Welcome to our 2023 Private Treaty bull offering. The last five months of 2022 were some of the most trying months. Bryan’s health took a very bad turn for the worse. Through his stubbornness, the grace of God, and the countless doctors, nurses, and therapists; Bryan is back up and going. He still has some recovery to go, but he has come so far. We cannot express enough of our gratitude to all our family and friends who near and far, helped us through this journey. There are many who helped directly at the ranches in both Colorado and Wyoming- for that we are forever indebted to them. We THANK YOU every single person who aided us during this trying time.
As you look over our offering, you will find two new sire groups this year. The Yellowstone bull who was a son of our Rip Wheeler bull, through some very impressive calves in his first calf crop. The other new sire group is by Quentin. All the calves sired by him were born unassisted out of first calf heifers (daughters of Rip Wheeler). We feel we have a unique offering this spring. Videos will be posted to our ranch Facebook page and on our YouTube channel, Sidwell Herefords. If you don’t do Facebook or YouTube, we will be glad to email videos. We are here to serve you, please contact us with any questions.
This set of bulls was weaned at the end of September and has been being developed on a high energy feed and grass hay. They follow a full herd health protocol which include branding shots, 2 rounds of fall shots, and back poured. Their horns were tipped in January, so no need to fuss with them. We sell all bulls with a breeders guarantee as well as a BSE performed by one of the veterinarians at Countryside Large Animal Clinic.

Rip Wheeler has taken our program to a whole new level. He is a massive creature that puts super clean fronts on his daughters and sons. The daughters are feminine yet offer a complete package including stoutness. The sons offer incredible balance, mass, and overall eye appeal. The Rip Wheeler offspring are easy to pick out in the pasture, he stamps a look on them that is appealing to anyone. Rip’s dam is one of the most elite females in the Hereford breed. Commercial cattlemen can’t go wrong using genetics such as Rip. Rip boasts performance in the top 3% for scrotal, ribeye area, and CHB. While being in the top 1% of the breed for maternal milk and top 1% for milk and growth. At the end of our 2022 breeding season, Barber Ranch asked if they could use Rip back on their herd. We obliged their request and are excited to see his summer/fall borns in Texas.

Yellowstone was the first Rip Wheeler son we kept to use in our registered herd. Bryan always said Yellowstone was a breeding bull- and that he was! We were extremely pleased with the style and growth he put in his offspring. Yellowstone got hurt two weeks into the 2022 breeding season, so we will have a limited number of offspring. His dam followed up Yellowstone with a full brother, “Stoner”, that we have kept to use in his place this coming breeding season. Cow 5060 gave us two outstanding sons that were both well received in and out of the show ring.

He sired one of the bulls in our 2 time Reserve Champion pen of 3 bulls, and he is the sire to the reigning 3 time National Champion Horned bull owned by Barber Ranch and GKB Cattle. E133 is in the breeds top 1% in WW, YW, MG & top 2% in CW and CHB. Snacks passed away this last summer at the same time Bryan had all his major heart problems. We feel Snacks gave up himself to save our “boss man”.

Quentin is a unique breeding piece at our operation. He brought many things to the table we had been looking for. Our goal was to have a bull that was heifer safe, would cross well on the Rip daughters, work on mature cows, and give us a type of cattle we had not had before. Quentin met all those expectations as well as outstanding performance in the show ring. He was the 2021 Res. National Champion Horned bull, a member of the 2021 National Res. Champion Pen of 3 Bulls, and then moved to Colorado. He was turned out to breed heifers, and we pulled him in 60 days prior to his next show. He was named 2021 Wyoming State Fair Supreme Champion Bull. This picture was taken mid-August after having been out breeding. Rylee Barber refers to this as our pasture picture of Quentin! We only wish our pastures looked that good!

The final bull of our listing is owned by a young man that has spent many years helping us on the ranch and at shows part time. Connor Hill hales from northern Indiana. We went in with he and his dad on a heifer venture in 2020. That female raised a heifer calf in Indiana and once weaned and preg checked back safe in calf she moved to Colorado. The rest, as they say, is history.
