ideally sized motor yacht for day trips or shorter overnight adventures. Decked out with a luxury interior she is designed for comfortable cruising. With three staterooms – a full-beam master, VIP forward and twin bunks to starboard – she is perfectly suited for cruising with the whole family. The layout also includes aft accommodation for one crew member. The master cabin is particularly impressive, with large round windows and a refined interior design that give the feel of a cabin on board a much larger yacht.
Saloon
Monte Carlo 6
The flagship MC 6 combines all the favourite features of its sisters and delivers these in a larger package, coming in just under 60 feet long. Most impressive is the extended flybridge with a wide electric sun roof and generous interior living spaces, which takes this yacht up a level and makes the link between the MC6 and its larger Monte Carlo Yachts models immediately obvious. The interior boasts two layout options for the main deck – the European-focused design option sees the galley paired with a convertible dining and coffee table on the main deck, while the Asiafocused option has the galley down a deck for greater guest privacy, with a bar and larger dining table on the main deck instead.

OUR ALL TIME FAVOURITES
Oceanis 45 The Oceanis 45 is the best-seller in Beneteau’s sailing range, offering more space and comfort than other boats in its class and designed to suit cruising as well as longer offshore journeys. A redesigned hull with full length bilges not only allows greater interior space but also ensures enhanced stability and performance in a moderate heel. A mainsail arch allows for quick deployment of a bimini top, adding further to comfort and safety levels, together with an aft bathing platform that opens using a remote control.
Oceanis Yacht 62 The new flagship of the Oceanis range, the Oceanis Yacht 62 is a collaboration between Berret Racoupeau Yacht Design, the Italian stylist Pierrangelo Andreani and French builder Beneteau. The Oceanis Yacht 62 was inspired by a horizontal line form, which is carried forward throughout its exterior lines. The design team took inspiration from elements of bigger superyacht designs to create this yacht with notable features including the hydraulically operated transom which folds down to create a wide swim platform and reveal the tender garage.
First 20
The Beneteau First 20 has pure stylish lines atop a high-performing and stable hull by Finot-Conq, ensuring safe and comfortable cruising. Primed to take on competitors on the race circuit, the First 20 has a square-top main sail that is designed for racing and a generous sail plan with code 0, asymmetrical and spinnaker sail options. Keen yachtsmen will enjoy the twin rudder helm. The First 20 is extremely flexible and has a 1.8-metre lifting keel and outboard engine, so it can be easily beached and towed on a trailer.
Sense 51
Beneteau’s Sense 51 is a new model based on the success of its predecessor, the Sense 50. This beautifully designed sailboat has a reduced heel angle that does not compromise on its great performance. Designed to sail close to the water, while offering excellent comfort and safety while underway, well-being and simplicity are the watchwords for all seas and weathers, making long cruises enjoyable.

OUR ALL TIME FAVOURITES The streamlined and sporty Gran Turismo 46 is ideal for cruising the open seas in style, safety and comfort and offers the perfect combination between open design and protection from the elements. The hardtop can be opened and the side windows electrically operated to slide down to open the space and enjoy the sea breezes or the stars overhead at night. But if it’s shade and air-conditioned comfort you’re after when cruising in warmer destinations this model also has you covered as the windows and glass door are easily closed to shield the cockpit from the elements. The GT 46 offers

The Barracuda 8 is a highly seaworthy sport fishing boat, thanks to the latest generation of Airstep® hull, that is also very spacious and welcoming. Both a fisher and an adventurer, her Scandinavian spirit makes her perfect for any kind of break. With attractive lines and a sturdy reliable profile, the Barracuda 8 has all the qualities of a fisherman’s best friend. Her large starboard walkway makes it easy to move about the boat.
Barracuda 8
CNB 76 At 23.17 metres, the CNB 76 is the perfect size for longer voyages and has a safe and seaworthy hull, optimised for sailing in even heavy seas. She can also be easily handled by a small crew thanks to her simple deck layout. The CNB 76 can be highly customised, including the choice of mast to suit the owner’s need for either cruising or high-performance. The exterior is by famed designer Philippe Briand, who has created a graceful silhouette, while the interior design is by Jean Marc Piaton, who has created an interior that is both stylish, airy and comfortable.

Lagoon 450 Designed by French design house VPLP, with interiors by the famed Italian Nauta Design studio, the Lagoon 450 is the most popular catamaran model in the world. The new and improved 450 has larger accommodation and deck areas as well as better performance and is available in two versions, either the FlyBridge or SportTop. Nauta Design has created an interior that is both elegant and functional. The owner’s cabin in the three-cabin version is luxurious and spacious, with the entire starboard hull dedicated to the owner including a lounge area in the middle of the hull and sizable bathroom forward. The fourbedroom layout has comfortable staterooms, each with their own en suite bathroom.

contemporary styled hulls, levitated hardtop and a taller rig moved aft the Lagoon 52 stands out from the crowd. The yacht offers many entertainment and lounging areas including a vast flybridge, a cosy forward cockpit and a spacious aft cockpit. All ropes and controls are located on the flybridge, away from the living areas, ensuring a good division of spaces. A tilting steering wheel, which can be adjusted to three different positions, affords the skipper perfect visibility under sail or when manoeuvring, making her extremely easy to handle.
Lagoon 620 The new Essense version of the Lagoon 620 benefits from an interior that has been re-designed by Italy’s Nauta Design to make this catamaran even more luxurious and flexible than ever before. Nauta completely redesigned the settees in the dining room and there are multiple layout options with four, five or six cabins, so up to 14 guests can be accommodated in unmatched comfort. The exterior spaces are equally impressive and appeal to large groups, with a huge flybridge and dual steering wheels and spacious cockpit, both of which are shaded. There is also a seating area set forward of the helm on the flybridge. This Lagoon 620 catamaran is your private floating island!
Lagoon 630 MY The Lagoon 630 MY combines the capabilities of an offshore cruiser with the luxury of a motor yacht. The interior, designed by Italy’s Nauta Design, is afforded plentiful space to spread out in thanks to the wide body of the catamaran design. The interior is modelled after luxurious superyacht interiors, with a large saloon decorated in thick carpets, deep couches and beautiful materials. There are five different layout options, offering four or five cabins with different bedroom and galley positions providing a wealth of choices for owners.
Lagoon Seventy 7 Lagoon’s beautiful sailing flagship is finished to an incredibly high standard, in line with the worldwide prestige of her builder CNB. The yacht has already sold an incredible 18 units in the two weeks following her worldwide premiere and has quickly become one of the hottest new models on the yachting market.
