SIMARJOT

SIMARJOT KAUR

I have always had an artistic bend of mind, and growing up, I was unusually enthusiastic about drafting, planning, and designing buildings. My grandfather was an architect, and my influence for choosing Interior design as a professional path. Studying at a convent school taught me values like discipline, while basketball taught me some fundamental life skills like leadership, teamwork, and unity. While in college, I have been associated with the International Centre at NAIT, operating as a greeter to help ease the transition of newcomer students to Canada. I also write for the Nugget newspaper at NAIT. In my spare time, I like to write poems, sketch, read books, or doing photography. I endeavor to have a healthy lifestyle, so I go to the gym about twice per week.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Most of my photography is in black and white because I believe that monochrome focuses more on the character of the space, whereas colors divert from the subject in a photograph.

JAMES OFFICE

Theme Inspiration Board

The design intention for this project was to create an organic, contemporary interior atmosphere. It was aimed to furnish the area with a modern aesthetic using natural elements and materials.

The materials used in this rendering are all a representation of the actual materials that would go into space, and the furniture has been endeavored to imitate the original equipment.

Rendered Floor Plan

The main focus of this design project was to design an open concept, collaborative space catering to the needs of the employees working in the office. The contentment of the end-user is a measure of the success of the design.

The QR Code is a 360 render for the lobby space to provide a more interactive way for presneting the design to the end-user.

When your people succeed, so does your business.

The aim was to design of this public space with accessibility and versatility as the main features. The materials chosen for the project were aimed to provide easy cleaning and still present interest in the space. 5

COMMUNITY CENTRE

Reflected Ceiling Plan

The Reflected Ceiling Plan for the community centre was devised to accentuate the design intent. The

main design elements used in this project were linear components with natural materials and warm tones. 7

Reception desk elevation

Designing is not just about how it looks like, but also about Reception desk section The Reception desk was presented during the design stages as a rendered sketch to show the finishes and materials and then drawn with all the build specifications for the construction documentation

how it feels like.

RESTAURANT

Reflected Ceiling Plan

Sections

The design intent was mainly potrayed in with the ceiling and lighting features for this project. The main design style i chose for this project was a modern mix of the retro vintage style. Most ceiling and flooring would be black and white. 9

Logo Wall

The checkered tile gives it a retro appearance at first impression, whereas the sleek contemporary furniture blends it with portions of modernism to generate a unique fusion of design styles in the restaurant.

Life is like a restaurant; you can have anything you want Bar

as long as you are willing to pay the price.

AMBULATORY CLINIC

Attendant Station

Waiting Area The ambulatory clinic was a group design work. The theme for the clinic was robust, organic style. The various parts of the clinic were split amongst the group for hand rendering, and I did the renders for the attendant station and the waiting area.

KIOSK

Wireline model

The Kiosk project was a collaborative project to plan a kiosk located in a lively mall. The brand logo hypothetically assigned to our group, had very organic and earthy elements. I did the Revit modeling for the 3-dimensional representation of the design.

SPACE PLANNING: OFFICE RECON

Workstations plan

Furniture plan

The purpose of the space planning project was furniture reconfiguration of an office space to make the area more collaborative and give the

employees more gathering spaces for teamwork. We had to incorporate the equivalent amount of seating with collaborative furniture con

figurations as with cubicles, while considering the code provisions and flow in the space.

Final Furniture Plan The final optimal furniture plan considers circulation, cognitive, and social ergonomics. It has the same occupancy load as the plan with cubicles. The furniture configuration considers proximity and the privacy of the users. This plan was chosen as a finalist for a scholarship project.

Collaboration divides the task and multiples the success.

RESIDENTIAL

Floor Plan

Interior Elevation

The plan for this residence was given to us, and we had to make the construction documents based on the provided information. The development papers covered elevations, sections, and details explaining the installation and conjunction of the parts and bits.

Cabinet Section

Bathtub Section

The details are not just the details, they make the design.
