Hello there! My professional experience so far has taught me a lot about architecture and it’s allied fields. I strive to achieve playfulness in my designs and believe in simple, elegant designs. As a designer I love to play with light, textures and colors to enhance a built form. Apart from that, I am a go-getter with a love for hands on approach, and an enthusiastic learner, willing to constantly keep learning and give back to the organisation I work in. I like to involve myself with the team throughout every phase of a project, rather than sticking to just one role.

01 Collectors Office, Mangalore Location: Mangalore Climate: Hot and Humid Built-up Area: 13,606 SQM Type: Academic The Deputy Commisioner is the head of the district administration. The DC’s office consists of various branches headed by Managers who are responsible for supervision, guidance and overall management of work in their branch. The design process started with the idea of breaking away from the traditional design of govt. institutional buildings in India. Long and narrow office spaces are provided to maximise the use of daylight increase views to the outside. A facade with varying depths of windows, each color coded, is used to make the design playful.

Block- 1 consists of offices that are majorly used by the general public. It also houses the office of the DC and ADC. The building is planned around a central courtyard and the long narrow offices around it ensure the use of daylight is maximised.

This block houses the public amenities of the building complex. It houses a cafeteria, two banks, 4 shops and washrooms. Small pockets of courtyards are given to accomodate landscape to achieve a biophilic design.

02 Private School at Mani, Karnataka Location: Mani, Karnataka Climate: Warm and Humid Area: 79,319 SQFT Type: Professional (Internship) Mani is a village in Karnataka, between Mangalore and Bangalore along the National Highway 75. The village has a hilly terrain with a large number of arecanut plantations. The site is located on one such arecanut plantation. The project is planned in two phases- first phase consisting of admin block, with auditorium and mess dining facility and an academic block for classes 1st to 12th. The Kindergarten block has been planned for the second phase of expansion. The school also accomodates a 200m athletic track.

The Process.

Basic Module. The basic module consists of 4 classrooms located around a central courtyard

Multiplication. The base module is repeated twice in a floor, totally accomodating 8 classrooms in a floor

Labs. The labs are located along the connection between the two modules allowing for easy access from either sides

Vertical Circulation. Two staircases are provided for either modules. A central lift is also provided

Washrooms. The washrooms are located at the mid-landing of the stairs

Final Form. The modules along with the labs are repeated on the higher floors. The school block is a G+2 structure

03 Nargund Engineering College- Canteen Location: Nargund Climate: Semi-Arid prevailent Area: 1050 SQM Type: Professional (Internship) Nargund is a town located in the Gadag district of Karnataka. The Engineering college has been designed in two phases. The canteen block is part of the second phase of development of the campus. The canteen has been designed following the design language used throughout the campus. The main idea was to create a large semiopen volume with vibrant colors to contrast with the muted colour pallete of the buildings.

ZONING The planning involves the use of a courtyard , around which the dining area would be provided

STRUCTURAL SYSTEM A 5m x 5m grid is created for the columns

FIRST FLOOR The area above the kitchen is utilised to increase the dining space and it also accomodates common rooms for boys and girls

ADDITION OF WALLS AND JAALI The ground floor is kept open to the outside, while the first floor is covered with the use of jaali walls. Security is provided to the canteen by providing jaali wall on next to the spill out space
