SAMUEL G WILLIAMS

Reverend Dr. Samuel Goldston Williams was born in Bottle Creek, North Caicos , Turks and Caicos Islands. He was brought up in a humble home with his parents, who knew and served God. Their lifestyle is what shaped his faith and character during his formative years.

As a young man, Rev. Williams enjoyed employment with Shell Bahamas Limited and West India Shipping Company as an engineer. Although he was very knowledgeable about engines and give excellent service on the job, he realized that this was not his life’s vocation. Like Samuel he heard and answered the call of God and made himself available for God’s service. He left the shipping company and enrolled at the Hobe Sound Bible College. In 1987 he completed his studies and graduated on the Dean’s list with a Bachelor’s degree in Ministerial Studies.

In 1989, equipped with ministerial skills and the word of God in his heart Rev. Williams applied to the Turks and Caicos Islands Baptist Union for employment and was given Pastoral oversight to the Middle Caicos Circuit of Churches. This was a test of his commitment to the work of God, as he resided in North Caicos with his family and braved the weather many days as he travelled by boat along with his wife and children to preach the word, conduct Bible study and minister to the people of Middle Caicos. He never grew weary nor let anything deter him from effective ministry to his congregations over his twelve years of service to the Middle Caicos Circuit of churches. God was always faithful and so was he.

Like Paul, he believes in preaching the word in season and out of season.

Pastor, Rev. Dr. Samuel Goldston Williams’ philosophy is that the sun does not set until it’s dark. He is not easily despondent and is always ready for a challenge. He experienced his greatest challenge in 2001 when he

accepted the pastoral post at Paradise Baptist Church. It seemed then that the sun had almost set but God’s grace and mercy is indeed powerful. God heard and answered Rev. Williams’ prayers to send workers and rewarded him for his faithfulness. God raise workers and the church grew tremendously from his faithful act.

Today, after twenty four years of faithful service Paradise Baptist Church he is reaping the fruits of his labor, a vibrant ministry with Pastor Richard Cairns and his wife Saskia. God deserves all the praise.

Rev. Williams view his ability to complete College as his greatest achievement. He is proud of this achievement because he did it without the foundation of a high school education. Today he is the holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Ministerial Studies, a Masters in Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry Degree, all accomplished with high scholastic honours.

More importantly though, Rev. Williams is blessed with a gift to expound the word of God. He has passion for spreading gospel of Jesus Christ.

Rev. Williams enjoys church ministry. He understands what true ministry is and that it goes beyond the four walls of the church. It involves the whole man-physically and spiritually. Along with serving his church family, Rev. Williams extends himself to serve the civic community. He has served on the Public Service Commission Board and Integrity Commission Board where he functioned as an advocate for public servants. He held positions of president, Vice President and Executive Secretary of the Turks and Caicos islands Baptist Union.

Rev. Williams is blessed with a beautiful wife of forty five years. Mrs. Whitlean Williams who is also his partner in ministry. Together they parented nine children. Grandparents of fourteen grandchildren.

CLOSING HYMN | To God Be The Glory

To God be the glory, great things He hath done, so loved He the world that He gave us His Son, who yielded His life an atonement for sin, and opened the life-gate that all may go in.

(Chorus)

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear His voice!

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice!

O come to the Father through Jesus the Son, and give Him the glory, great things He hath done.

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood, to ev’ry believer the promise of God; the vilest offender who truly believes, that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done, and great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son; but purer, and higher, and greater will be our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.
