Typology: Cafe + Art studio

Location: 387 Sumter St. Charleston, South Carolina

ARCH 3520 | Prof: Ashley Jennings | Individual

This historic church, located on the western side of the Charleston peninsula, was repurposed to give it a new life. The goal of this project was a adaptively reuse the church and chose a program that would best fit it.

In this design the interior of the church has been repurposed into an art studio with there being an addition next to it with the purpose of it being a cafe. This place was created to interwove two popular third places and to combine them into one. It’s a place for those to explore their creativity while also grabbing a cup of coffee.

Typology: Civic Center

Location: Cayce, South Carolina

ARCH 2520 | Prof: Byron Jefferies | Individual

This project site was next to a busy railroad and quarry mine. Due to the immense amount of noise to consider when designing a civic center. This design was centered around block those noises and embracing it through an enlarged square design that cascades to block any disturbing noises.

With Cayce, SC being a place known for its art. The design of the roof was meant to emphasize that meaning. With facated roofs and captivating panel systems this place was built for all creatives and more! 2.

Typology: Co-working Space

Location: Chealsea, New York

ARCH 3500 | Prof: Tim Brown | Partner: Hanh Le

In the busy streets of Chealsea, New York a new co-working space was born. With the main focus being the shape of a rhombus to allow views and optimal entrance from the Highline to the co-working space. This shape was then continued from the ground up with an addition of diamond-like terraces to allow beautiful views of the city.

Typology: Table Furniture Design

Location: Clemson, South Carolina

ARCH 3510 | Prof: Joel Brown | Partners: Brianna Harbit, Landry Syler, Mykah Sanders

The Gunnin Architecture librarian envisioned a more functional and inviting library space, inspiring students to channel their creativity into designing custom furniture. This class project combined practical problem-solving with design skills, allowing students to craft furniture tailored to the librarian’s vision and the library’s needs. With keeping in mind the budget of $4000 and that it would be built by the students in a two week time frame in Clemson’s woodshop.
