S by Salanitro - where the ‘S’ stands for ‘Sparkled’ –presents The Backgammon, a customisable game board made from wood and leather and finished in precious stones.

S by Salanitro specialises in designing and producing luxurious objet d’art pieces with an exceptional savoir-faire in precious stone settings. Pierre Salanitro founded S by Salanitro in 2020 as a sub-brand of his Geneva-based Salanitro watch manufacturing company.

Founded in 1990 as a stone-setting specialist company for the Swiss watch industry, Salanitro has grown to offer a broad range of services, from design to serial or customised watch manufacturing. Managing a group of over 200 specialists in its state-of-the-art workshop is the company’s founder Pierre Salanitro, who started his career as a gem-setter for some of Switzerland’s biggest watch brands.

S by Salanitro currently offers three customisable objet d’art pieces: The Mask, The Mirror and the subject of our story, The Backgammon, all manufactured with an Haute Couture spirit.

The Backgammon board is made from select Swiss wood species and covered in premium leather. The wood and leather are patinaed to offer the best quality of play. Of the 30 checkers, 15 are in vibrant blue and 15 in anthracite, matching the colours of the leather. Two dice accompanying the board are also made of noble materials, as is the third, larger, 6-sided die called the doubling cube.

The brand’s signature is in the details. The checkers are set with black diamonds or blue sapphires along their periphery, as are the 24 points (the wedges) on the board. The dice cup, entirely finished in anthracite leather, bears the S by Salanitro logo. The doubling cube is set with 137 black diamonds that make up the number on each side.

S by Salanitro plans to introduce 10 new backgammon sets per year. Naturally, the brand’s bespoke service will be available to the discerning client. S by Salanitro’s Backgammon is an exceptional gift object or an heirloom that can be passed down to future generations.
