Summer Sport Program
1st of November 2025
Saint Ignatius’ College Riverview acknowledges the Cammeraigal people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our College stands We recognise their enduring connection to this Country to its lands, waters, skies, and stories and we honour the strength and wisdom that have sustained their culture for countless generations.
This place has long been a site of learning, gathering, and community. The Cammeraigal people have cared for it with deep respect and spiritual understanding, and we are grateful to share in that legacy as we continue to learn and grow upon their Country.
As a College community, we give thanks for the privilege of living, learning, and playing on this land. We acknowledge the knowledge, resilience, and stewardship of First Nations peoples across Australia, whose voices continue to guide us toward a more just and compassionate future.
We pay our respects to Elders past and present the keepers of language, culture, and story and we extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our Riverview community and beyond.
May our actions reflect a spirit of reconciliation, understanding, and shared purpose, grounded in the Ignatian values of gratitude, service, and respect for all creation.
On behalf of the Rector, Fr Tom Renshaw SJ, Principal Mr Mark Tannock, and College Captain Lachlan Wappett, it is my pleasure to welcome all students, staff, parents, Old Boys, and supporters from The King’s School.
The summer season is now well underway, and it has been uplifting to see the College once again alive with training sessions, early-morning starts, and the familiar rhythm of competition. The first home fixture last week reminded us of what makes sport at Riverview so special - the enthusiasm of the players, the dedication of our staff and coaches, and the wonderful sense of community that fills the sidelines and surrounds every match.
At Riverview, we often speak of sport as being about more than just the contest. It’s a place where character is tested, friendships are strengthened, and lessons about perseverance and humility are learned in real time. Each week offers our students an opportunity to represent the College with integrity, respect, and pride in the Blue and White. That shared commitment, whether you’re playing, coaching, cheering, or preparing the grounds, is what gives our sporting program its unique spirit.
Following the 1st and 2nd V Basketball match, all 1st and 2nd players, match officials, and their families are warmly invited to Afternoon Tea outside the Wingaru canteen - an opportunity to share in the camaraderie that defines our sporting culture. Our sincere thanks to the parents of our senior basketball players for their generosity in hosting this occasion.
As the summer season continues to unfold, may we all take pride in the way our students play the game - with spirit, discipline, and gratitude for the opportunity to represent their College. Thank you for your ongoing support, and I wish all teams an enjoyable and successful day of sport
