DRUMECO ARCHER

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BAHAMAS ASSOCIATION OF ATHLETICS ASSOCIATIONS

IT is both a privilege and a deeply personal honour to bring greetings to DTSP Wolf Pack on the occasion of its annual track meet, Ambush 2026 – It’s Hunting Season, and to join in celebrating this year’s deserving honouree, Mr. Alexander Doyle Burrow—known to all of us, simply and affectionately, as Doyle. Doyle’s story is woven into my own. As a young student-athlete attending St. Augustine’s College, running track with big dreams but very limited means, I faced a simple yet formidable challenge: I had no transportation to the Thomas A. Robinson Track & Field Stadium. Day after day, it was Doyle who gave me a ride to practice. He asked for nothing in return. At the time, it seemed like a small, practical kindness. In retrospect, it was life-altering. Because of those rides, I made it to practice. Because I made it to practice, I improved. Because I improved, opportunities opened—scholarship opportunities, academic opportunities, and ultimately the chance to further my education, build a life, support a family, and give back to this sport we love. One act of kindness set in motion a chain of events that shaped my life’s trajectory. That is the quiet power of mentorship and generosity. What seems small in the moment can follow a child for a lifetime.

That same spirit of giving continues to ripple through our sport today, touching young athletes who may never fully know how one encouraging word, one ride, one sacrifice can change their future. Today, we celebrate Doyle not just for who he is, but for what he represents—the enduring impact of selfless service to youth and to track and field in The Bahamas.

That same story is being written again and again across The Bahamas—by coaches who stay late, by parents who sacrifice, by volunteers who give their time, and by clubs that believe in young people before the world ever does. These seemingly small commitments are the lifelines of our sport. They are how track and field survives. They are how hope is sustained.

We also take this moment to salute the hard, determined, and willful work of DTSP Wolf Pack, under the chieftainship of Mr. Larry Clarke, alongside his supportive wife Gail Clarke, and the entire management and coaching team. You are truly among the best our sport has to offer. With deep gratitude, we acknowledge you as one of the powerful pistons that keep the wheel of Bahamian track and field turning forward with strength and purpose. Indeed, it is hunting season—a time to chase excellence with focus and fire. Like the disciplined hunter, I challenge each athlete to take careful aim at your targets, work relentlessly, dream boldly, and fire away. Your goals are before you. Your catches in life are waiting.

On behalf of the Executive Board and the entire BAAA family, we extend best wishes to all athletes, coaches, officials, parents, and supporters for a happy, healthy, and an incredible hunting season for our sport in 2026. May God bless you, and may you all enjoy an incredible and victorious hunting season.

Today’s meet marks the 8th DTSP Wolf Pack Track and Field Classic. God has indeed been good to our organization, as we have seen tremdemous growth and development over the years. We give thanks for our success as well as the opportunities to address the challenges a growing organjzation such as ours must face. With God’s help we will always overcome the challenges.

Reflecting on the successes, I realize that we have much to be thankful for. The Wolf Pack philosophy has always been to focus first on God and family, next on academic excellence and after mastering those pursuits to extend our abilities to athletic prowess.

To that end the DTSP Wolf Pack boasts some 34 alumni who have matriculated through tertiary education and are now productive citizens of our country. Our “alumnetes” to coin a term, are making strategic contributions in the areas of government, private corporations, public health and medicine, accounting and a plethora of other professions as they contribute to the growth, success and development of our nation.

DTSP Wolf Pack is proud of the existing cadre of students who are presently continuing their education in universities abroad and at the University of the Bahamas.

Many of those athletes through their involvement in athletics were able to secure scholarships (whether in whole or in part) to help with their academic pursuits while competing in the NCAA.

The accomplishments align well with our vision and mission.

Last year we saw three members of our club make the Carifta team and are proud of the competitive performances of our athletes at those games.

Whilst DTSP Wolf Pack athletes can claim success at local and international meets, we always emphasize that life requires that you practice diligently and give your best in every endeavor, for you can only boost morale when you can stand tall knowing that you did your best.

This year’s Alexander Doyle Burrows DTSP Wolf Pack track classic promises to be an exciting one.

We are honoured to have the track icon Mr. Alexander Doyle Burrows as our patron for this year’s meet. Mr. Burrows legacy is legendary throughout track and field and Junkanoo. His numerous contributiins to the sport and to the country are but a few of the reasons that he was chosen as this year’s honouree.

The Wolf Pack family is elated that you have taken the time to come to see track and field action at its very best and to cheer on the athletes from juniors to seniors as they showcase their talents at “Ambush 2026”. Enjoy the meet, embrace the excitement, encourage the athletes and cheer them all on, as they do their very best.

The Wolf Pack family wishes one and all a healthy and prosperous year.

Happy Hunting,

Remember: “I Come to Get Me!” Thank you.

Coach Larry Clarke President, DTSP Wolfpack

years. Track and field has always been my passion. There has always been that love for the sport, more so than the job itself. A lot of people look at it as a job and therefore don’t put their heart and soul into it, but I’ve always loved track and field. It’s what I do”.
