WELCOME Welcome to our 2022 Private Treaty bull offering. We have worked over the past 4 years adding new sires to mate to our Line 1 cowherd. We feel the sires we have introduced have moved our program forward not only phenotypically but also in the EPD profile. We have focused on finding bulls that have “the look” as well as performance. We are critical on having solid udders, sound feet and legs, while striving to have added pigment. Our cattle run in short hard grass country, so drought is something we face on a yearly basis.

Our cowherd must be able to perform in these conditions while raising top quality offspring.

This set of bulls was weaned at the end of September and has been being developed on a high energy feed and grass hay. They follow a full herd health protocol which include branding shots, 2 rounds of fall shots, and back poured. Their horns were tipped after pictures were taken. We sell all bulls with a breeders guarantee as well as a BSE performed by one of the veterinarians at Countryside Large Animal Clinic.

Rip Wheeler has taken our program to a whole new level. He is a massive creature that puts super clean fronts on his daughters and sons. The daughters are feminine yet offer a complete package including stoutness. The sons offer incredible balance, mass, and overall eye appeal. The Rip Wheeler offspring are easy to pick out in the pasture, he stamps a look on them that is appealing to anyone. Rip’s dam is one of the most elite females in the Hereford breed. THE CREW We feel we have two of the best young men in the livestock industry working for us part time. These young men hale from two different regions of the US and make the trek to Colorado just about anytime we call. They have become family to us, and without them, Sidwell Herefords would not be making the moves we are making.

Connor Hill comes to us from Wakarusa, Indiana. Connor tells us that is the RV manufacturing capital of the US! We met Connor and his family in 2017 at the National Western. Connor and his dad would help us when Connor was younger (he’s almost 18 now); Connor has become the go to guy for just about anything- not just getting cattle ready.

Parker Cantrell is a native of Collinsville, Oklahoma. We met Parker in 2019 while he was working for Oklahoma State University Purebred Beef Unit. Upon graduation, he flew to Colorado to help get ready to attend Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City. With his first paycheck from us, he bought his girlfriend an engagement ring, and as they say, THE REST IS HISTORY. They were married in September.

Besides these two guys, we can always count on Brooke and Jonathan to help us out both at home and at shows. From reframing garage doors to hanging new lights in the show barn, Jonathan adds his handiness to the crew. Brooke, as always, can be counted on for all errands and pitching in wherever an extra hand is needed.

THE ADVENTURES OF DOLLY

The Adventures of Dolly started out as posting some positivity on Facebook. Dolly was born during the frigid cold of February 2021. Her mother had simply run out of umph, so Dolly was gathered up and wrapped in the blanket and hauled into the house. She spent the entire day on the porch and even ventured into the kitchen. As time went on, it seemed as if Dolly would become the ever so dreaded bottle calf chore that had all the bad manners possible. Unfortunately, a young cow lost her calf and, on a whim, we decided to try and graft Dolly on to the cow. Mind you, Dolly was just short of 2 months old.

After a little extra effort and lots of laughter, Dolly decided she liked her new four legged mom better than her two legged one. Dolly went on to become a beautiful calf through the summer. She now calls home Flagler, Colorado.
