3 Wishes

An old woman was rocking away the last of her days on her front porch and reflecting on her long life, when, all of a sudden, a fairy godmother appeared and informed her that she would be granted 3 wishes! “Well, now,” said the old lady, “I’ve always wanted to be rich!” *POOF* Her rocking chair turned to solid gold. “And, gee, I guess I wouldn’t mind being a young, beautiful princess.” *POOF* She turned into a beautiful young woman. “And your third wish?” asked the fairy godmother. Just then the old woman’s cat wandered across the porch. “Ooooh! Can you turn him into a handsome prince?” She asked. *POOF* There stood a young man, more handsome then anyone could possibly imagine. She stared at him, smitten. With a smile that made her knees weak, he sauntered across the porch and leaned over close to her. Then he whispered in her ear, “Bet you’re sorry you had me neutered, aren’t you?” TIMBERLINE ENTERPRISES BACKHOE AND BOBCAT Services – Excavating, grading, trenching, surfacing, house pads, sewer, pipes, drainage, septic tank installation, erosion control, and more. I Am NOT Hard of Hearing!

I am not hard of hearing but, sometimes… well, sometimes the words I hear just don’t seem to register quite right. A group of us were enjoying coffee together and one of the ladies was excitedly sharing the fact she was getting a new microwave oven. But she didn’t say she was going to “buy” or “purchase” one – she used the word “acquire” – she was going to acquire a microwave oven. The conversation wasn’t making a lick of sense to me and I blurted out, “What in the world are you talking about?!” Startled, and puzzled, she wondered what the problem was. I explained, “I’ve got this vision of a choir loft full of microwave ovens with the doors opening and closing, the lights going on and off, and the buzzers buzzing…” BURL AND DRIFTWOOD ART, 100% NATURAL, 13 pieces, largest 22”x8”x9” high $45 (775)782-8072 BRIDGESTONE TIRES, TUBELESS RADIAL P285/45R22(110T), used only 3 months and sold Tahoe and can’t use on my new car, $600 (775)782-6002 GREG’S SMALL ENGINE SERVICE AND REPAIR! In the early morning of Dec. 7, 1941, the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, was attacked by the Japanese military. At the time, Japan’s military leaders thought the attack would neutralize American forces, allowing Japan to dominate the Asia Pacific region. Instead, the deadly strike drew the U.S. into World War II, making it a truly global conflict. Learn more about the Pearl Harbor attack with these facts related to this memorable day in history. What Is Pearl Harbor? Pearl Harbor is a natural deepwater naval port on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, located just west of Honolulu. At the time of the attack, Hawaii was an American territory, and the military base at Pearl Harbor was home to the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Fleet. U.S. - Japan Relations - Japan had embarked on an aggressive campaign of military expansion in Asia, beginning with its invasion of Manchuria (modern-day Korea) in 1931. As the decade progressed, the Japanese military pushed into China and French Indochina (Vietnam) and rapidly built up its armed forces. By the summer of 1941, the U.S. had cut off most trade with Japan to protest that nation’s belligerence, and diplomatic relations between the two nations were very tense. Negotiations that November between the U.S. and Japan went nowhere. Lead-Up to the Attack - The Japanese military had begun laying plans to attack Pearl Harbor as early as January 1941. Although it was Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto who initiated the plans for the attack on Pearl Harbor, Commander Minoru Genda was the plan’s chief architect. The Japanese used the code name “Operation Hawaii” for the attack. This later changed to “Operation Z.” Six aircraft carriers left Japan for Hawaii on Nov. 26, carrying a total of 408 fighter craft, joining five midget submarines that had departed a day earlier. Japan’s military planners specifically chose to attack on a Sunday because they believed Americans would be more relaxed and thus less alert on a weekend. In the hours before the attack, the Japanese attack force stationed itself approximately 230 miles north of Oahu. The Japanese Strike - At 7:55am on Sunday, Dec. 7, the first wave of Japanese fighter planes struck; the second wave of attackers would come 45 minutes later. In a little under two hours, 2,335 U.S. servicemen were killed and 1,143 were wounded. Sixty-eight civilians were also killed and 35 were wounded. The Japanese lost 65 men, with an additional soldier being captured. The Japanese had two major objectives: Sink America’s aircraft carriers and destroy its fleet of fighter planes. By chance, all three U.S. aircraft carriers were out to sea. Instead, the Japanese focused on the Navy’s eight battleships at Pearl Harbor, all of which were named after American states: Arizona, California, Maryland, Nevada, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Japan also targeted nearby Army airfields at Hickam Field, Wheeler Field, Bellows Field, Ewa Field, Schoefield Barracks, and Kaneohe Naval Air Station. Many of the U.S. airplanes were lined up outside, along

with the airstrips, wingtip to wingtip, in order to avoid sabotage. Unfortunately, that made them easy targets for the Japanese attackers. Caught unaware, U.S. troops and commanders scrambled to get planes in the air and ships out of the harbor, but they were able to muster only a feeble defense, largely from the ground. The Aftermath - All eight U.S. battleships were either sunk or damaged during the attack. Amazingly, all but two (the Arizona and the Oklahoma) were eventually able to return to active duty. The Arizona exploded when a bomb

breached its forward magazine (the ammunition room). Approximately 1,100 U.S. servicemen died on board. After being torpedoed, the Oklahoma listed so badly that it turned upside down. During the attack, the Nevada left its berth in Battleship Row and tried to make it to the harbor entrance. After being repeatedly attacked on its way, the Nevada beached itself. To aid their airplanes, the Japanese sent in five midget subs to help target the battleships. The Americans sunk four of the midget subs and captured the fifth. In all, nearly 20 American naval vessels and about 300 aircraft

were damaged or destroyed in the attack. The U.S. Declares War - The day following the attack on Pearl Harbor, U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed a joint session of Congress, seeking a declaration of war against Japan. In what would become one of his most memorable speeches, Roosevelt declared that Dec. 7, 1941, would be “a date that will live in infamy.” Only one legislator, Rep. Jeanette Rankin of Montana, voted against the declaration of war. On Dec. 8, Japan officially declared war against the U.S., and three days later, Germany followed suit. World War II had begun. Nicknames: If Gloria, Suzanne, Debra and Michelle go out for lunch, they will call each other Gloria, Suzanne, Debra and Michelle. But if Mike, Phil, Rob and Jack go out for a brewsky, they will affectionately refer to each other as Fat Boy, Godzilla, Peanut-Head and Useless. Eating OUT: And when the check comes, Mike, Phil, Rob and Jack will each throw in $20 bills, even though it’s only for $22.50. None of them will have anything smaller, and none will actually admit they want change back. When the girls get their check, out come the pocket calculators. Bathrooms: A man has six items in his bathroom-a toothbrush, shaving cream, razor, a bar of Dial soap, and a towel from the Holiday Inn. The average number of items in the typical woman’s bathroom is 437. A man would not be able to identify most of these items. Groceries: A woman makes a list of things she needs and then goes out to the store and buys these things. A man waits till the only items left in his fridge are half a lime and a soda. Then he goes grocery shopping. He buys everything that looks good. By the time a man reaches the checkout counter, his cart is packed tighter than the Clampett’s car on Beverly Hillbillies. Of course, this will not stop him from going to the 10-items-or-less lane. Shoes: When preparing for work, a woman will put on a Mondi wool suit, then slip on Reebok sneakers. She will carry her dress shoes in a plastic bag from Saks. When a woman gets to work, she will put on her dress shoes. Five minutes later, she will kick them off because her feet are under the desk. A man will wear the same pair of shoes all day. Cats: Women love cats. Men say they love cats, but when women aren’t looking, men kick cats. Dressing Up: A woman will dress up to: go shopping, water the plants, empty the garbage, answer the phone, read a book, get the mail. A man will dress up for: weddings and funerals. Laundry: Women do laundry every couple of days. A man will wear every article of clothing he owns, including his surgical pants that were hip about eight years ago, before he will do his laundry. When he is finally out of clothes, he will wear a dirty sweatshirt inside out, rent a U-Haul and take his mountain of clothes to the Laundromat. Men always expect to meet beautiful women at the Laundromat. This is a myth perpetuated by re-runs of old episodes of “Love, American Style.” Offspring: Ah, children. A woman knows all about her children. She knows about dentist appointments and soccer games and romances and best friends and favorite foods and secret fears and hopes and dreams. A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house. “The Paper With A Hometown Flavor” The Sin

Two elderly excited Southern women were sitting together in the front pew of a church listening to a fiery preacher. When this preacher condemned the sin of stealing, these two ladies cried out at the tops of their lungs, “AMEN, BROTHER!” When the preacher condemned the sin of lust, they yelled again, “PREACH IT, REVEREND!” And when the preacher condemned the sin of lying, they jumped to their feet and screamed, “RIGHT ON, BROTHER! TELL IT LIKE IT IS... AMEN!” But when the preacher condemned the sin of gossip, the two got very quiet. One turned to the other and said, “He’s quit preaching and now he’s meddlin’.” HARRY’S HAULING; PIANOS, SPAS, SAFES OR anything else, serving the Carson Valley communities (775)291-6648 MADAME ALEXANDER FIRST LADY DOLL COLLECTION, Series II, 6 dolls still in boxes $150; Stamp Collection, 1,000’s of stamps, old ones too $175, Dayton (712)249-3015 FIREWOOD, SEASONED, SPLIT, ALMOND ONLY $420 a cord, cut to size, under 16”, 16”-18”, 18”-22”, delivery available, Jon (775)246-7186

No Worries

Fresh out of business school, the young man answered a want ad for an accountant. Now, he was being interviewed by a very nervous man who ran a small business that he had started himself. “I need someone with an accounting degree,” the man said. “But mainly, I’m looking for someone to do my worrying for me.” “Excuse me?” the accountant said. “I worry about a lot of things,” the man said. “But I don’t want to have to worry about money. Your job will be to take all the money worries off my back.” “I see,” the accountant said. “And how much does the job pay?” “I’ll start you at eighty thousand.” “Eighty thousand dollars!” the accountant exclaimed. “How can such a small business afford a sum like that?” “That,” the owner said, “is your first worry.”

A judge grew tired of seeing the same town drunk in front of his bench. I’m about to tell you the truth: parenting has become very precious in our generation. This very morning, a mom posted how on her son’s birthday, she assembles a comprehensive “time capsule” including items, photos, and products related to that particular year, stores it in a set of antique trunks, and plans to present them all to him on his 18th birthday as a tribute to his entire life. Holy. Crud. Cannot. Deal. When I think about upping the joy in parenting and diminishing the stress, I propose that much of our anxiety stems from this notion that our kids’ childhood must be Utterly Magical; a beautifully documented fairytale in which they reside as center of the universe, their success is manufactured (or guaranteed), and we over-attend to every detail of their lives until we send them off to college after writing their entrance essays. It becomes this fake pressure, which results in its trusty sidekick: guilt. And nothing steals joy away from parenting more than believing you are doing a terrible job at it. And nothing confirms you are doing a terrible job at it than thinking you should run out and backfill eight antique trunks as a memorial to your third-grader’s life. So here is my trick for keeping the joy and losing the stress: What would my mom do? I was born in 1974, good readers. It no more occurred to my mom to coddle us Precious Snowflakes than it did to quit drinking a case of Tab a day. If you told my mom to craft a yearly time capsule for each child to store until graduation, she would have cried tears of laughter all the way to Jazzercise. My girlfriend asked me just yesterday: “Do you remember your mom ever volunteering in your classroom?” “NO mom was never in our classroom. We rode the bus to school on the first day, had one Christmas party that consisted of store-bought cookies and cherry Kool-Aid, then school ended and we played outside until Labor Day. That was the school year.” My mom says that she and her friends just raised us, while my friends and me “parent” (these are sarcastic finger quotes). And honestly? She’s right. They didn’t worry endlessly, interfere constantly, safeguard needlessly, or overprotect religiously. They just raised us. And we turned out fine. Confession: As we head toward summer, I get this itchy, panicked feeling, because we are staring down twelve unstructured weeks, and all I can picture are my five kids sleeping too late, losing brain cells on their various screens which I will feel conflicted and guilty about, and driving me crazy. How will I balance work? How will I keep them entertained? How will I occupy fourteen hours a day? How will I maintain their reading levels? I already feel like a Bad Summer Mom and it is March, for goodness sake, which tells me I need to default to my trick: What would my mom do? Well, first of all, we didn’t have 24/7 access to cartoons,

Visit us at www.SierraScoop.com video games, and YouTube, so she did what all moms did: told us to play. The end. It never crossed my mom’s mind to “entertain us” or “fund expensive summer endeavors” or “create stimulating activities for our brain development.” She said get the heck outside, and we did. We made up games and rode our bikes and choreographed dance routines, had performances in the garage and drank out of the hose when we got thirsty. I swear, my mom did not know where we actually were half the time. Turned out in the neighborhood all day, someone’s mom would eventually make us bologna sandwiches on white bread and then lock us out, too. We were like a roving pack of wolves, and all the moms took turn feeding and watering us. No one hovered over us like

Nervous Nellies. And never one time, not once did I feel unloved or neglected. My parents majored on the majors and minored on the minors. Could it be that we are simply too precious about parenting? Have we forgotten the benefit of letting our kids fail? Figure it out? Work hard for it? Entertain themselves? We put so much undue pressure on ourselves to curate Magical Childhoods, when in fact, kids are quite capable of being happy kids without constant adult administration. I would argue that making them the center of the universe is actually terribly detrimental. A good parent prepares the child for the path, not the path for the child. We can still demonstrate ... “The Paper With A Hometown Flavor” bled and skinned our knees and made up our own fun and enjoyed the simple pleasures of childhood without any flash and dazzle. But you know what? We knew we were loved and we knew we were safe. We never doubted the most important parts of the story. We weren’t fragile hothouse plants but dirty, rowdy, resilient kids who ate Twinkies and candy cigarettes and lived to tell. Mama, don’t fall for the yearly time capsules. You have everything your little ones need: kisses, Shel Silverstein books, silly songs, kitchen dance parties, a backyard, family dinner around the table, and a cozy lap. They’ll fill in the rest of the gaps and be better for it. Your kids don’t need to be entertained and they don’t need to be bubble-wrapped; they just need to be loved. It’s all any kid has ever really needed. December 12th- Hanukkah Begins gentle and attached parenting without raising children who melt on a warm day. Guess what the side effect is for us parents? RELIEF. Get your joy back! Try it. Pull back as Cruise Director and adopt the “what would my mom do” approach, and see what happens. What do you know? The kids are all right! They aren’t poor, neglected Oliver Twists. They won’t come completely unraveled. They aren’t helpless, hapless ninnies who can’t figure a bloomin’ thing out. Their futures aren’t doomed. We don’t want to produce young adults that despair at the first obstacle they face. Don’t we want them to learn that they are one part of a healthy family, not the centrifugal force of their entire environment? And mamas and daddies? We get to jettison that manufactured guilt that tells us we aren’t doing enough, when in fact, no generation of parents has ever done more. (My friends in higher education are actually begging us to DO LESS PLEASE BECAUSE THESE CHILDREN DON’T KNOW HOW TO FILL OUT AN ONLINE FORM WITHOUT HELP.) Let’s get our joy back and resist all this made-up stress! Let’s recapture the joy of watching kids play in sprinklers, build forts out of couch cushions, create dramatic “programs” (my parents have PTSD from ours), and run around the neighborhood with their friends. Let’s give them back the gift of imagination, self-sufficiency, creativity. What did our moms do? They let us be kids, and we wob-

Long-Haired Drivers

A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss the use of the car. His father took him to his study and said to him, “I’ll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your Bible a little and get your hair cut and we’ll talk about it.” After about a month the boy came back and again asked his father if they could discuss use of the car. They again went to the father’s study where his father said, “Son, I’ve been real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you’ve studied your Bible diligently, but you didn’t get your hair cut!” The young man waited a moment and replied, “You know Dad, I’ve been thinking about that. You know, Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair....” To which his father replied, “Yes, and they WALKED every where they went!” HDS INSURANCE REPRESENTING NUMEROUS top companies, we do the shopping for you, right priced, right coverage, all lines of insurance (775)267-9947 SNOW SKIS K2 APACHE RECON 173CM $35: ROSSINGNOL Bandit 160cm $50; snow chains 7.50/16LT, Tom (775)781-4754 WOOD STOVE PELLETS, WE SELL PACIFIC Pellets, cleanest burning, highest heat output, out performs all others, ½ cord almond firewood, Benson Feed, Carson City (775)882-3999

Using axes, they bust open every piece of wood, but find no marijuana. They swear at the neighbors and leave. Maria and Pablo lived in a tiny village in Mexico. Because Christmastime at their house did not include many gifts, Maria and Pablo looked forward to the Christmas festivities at the village church with great joy and anticipation. To honor the birth of Christ, the church displayed a beautiful manger that drew crowds of admirers. Villagers walked miles to admire the manger, bringing lovely, expensive gifts for the Baby Jesus. As Maria and Pablo watched the villagers place their gifts in the soft hay around the manger, they felt sad. They had no money to buy gifts for their family and no money to buy a gift for the Baby Jesus. One Christmas Eve, Maria and Pablo walked to the church for that evening’s services, wishing desperately that they had a gift to bring. Just then, a soft glowing light shone through the darkness, and the shadowy outline of an angel appeared above them. Maria and Pablo were afraid, but the angel comforted them, instructing them to pick some of the short green weeds that were growing by the road. They should bring the plants to the church, the angel explained, and place them near the manger as their gift to the Baby Jesus. Then just as quickly as she had appeared, the angel was gone, leaving Maria and Pablo on the road looking up into the dark sky. Confused but excited, the children filled their arms with large bunches of the green weeds and hurried to the church. When the children entered the church, many of the villagers turned to stare. As Maria and Pablo began placing the weeds around the manger, some of the villagers laughed at them. “Why are those children putting weeds by the manger?” they asked each other. Maria and Pablo began to feel embarrassed and ashamed of their gift to the Baby Jesus, but they stood bravely near the manger, placing the plants on the soft hay, as the angel had instructed. Suddenly, the dull green leaves on the tops of the plants began to turn a beautiful shade of red, surrounding the Baby with beautiful blooms. The laughing villagers became silent as they watched the green plants transform into the lovely star-shaped crimson flowers we call poinsettias. As they watched the weeds bloom before their eyes, Maria and Pablo knew they had no reason to be ashamed anymore. They had given the Baby Jesus the only gift they could--and it was the most beautiful gift of all. Today, poinsettias are a traditional symbol of Christmas, thanks to young Maria and Pablo and their special gifts to the Baby Jesus. “The Paper With A Hometown Flavor” Old Fashion Salt Dough Christmas Tree Decorations

A Touch of Class Craft Show...

would like to thank all who attended our 17th annual show at Carson Valley Inn over Nevada Days weekend. With your help we collected 632 pounds of food and $100 in donations for Douglas County Food Bank, and will be contributing a check for $500 to our local Boys and Girls Club. This is a wonderful community, full of friendly and generous people. We are proud to be a part of it! We hope to see all of you next year. Have a joyous holiday season. Sue Bennett, Founder

If you’re looking for some good old-fashioned fun for the kiddos and maybe the start of a pre-Christmas tradition, why not make some of your own ornaments? Perfect for adding the personal, home-made touch this season. This dough is great for little kids too as it’s completely safe to eat and works pretty much the same as playdough, just a little sandier. It looks great painted and varnished and will keep for quite a while. You will need: 1 cup plain flour, 1 cup salt, (up to) 1 cup of water What to do: 1. Mix together the dry ingredients then pour in the water, bit by bit until it mixes together to form a dough like consistency. If it’s too sticky add some more flour. It should be workable and just dry enough that none should come off on your fingers. 2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and choose some cookie cutters to cut some shapes from it 3. Stars, Christmas trees, robins, hearts, bells and angels all look perfect hanging on the tree. 4. Stick a straw near the top of each shape so that a ribbon can later be threaded through the hole. 5. Lay the shapes on a baking sheet and cook at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 2-3 hours, turning half way through if the shapes are thick. 6. When dry, they can be painted and decorated using ordinary paints or metallic acrylics, which look stunning! Use a little PVA glue when the paint has dried to add glitter, sequins, beads and other embellishments. Thread with raffia or thin ribbon and hang! Homemade decorations for almost no money, made by the whole family. Perfect! A BAD TILE JOB CAN BE LIKE A BAD HAIRCUT, but it doesn’t grow back, so don’t get hacked! In January of 1848, a man named James Marshall innocently noticed a few shiny flecks in a California stream at Sutter’s Mill. Word spread of gold and soon people from all over California flocked inland seeking instant fortune. By autumn, word had reached the east, and once again Americans earned their reputation as a migratory people. During the year that followed, over 80,000 “forty-niners” flocked to California to share in the glory. Some would actually strike it rich, but most would not. Life in a mining town was not easy. Often the towns consisted of one main street. It is in these towns that the mythical “Old American West” was born. The social center of these new communities was the saloon. Here, miners might spend some of their meager earnings after a hard day’s work. Gambling, drinking, and fighting were widespread, and justice was often determined by the hardest punch or the fastest draw. About 95% of the mining population was young and male. Female companionship was in high demand. Sometimes the saloon doubled as a brothel, and as many as 20% of the female population earned their living as prostitutes. Many other women were shopkeepers and businesswomen, and some were panning for gold side by side with the men. If a nearby mine became exhausted or turned out to be a hoax, there was no reason for the town to exist. The abandoned ghost towns began to dot the region. Although predominantly young and male, the population of California was very diverse. In addition to the white American settlers who comprised the majority of the mining populace, free African-Americans could also be found among their ranks. More numerous were Mexicans who were hoping to strike it rich. Word reached European shores and immigrants headed to America’s west. German-Jewish immigrant Levi Strauss invented trousers for the miners — his blue jeans became an American mainstay. Another significant segment of the diversity was the Chinese, who hoped to find gold and return to their homeland. Over 45,000 immigrants swelled the population between 1849 and 1854. Diversity did not bring harmony. The white majority often attacked the Mexican and Chinese minorities. The miners ruthlessly forced the California Native Americans off their lands. Laws were passed to restrict new land claims to white Americans. A Christmas Lesson

“Is there a purpose? Why are we here?” A little boy asked as the yuletide drew near. “I really do hope that someday I will know the reason we stand out here in the snow, ringing this bell as people walk by while snowflakes descend from out of the sky.” The mother just smiled at her shivering son who would rather be playing and having some fun, but soon would discover before evening was done the meaning of Christmas, the very first one. The young boy exclaimed, “Mother, where do they go, all the pennies we collect every year in the snow? Why do we do it? Why do we care? We work for these pennies, so why should we share?” “Because once a small baby, so meek and so mild was born in a manger,” she said to the child. “The Son of a King was born in this way, to give us the message He carried that day.” “You mean Baby Jesus? Is He why we’re here, ringing this bell at Christmas time every year?” “Yes,” said the mother. “That is why you should know about the very first Christmas a long time ago.” “The present God gave to the world on that night was the gift of His Son to make everything right. Why did He do it? Why did He care? To teach about loving and how we should share.” “The meaning of Christmas, you see, my dear son, is not about presents and just having fun. But the gift of a Father -

His own precious Son - So the world would be saved when His work was all done.” Now the little boy smiled with a tear in his eye, as snowflakes kept falling from out of the sky - Rang louder the bell as the people walked by while down deep in his heart, at last, he knew why. “The Paper With A Hometown Flavor” A Christmas Prayer

As we draw to the end of another year, We think of the ones that we hold so dear; We pause to give thanks for our friends so true, And ask God to bless them, the old and new. We hold up each loved one before His Throne And ask Him to comfort the ones alone; For those who have lost someone they hold dear, We ask Him to strengthen and hold them near. For those who have prospered, with new joys to savor, We ask God continues to show them His favor. And those with new babies, or newly wed, We ask Him to smooth out the path ahead; For those who are ill and can barely stand, We ask for the touch of His healing hand. For those with new homes, with new jobs and new stress, We ask Him to crown all their plans with success. For those who have dreams and think, “It’s now or never,” We ask Him to bless all that they should endeavor. For those who are facing an uphill climb, We ask Him to carry them through this time. As we come to the start of a brand new year, We pray for the ones that we hold so dear. We ask that each one will be soundly blest, To taste of His goodness and know His best; For angels to watch o’er them day and night, For miracles, blessings and sheer delight! We ask for the gifts that the world can’t buy: A glimpse at the wonders of Heaven on high, Contentment and joy till the Lord comes again, This we ask for our friends, in His Name, Amen (Connie Cook) SEW-WHAT UPHOLSTERY, CUSTOM work, leather and antiques, 40+ years experience, Carson Valley, Leslie (775)901-2035 ANTIQUE HAY FORK – 6 FORKS $600 OBO; Two French doors, 10 beveled glass panels, 4 hinges each door, fits opening 80”x72½” $500 OBO; Carter Kart side by side seating, $1,700 new, asking $1,000 OBO; 1972 Chevy pickup chrome rear bumper $75 OBO: Hydraulic lift gate, fits pickup or one ton truck $600 OBO (775)315-0303
