Welcome…

to the 42nd production staged by Sidmouth Youth Theatre in its 32nd year. After the enormous challenge of ‘West Side Story’ last year I have decided to change the mood and have great fun with a family feel-good musical that celebrates an iconic American Television series that was hugely popular in the 1970’s.

Goodbye grey skies, hello blue! ‘Happy Days’ are here again with Ritchie, Potise, Ralph Malph and the unforgettable, ‘King of Cool’, Arthur ‘The Fonz’ Fonzerelli. Based on the hit TV series, ‘Happy Days’, This new Musical, reintroduces one of America’s best loved families, the Cunningham’s to a whole new generation. Dust off your leathers and put on your bobby socks as the talented cast of Sidmouth Youth Theatre return to the days of 1959 in Milwaukee, complete with varsity sweaters and jukebox sock-hoppin fun.

I can remember sitting down with my family to enjoy the trials and tribulations of the Cunningham family and the antics of Henry Winkler’s Arthur Fonzerelli every week. The cast have watched episodes on YouTube and the humour still works today.

There are no great drama’s and a distinct lack of subtext but this is a vehicle that celebrates the energy that young people can share with their loyal supporters.

Thank for joining us today. We hope this family friendly musical will have you rockin’ and rollin’ all week long!

We hope you leave with a smile and a spring in your step!

Thank you for your continued support.
