Our Pacific Collection 107m2 – 216m2 range of plans features 41 options, from a compact two-bedroom home to a large fourbedroom family home. We have plenty of choices to suit your lifestyle and budget.

Once you've selected a Pacific plan, it's over to you to decide how you want to bring it to life. You'll be in control of interior and exterior colours, and have the choice of a hip, gable or mono roofline.

On top of aesthetics, it’s good to consider how a roof enhances your home’s living conditions. Significant attention is given to the roof shape and structure throughout the entire Signature Homes design process to ensure the roof not only looks the part but protects the complete arrangement inside of the home.

Gable roof

Our Pacific Range of plans showcases three different roof types for each plan, a hip, gable and mono roof.

For those wanting to maximise living space, a gable roof is an ideal choice for creating more storage space in your home, such as an attic space. Increased ventilation is an additional benefit that a gable roof offers, allowing more airflow within your home.

Mono roof

A hip roof is a type of roof that has a downward slope on all sides. You'll notice how hip roofs have overhangs on all four sides, a design that essentially acts as a shell to protect the home from the outer elements. Those building on exposed sites that attract high winds tend to opt for a hip roof. A hip roof holds an advantage over other designs. It is superior in directing water out and away from the home's foundation entirely, making it one of the most effective options for water drainage. While gutter systems serve as runoff guides on all roof types, the hip roof alone ensures that water and debris are channelled to the gutter system because of the depth of its slope. A hip roof structure and shape are unique and provide homeowners with an array of flexible designs. Considering a hip roof style should be at the top of your list when constructing a new roof. 8

Recognised for their triangular shape, a gable roof is one of the most popular roofing designs based on its simple shape and model. Architects enjoy working with a gable roof as the angle can easily be adapted to suit the design of the house. A gable roof can be more cost-efficient as it is easy to install, bringing labour costs down. The construction of the roofing material is straightforward, where it is generally made out of lightweight steel or wood frame, making it slightly cheaper than other types of roofs.

A mono-pitch roof is a simple yet highly effective design that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but cost effective too. It’s design is made up of a single surface, which slants in the one direction and tends to be detached from any other potential roof surface. The design also allows for the ability to extend back, removing the need of an internal gutter in the process. If you’re building a smaller home then a monopitched roof can help to create an illusion of more space, helping to create a feeling of higher ceilings. Another benefit is the ability to bring more natural light as the shape of a mono-pitch roof allows space to add in clerestory windows (windows above eye level).

Hip/Gable Throughout this book, you’ll notice a number of our plans feature both a hip and gable end roof. A house with a hip and gable roof combination, provides more flexibility, allowing a designer to work more freely to design a home that is 100% in tune with your lifestyle and budget. It also creates a more striking and distinguished look, utilising the full footprint of the home.
