My names Tom Manise and I’m the Director of Rugby for Silhillians Rufc. I’ve been a member of this club for 30 years having played Mini & Juniors through to seniors and now coaching. My current position of DoR is a real privelage and something I don’t take lightly.
To be involved in steering the club along its new journey with all the sections and watching their enjoyment in the sport I love is truly an honour!
Hi I’m Rod, head coach at SRUFC. I joined the Sils to get involved in local community Rugby. I have really enjoyed being part of the recent success of the club and watching the players improve from level 7 to where there are now.
Hi my name is Maximus Manise and I am the Assistant Coach to my dad Tom manise. It is a huge pleasure to be around the older lads at Sils and to be watching them play. I love doing my job at the club because I get to meet loads of people who I usually wouldn’t meet.
I’m Rhi, 27 years old and very short for my age. I started my role with the senior men’s team at Sils in early 2022 as a glorified water girl, but managed to bag the pitch-side first aid position. This includes pre-game taping, treating many various injuries, providing half time snacks and ensuring everyone has their boots… I’ve also been working on a Sports Massage Therapy course to aid me in my role, and most importantly support the lads in keeping themselves fighting fit and ready for the next game.
Not sure I can put into words what it’s meant to be involved with the club without sounding too soppy, but for someone who never had a ‘team’/wasn’t ever really involved in anything like Sils before it’s been, and continues to be, an incredible opportunity!
Seeing all of the hard work, personal time and effort that goes into SRUFC from senior coaching staff all the way to M&Js is so motivating, and there are so many extraordinary characters I have had the pleasure to get to know. To be part of this huge family is something I will always be so grateful for, the values in RISE massively resonated with me and the love we all have for each other is second to none.
Hi- I’m Ben and my role with the 1st XV is Team Assistant. This involves generally being a spare pair of hands to go and grab stuff or help set up for the coaches in training sessions, and your standard water/ ball boy stuff on match days. This season I am also in charge of the scoreboard at home games and keeping all the match stats.
It means a great deal to me to be able to be involved with such an experienced group of players and coaches. I’ve learnt a lot from being involved with the team, and really enjoy the stuff that I’m doing with the club.
Francesca Pattinson
Hey everyone I’m Frankie. Having grown up at the Sils since my first visit at just five days old, it was about time I got involved in the club properly and played my part in showcasing the best amateur rugby in Solihull and the place my family have called home for so many years!
As part of the hospitality team, President Emma Smith, Faye and I are ensuring we go the extra mile to provide the best experience for all involved in game days at Copt Heath - from our players, to the visiting teams and referees. We want your trip to our club to be the best place you’ll visit this season. I have also been throughly enjoying bringing my stage and theatre background into the rugby world and using those skills to present ‘Sils TV’ this year, capturing the thoughts of the players, coaches and supporters during and post game. If you haven’t already, check out ‘Sils TV’ and enjoy!
More than anything, I hope to continue my dad, Guy Pattinson’s legacy at the Sils where he spent so many happy years, as a valued member of the committee and fixture secretary. He loved this club and was always positive we could achieve every success - I hope that I am making him proud in doing what I can to continue this journey!
Hi I’m Faye, part of the hospitality team at Sils. Having spent majority of my childhood coming here to watch various football or rugby games and then working behind the bar in the clubhouse, it was an honour to have the opportunity to to take on this role in the hospitality team for this 24/25 season following our huge success of winning the league.
Along side club president Emma and Frankie, I am responsible for ensuring opposing teams, referees and spectators experience a super Sils Saturday for each home game. Personally I love this club from the rugby, to the social side and feel privileged to be a part of the journey with a club that’s at the top of its game in an exciting new league! Here’s to another fantastic season UTS!
Hasan Khandoker
Hello, my name is Hasan and I’m the social media and marketing manager. I’ve been in this role for the past 4 years. Having been at the club in the M and J set up and coached by the likes of Nigel Saunders and Steve Marks, it was apparent how special a club the Sils was.
I’m a firm believer that despite the lack of resources and manpower we can compete and put ourselves up there with Premiership and Championship clubs when it comes to social presence. Plenty of time spent filming from the sidelines as well as further hours editing behind a computer screen seem to have paid dividends, as we are now being noticed by multiple high flying teams in the rugby community.
Whilst we still have the rest of the season to go, I have learnt so much from doing this job and have been honoured to share the stories of our great club men and women, past and present, and would like to say a massive thank you to Lee ‘Window’ Jones for trusting me in telling the Sils’ story. PS. If you haven’t already done so make sure you’re following us on social media!
Maddock
Hi, I’m Sam – I’m part of the media team here at Sils. I help with the filming and editing of training sessions and matchdays for social media, as well as writing the match reports for the first team, Saxons and Sirens.
Joining the Sils has been fantastic. I’ve developed so many new skills, from the camera to the laptop, and I’m learning more all the time. It’s a real privilege being a part of this club as they take on new challenges this season. The opportunity to travel round the Midlands and film at some amazing grounds, all while trying to grow the Sils’ online presence, is something really special. By filming and producing content to document the highs and lows of a new league, I hope to create videos the players can look back fondly on in the future. The Sils is also a great place to meet people and make new friends.
