Welcome to our Spring 2024 private treaty offering. The cattle market continues to be strong and with that in mind, bull sales have been HOT. This set of bulls has superior docility, excellent performance, and will go out and work in any environment.

We have a short offering this year as we ran long on females, and we only kept the top end as bulls. People say this each year, but this is the deepest group we have offered.

We strive to have cows that have good udders, milk well, have structural integrity, and do their job of raising calves. Our ground is very hard and rocky; therefore, the cows must have good feet and legs. Our cowherd is very adaptable; as our climate can make us have feast or famine years, or both in the same year.

TERMS & CONDITIONS PRIVATE TREATY FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE Bulls are offered on a first come first serve basis and are available for viewing at any time here at the ranch with prior arrangements. You may select your bulls at any time, and they will have passed a breeding soundness exam prior to delivery or pick-up. If for some reason a bull does not pass the BSE, we will work with you to pick an alternate bull.

SALE TERMS & LIABILITY All sales are cash and must be paid in full unless arrangements are made prior to pick-up or delivery.

Bulls become the purchasers’ property as soon as they are sold, but the seller must see that animals are properly cared for until needed. Any death or injury after the animal is sold is at the buyer’s risk. All persons who visit the ranch do so at their own risk. Neither Sidwell Herefords or anyone connected to this ranch assumes any liability, legal or otherwise, for accidents, illness, or loss of property that may occur.

GUARANTEE All bulls sold are guaranteed to be sound and healthy breeders at the start of their first breeding season.

If an injury or problem is to occur within the first 90 days of breeding, the buyer will receive a credit minus salvage value towards a replacement bull of equal value. All injuries must be diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian and reported to Sidwell Herefords as soon as injury occurs.

HERD HEALTH All bulls are in excellent health and developed on a high energy high roughage ration. Vaccination protocol has been consists of CD&T at birth; Vision 7 and Cattle Master Gold at branding; 3 weeks prior to weaning Vision 7, Cattle Master Gold, and Enforce, and at weaning Cattle Master Gold and back poured with Cylence. Bulls will be semen tested by a license veterinarian at Country Side Large Animal Veterinary Clinic, Greeley, Colorado.

WINTERING & DELIVERY Bulls will be wintered free of charge until May 15. After that date, there will be a $4/day/bull charge until the pick-up or delivery, unless other buyer/seller arrangements are made.

EPDS EPDs listed in this catalog are current as of February 5, 2024. All bulls have been genomically tested, not all results are back as of catalog print time. Rip Wheeler has become the cornerstone of our herd. Rip has taken our program to a whole new level. He is a massive creature that puts super clean fronts on his daughters and sons. The daughters are feminine yet offer a complete package including stoutness, and excellent udder and teat development. The sons offer incredible balance, mass, and overall eye appeal. The Rip Wheeler offspring are easy to pick out in the pasture, he stamps a look on them that is appealing to anyone. He continues to have incredible EPDs. Top 1% of the breed in maternal milk, milk & growth; top 2% in udder score; top 3% in teat, ribeye area, and CHB index; top 12% & top 16% in WW & YW respectively; top 11% carcass weight and baldy maternal index.

Yellowstone was the first Rip Wheeler son we kept to use in our registered herd. Bryan always said Yellowstone was a breeding bull- and that he was! We were extremely pleased with the style and growth he put in his offspring. Yellowstone got hurt two weeks into the 2022 breeding season, so we will have a limited number of offspring. These are the last bulls to ever be offered sired by Yellowstone.

126 was a bull we raised and the final son of the great 4118 bull we had purchased from Harrell Herefords in Oregon. We had used 4118 heavily in our herd and retained many daughters. Once we had daughters in every pasture, it was time for him to move on. We sold our half to Rocking Chair Ranch in Texas, at the age of 6, They used him a few more years, selling many sons of his.

Quentin is a unique breeding piece at our operation. He brought many things to the table we had been looking for. Our goal was to have a bull that was heifer safe, would cross well on the Rip daughters, work on mature cows, and give us a type of cattle we had not had before. Quentin met all those expectations as well as outstanding performance in the show ring. He was the 2021 Res. National Champion Horned bull, a member of the 2021 National Res. Champion Pen of 3 Bulls, and then moved to Colorado. He was turned out to breed heifers, and we pulled him in 60 days prior to his next show. He was named 2021 Wyoming State Fair Supreme Champion Bull. Quentin sired the 2023 Wyoming State Fair Supreme Champion Bull.
