Pompeii is a live-cinema experience that explores the archaeology of intimacy. Toggling between the artifice of a live soundstage and the meditative expanse of slow cinema, the work questions the ways in which we navigate the real and artificial versions of ourselves and if the objects and spaces that we leave behind in death betray our true nature.
Through this educational kit, students will reflect on the meaning of things and items people leave behind, and what these items say about the lives they lived. Students will also have the chance to explore deeper into live cinema theatre and how to it comes together in a performance. Designed for further engagement and discussion with the SIFA programme, this educational kit is divided into four sections and comes with guiding questions, suggested activities and links for further exploration on the subject and themes presented in the show.
